3 Reasons Why You May not Be Experiencing Financial Blessings in your Life.
You tithe 10% of your salary consistently. So, why aren't you receiving financial blessings? It's not like you spend your money frivolously. You barely have enough to pay your bills. It just doesn’t seem fair. Something is definitely wrong. What could it be?
If you are a tither and you aren’t receiving results, here are three reasons why you may be struggling financially.
Reason #1. You worry constantly about money.
Worry can block your financial blessings. It's like telling God, "I don't think you're really capable of providing my needs."
Instead of worrying, say to the Lord: "I am going to Trust you, Lord, no matter what happens. I believe you will supply all my needs."
Then meditate on what you just spoke throughout the day. You have to shrug off all worry and get EXCITED that God's going to bless you. You have no reason to worry. Think about it; God owns everything!
God created the paper your bills are printed on and the money you pay your bills with. Begin to silently praise Him for supplying your needs. You can repeat: "My Father in Heaven is rich. I'm His child; I am not going to worry about money."
Every time I replace my worry with faith and praise, God has worked it out. It took me a very long time to trust Him. When I shrugged off worry, God started supplying my needs in miraculous ways. It got to the point where I stopped worrying because I knew that He would work something out. Besides, worry saps your energy and raises your blood pressure – it’s not worth the hassle.
Reason #2. You haven't sowed a seed of faith.
When most people hear about people sowing a seed of faith, the first thing that comes to mind is to mail a check to a televangelist. This is not the kind of sowing I’m talking about.
I’m talking about sowing into the lives of others who are truly in need. That means giving directly to the poor, even if it is just a dollar. This is how God will test your faith. He will lead you on how much to give.
In Luke 6:38, it reads:
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
When I started to give to the less fortunate, that’s when God began to bless me financially. Every time I gave to a homeless person or a person in need, God blessed me abundantly. In Proverbs 19:17, it says that when you give to the poor, you're lending to the Lord. As a result, He takes care of your financial needs.
I remember being stopped by three strangers at a train station one day. All three people asked for money to buy food. I thought it was a bit odd at first. However, I knew in the back of my mind that God was testing me and preparing my faith for a blessing (if I passed the test). So I gave around $2 to each person.
About two days later, God blessed me financially.
At this point in my life, I get excited when strangers ask for money. One day I was at a bookstore cafe and a man came up to me to ask me a question. I was so engulfed in my book that I thought he asked to borrow money.
So, I didn't hesitate. I pulled out $5 to give to him. He said, "No! I asked to borrow a pen - not money." That was an embarrassing moment. I was a bit disappointed that he didn’t ask.
Anyway, the point is, when you give to others from your heart, God will bless you. When God shows you an opportunity to give, don't pass it up. Never stop giving. Also, don't forget to share the Gospel after you give.
Reason #3. You’re not a good steward of your money.
Let’s be honest. If you’re not saving for a rainy day, when the rainy day comes, you won’t have any money saved. It’s important that you begin to save for emergencies. That way, when a bill comes in the mail or an unexpected expense occurs, you will have money.
After you give back God's portion, make sure you give to yourself (savings, necessities, etc.) and everything left over goes towards bills and other obligations.
Here’s a quick budgeting tip:
10% For Tithes
5% Sowing a Seed of Faith (to the poor)
15% Towards Savings (paying yourself)
20% Towards Debts
50% Towards Household Bills
Often times, people are cheerful givers, but they never give to themselves. It is important that you are saving a portion of your salary for yourself and your family. Being a good steward of money reminds me of Jesus' parable about the five wise and five foolish in Matthew 25. Don't be the foolish one.
When you show God that you are doing your best to be a good steward of your money, he will help increase your finances.
I pray that the three tips within this article will enrich you and be a blessing to you financially.

