Keeping Up With The Joneses

I decided to write this article to inform my readers that you don't have to continue trying to keep up with the "Joneses". You can be yourself and create the life you want without having to compete with others. Many of us are trying to keep up with someone or a group of people in society via social media, our favorite celebrities, or even our next-door neighbor. We grow up in life thinking that there is an image that we have to live up to. Who are the "Joneses" in your lives? Is it your family, your neighbor, a teacher, or a friend?

According to Wikipedia, "Keeping up with the Joneses" is an idiom in many parts of the English-speaking world referring to the comparison to one's neighbor as a benchmark for social class or the accumulation of material goods. To fall into the category of keeping up with the "Joneses" is perceived as demonstrating socio-economic or cultural inferiority. It is believing if you don't have certain material things in life, then you are less than those who have accomplished more.

I am here to tell you today, stop trying to keep up with the "Joneses". The "Joneses" will drive you crazy and you will never be satisfied by trying to keep up with them because at every level of attainment, you will find someone who has achieved what you have and even more. After you have brought that new car, you will find out that your neighbor just brought a better version of your car.