I totally disagree with this post on trying to convince us that it is something we are doing wrong, because we are still struggling to make end meet and still no financially breakthrough after faithfully giving tithes and offerings for years. Why are we still struggling? Because the tithe system is not for us, but was for the people in Malachi 3 and not for us, but greedy money hungry and for profit pastors are using the old tithing system to prosper, but we sheep aren't getting the same in return. Apostle Paul taught about giving to benefits the need of the saints, not for the shepherd's family. The giving was for the benefit of the needy saints, for the body of Christ. (2 Corinthians 8) & also Acts 2:44-47..44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved...Therefore, rightly divide the word of God, we are no longer under the law of the tithe system, we are under the New Covenant....Jesus, grace. This is what Jesus look at giving..Luke 21:1-4..The Widow’s Gift..21 And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. 3 And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; 4 for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.” If I have given with a glad and generous heart then I have please God, not man, because the Lord is the one who will supply my need even when I don't understand why I'm still struggling, he's teaching me to trust him no matter what, to seek his face and not to worry. Matthew 6:31-33..
31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Tithing or sowing a seed will not bring you financial blessings.. I am tierd of hearing Iam cursed if I dont tithe 10% to my church. We are under a new covenant as far as tithing goes. I give because I want to help not because I am getting something back in return. Thats the only reason to give when you dont expect anything back. My husband and I struggle financially , but thats how God wants it. God himself says, He will have mercy on whom he chooses. We are not to question God . We have a house to live in, food in our belly, a vehicle to get to work and clothes to wear. The necessities are met. Great! For the folks who went to college and received a degree, they obviously will make more money than people who did not obtain a degree. Thats not always the case but mostly it is. These people that make alot of money like to tell others what they should and shouldn't do with their money. Hello! Theres nothing left after the necessities get paid. Still there are others who are in alot more dire circumstances. Theres always someone worse off than ourslves. I praise God continually for the many, many blessings hes given us...and the grace he has extended over and over. A new car, house, wealth will not fill a void or keep you content unless you have the joy of the Lord in your heart.

In addition to the above, one must also do the following :
1.control your taste and discipline yourself to stay and live within your income. You can be earning $1000 and live as if you are earning $3000.as a matter of fact to play safe it's even advice able you live below your income.
2.Stop accumulating debt but rather avoid it.
3.Learn to be a saver rather than a spender.
4.Don't owe to save
5.Be a saver and not a spender and always go for the cheaper options
AF Mind on April 06, 2018:
According to the Bible, tithing was about food. The Bible debunks money tithing because tithing is commanded in the scripture from agricultural increase in Leviticus 27:30-33, Deut. 12:17, Duet. 14:23, 28, 2 Chron. 35:1-6 Nehemiah 10:37 and 12:44, Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42.
Deuteronomy 26: 12 says the tithe was for the Levites, the stranger in the land, the fatherless, and the widows. It was to go to everyone of those categories, not just one particular person or group of priests. This means that not only is the pastor using tithes to get money when the scriptures say that is wrong, but they aren't even giving it to the ones it was supposed to go to. As evidence shows it was for the less fortunate and was a practice of showing love for your neighbor as both the Old and New Testament commanded.

Oh and lastly, you don't need to buy personal financial guidance. Plenty of great websites with forums where people freely share ideas on what works for them and what doesn't.
Also don't forget your local library full of books on the topics.
All it takes is your time and effort. Read and re-read until the "discussion lingo" becomes familiar like anything else.
I've been studying for a couple of years and I understand the topic much better than I did at the start.
What all of us are trying to do is maximize the utility of the money we have so we have more dollars left over to save, invest and help others with.
I'm very much a help a man learn to fish person than a type of guy that just throws money at a problem. It just hasn't been an efficient solution in my opinion to throw money at problems.
A great example is the Poverty Inc documentary.
Unexpected outcomes. More charity isn't always the right solution. Sometimes your time and educated guidance pays bigger dividends in the long run.

This is exactly how my wife and I got ahead. We took a long road to completing our education while struggling financially.
After lots of hard work and low paying jobs our educations were done and we were able to find better paying jobs. Along the way we helped people and they helped us - chores, a friend loaned us a truck several times for tasks, friends dog sat for us while we traveled out of town, I fixed appliances/computers/cars/houses for others. We watched friends' kids.
We were blessed to be surrounded by good hard working people and we all advanced in life together from this hard work we were each focused on.
After the debt was gone we were able to build savings and focus more on our family, our friends and continued to help make life better for the people around us.
We were able to do this by making financial donations, donations of our time, and we didn't have to worry we might wear out the family car b/c we could afford to repair it or replace it at any time - albeit modest cars.
We had minds that were no longer weighed down by the trivialities of daily life - the struggles to stretch every cent to its limits. (no more decision fatigue)
This is perhaps what you should do as well.
More religious study sure but also some financial management self-study to plan out your own life. Spend as much time studying personal finances, personal health/dietfitness, a bit of history, and some DIY topics useful to you as you do religion.

Just know that some people will manipulate you if they can for their own gain - directly (give your money to them) or indirectly (help them build their empire). Just be aware. All those who call themselves good people or Christian are not your friends.
I suggest you apply quit tithing for now and pay down your debts. If you feel like you should be giving then give your time to those who would benefit. Help with chores. Help people learn (tutor, adult education). Sit with the lonely, sick or elderly. Anything but your money right now.
Build up savings. Frankly I would argue a year's wages or more so that when your car breaks, or you need to move suddenly b/c of a job change or you get sick - you can take care of your needs with a minimum of stress.
Invest while you are young so with the powers of compound interest you can build additional savings so that when you are old, you can take care of yourself.
When you have YOUR house in order then you can help others while also taking care of yourself. I can not explain how mentally and emotionally freeing it is to know that you have taken care of your needs and now you can help others. You won't worry about your needs so you can worry about other people's needs.
This might delay your financial contributions to the world but who cares. You won't easily be able to help anyone if you are struggling with your own needs (debt, financial security, domestic stability).

Hi, Jennifer. Don’t stop giving. Your blessings are being stored up. God provides in multiple ways. I find that sometimes God will give you a profitable idea after giving and sowing seeds. Sometimes He gives us a blessing healthwise.
My suggestion is to ask God for Wisdom with money management and saving. Read Matthew 25:1-13. Notice that the wise virgins “saved for a rainy day” the foolish didn’t and did not have enough oil to light their lanterns.

It's interesting how people who aren't the ones going thru the difficulties always seem to come up with the "answers". Personally, I used to be a counsellor for different events: even Billy Graham. I wondered why people would be almost suicidal over matters that I wished I could trade over the difficulties I faced. We seem to assume that if we obey God, he is obliged to bless us. He HAS to! We forget that He is also a person. For instance, why does God choose to bless someone who tithes less times than I do, hardly spends time with Him, is less faithful, and so on, etc. I don't know. I do know however that God for some reason chooses who to bless and it has absolutely nothing to do with tithing or sowing seeds of faith. And, yes, it p*sses me off because I cannot truly depend that in my hour of financial need that he will come through for me. And those so called ministers who preach otherwise, I fear for them for their hour of betrayal is almost eminent. I don't know why God does what He does and yes I am often angered at Him. The absolute only two things I can or must trust Him for is that He exists and for salvation. Through much experience, I have lost faith for just about everything else.

Pamela Lipscomb from Charlotte, North Carolina on July 30, 2016:
First of all, tithing is not scriptural for the New Testament church. Pastors flat out won't tell you this. I know hundreds of Born Again believers who have given tithes for decades, only to remain broke and discouraged. 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. And 90% of Americans, buy stuff they don't need! Preachers teach tithing as a miracle method of getting blessed, but many themselves do not tithe because they say, they are the storehouse. You can go to any church on Sunday morning and hear the Pastor tell you, you are cursed with a curse if you don't tithe. Years ago I began to realize that tithing is only mentioned in the Old Testament and the one time it is mentioned in the NT it refers back to Abraham giving a tenth to Melchizedek (also in the Old Testament). The New Testament tell us to give, and it shall be given back to us. Many church folks (especially denominational churches) struggle financially. Yet, they pay tithes, fall behind in their bills and continue a cycle of poverty they never recover. Christian have been taught that if they don't tithe, their car will break down, or they will lose their jobs, or something terrible will happen to them. This is a lie and demonic manipulation. People give out of fear and not faith, and anything that is not of faith is a sin. Why do you think it gets so quiet when it's time to give tithes? The anointing lifts from the service because it is not scriptural. As a minister, I know many men and women who are Pastors, Evangelists, and Prophets, Apostles. I challenged two of them and asked why do they not tell the truth to the people about tithing? They told me if they did they would have enough money to keep the church running. So you see, they themselves who tell you to give in faith, do not believe God to supply all their needs! Also, many Christians are now well educated in finance, saving, and investing. And many depend totally on their one job rather than looking for other avenues of income. It's not your fault, you have not been taught.Instead of paying your tithes every week. One month take that money and take a course on finance and getting out of debt. You will see a great change in your thinking and income. We have to stop the magical thinking and become a practical steward of our money. Give, according to NT principles, but give cheerfully and as you have purposed in your heart. Give to someone in need, give to your church, give where God shows you to give. Do you realize, even Jew do not tithe? They do, however, give Tzedakah or Charity to the poor or all races, religions and causes. Check out: https://hubpages.com/religion-philosophy/Is-Tithin...

Even if you're paying your tithes but you're having sex out of wedlock or living with your mate and not being married or holding a grudge instead of forgiving, these are just a few things that may be blocking your breakthrough. Futhermore don't complain, continue to praise no matter how it looks. Lift up His name because if you think about it there is alot to be grateful for. If you even have a job is a blessing , you should be dancing holes in the bottom of your shoes! Stop gossiping too! We're all guilty. Even if it's someone on tv. Don't engage in talking bad about them or what you heard. And last but not least, your thinking, if you're constantly thinking negative thoughts then that will definitely block your breakthrough. It's not easy. It takes work. You have to gaurd your thoughts!

I am a giver by nature, my daughter said today "God must really hate you... you give and give and recieve nothing back. Some pastors will say tithing is taught in the Bible and misleadingly point to the Old Testament, as if we were to do everything in it. The OT goes into much greater detail about animal sacrifices, why dont we do that?

One of the problems is that many of you tried, or are, tithing to get rich. This is ridiculous! If it worked like that everyone would be doing it. It is not that the scriptures have lied, it is the interpretation of Scripture has been misconstrued by well-meaning pastors and leaders of the church. The NT does not teach on this subject. You are being mislead. You should give, but only what you can afford. Read the Bible. Stop letting people deceive you! Stop tring to get rich. God does not want all Christians to be rich, otherwise the apostles woukd have all been living it up in ivory towers luxuriously located on the Mediterranean Sea. Remember just because someone has a position of authority, does not mean that he knows a lot about his subject. While some pastors and church leaders are educated, many are not and they pontificate a lot of nonsense.

They say that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different results is insanity. I too, suffer from believing in Mal 3:10 and at first expecting, then hoping, then like a lottery scratch off, thinking "maybe this time my dreams might just come true". I'm beginning to think that the church itself stuck that verse in so they could keep their jobs. When will I be out of debt (slavery) yet still have some things I enjoy and need? When will I meet a kind hearted single woman to have and to hold? When will the exercise and eating right pay off? When? And when will God rise up against those coming at me to take, steal, kill, destroy? When?! There was a time when I was so sick of churches not giving (still am) but always taking that I held on to my tithes, it was 300.00 I think . It's been a few years, and the only reason I'm giving an amount is because of the story. Well I didn't have a lot but I called a pizza place and spoke with manager re: buying pizza for homeless shelter. I told him how many needed fed for that day. It was more than 300.00. I could not do more, so I was not going to get it but he ended up knocking the price down to exactly what I needed without me mentioning how much I had. Anyway, soon afterward, there was emergency at job I really liked, and didn't mind working, so they had unlimited ot! That week I was able to bring home 1200.00, for just one week after taxes. They also paid me 1.00 more an hour than i should have gotten, so nobody can tell me not to do what God said to do!!! God bless

Thanks to the last few posters for clearing up tithing. I have been feeling guilty about not thithing 10%. I fully believe I should give what I can to support the church because I am, after all, using some of their services and resources and they deserve to be paid and it would be wrong to have people freeload off them, but giving $90/week to listen to sermon and go to the occasional social event seems expensive and just plain reckless. I think giving what you can afford along with volunteering within the church is sufficient, and also leaves room to financially help people outside of church when you see a need. Perhaps the less you can give the more you should volunteer because your time and talents are worth just as much as your money.
Brian on April 12, 2015:
I have a phd in Old Testament and can tell you that tithing is not taught in the New Testament. Adolf Hitler once said that it is a great thing for governments that people do not think. I would say it's a great thing for churches that congregants do not think. It amazes me that people feel compelled to tithe, but not follow any other old testament laws. Stop feeling guilty. Pastors who teach that christians must tithe are either misinformed, uneducated, or lying thieves--maybe all three. Here is a question, why don't jews tithe? If they don't, why should christians. Every argument that pastors use from the old testament in support of tithing is a straw man argument. For example, Abraham gave a tenth to Melchizedek so Christians should tithe. What! This was a one time gift that Abraham gave to a king. He did not set up a schedule to meet with Melchizedek every week and pay him a recurring tithe. Jesus said that the Pharisees should tithe, but that was before his death on the cross and thus before the law had been set aside. Before his death, Jesus also told the rich young ruler that to get to heaven you must keep the commandments. Why didn't he say you have to believe that I died for your sins? Because he had not died yet and Jews were thus still living under the law. The arguments are week. Stop telling people that they are to give money to pad the pews and carpet the church. Get out of debt and help those people you know who are struggling financially.

This article is so wrong on so many levels. First off, God never commanded Christians to tithe PERIOD. There is not one verse in the Bible where CHRISTIANS were ever instructed to give tithes. The tithe of Deut and Malachi were specifically addressed to the children of Israel to provide for the needs of the tribe of Levi who were not given the same inheritance as the rest of the tribes. They were set apart as priests to watch over the Temple of God and the 10% increase was to support the Levites and the temple. That's it. Today, the temple of the Holy Spirit resides in the Body of the believer (Your body is the temple of the holy ghost) and WE are the church, the new priesthood (Not some church building). No instructions to tithe were ever given to Christians, Gentiles, or anyone not living under Mosaic law. In Corinthians, Paul gave CLEAR instructions on how to give: 2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
I don't know why prosperity preachers and blind Christians ignore this verse and continue to push a 10% minimum as some demonstration of faith when NOT ONE verse ever commanded the Church to give a mandatory tithe (Paul never even suggested it). We are supposed to give to supply for the needs of the saints and we are to give FREELY and not out of obligation. That is the opposite of being told to give 10% to avoid being cursed. I wish people would read the Word and stop adding things to it that are not there. The tithes were directed to the Ancient Israelites to provide for the tribe of Levite. PERIOD. That's it. Christians were instructed to give freely, cheerfully, generously, and the amount is purposed in their OWN heart. PERIOD. That simple. Stop adding all this other nonsense.
The Reasons why Christians go broke even when they tithe, is because they're giving beyond their means, out of obligation and not for the right reasons (people like this author pressuring them to do so), and they neglect their bills and debt to pay the tithe which God said NOT to do.
1 Timothy 5:8
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Be a good steward of your money by paying your debts and bills, saving money, and giving to those in need WHAT YOU CAN GIVE. Don't let people pressure you to give more than you can and do not neglect your responsibilities at home first. The very fact that the author had to make a list of things that will help you not to go broke shows that tithing is in no way a guarantee of blessings and many people who tithe regularly stay broke because they don't use the common sense that God gave them to pay their mortgage instead of giving their money over to pay for someone's church building and bills (which by the way, the early Christians had no church buildings. They just met in each others' houses and out in public places). That's unwise and not demonstrating good stewardship of one's money. You want to stop being broke: Give what you can to others, with pure intentions, not with the idea that you're gonna get some blessing, live right, save money and handle your financial responsibilities. That simple.

Twenty three years ago and shortly after my wife and I got married, my youngest brother who then gave his life to Christ had his pastor and his entire church fasting and praying for our salvation despite our refusal. So as a result, months later, my wife and I gave our lives to Jesus. May God continue to bless my little brother abundantly and the church who prayed for us 23 years ago. Since then we committed our lives to the Lord. We courageously faced trials and tribulations as part of our spiritual journey, and always saw the invisible hand and favor of the Lord upon our lives delivering us from them all. We realized that these adversities made us stronger as we walked by faith and not by sight. Last year (2014) our faith was highly tested like never before. It was the toughest financial hardship of our lives like we never experienced before. Despite the enemy’s efforts throwing at us darts of discouragement feeling sometimes forsaken in the mist of this financial valley of death, we still trusted the Lord and so we declared and stood abiding in His word that never returns void! Being always grateful and faithful in our tithes, offerings and helping our local church pastor as volunteers. We always had the privilege and honor to witness His supernatural intervention. But in this recent supernatural blessing, we still standing in awe giving Him all praise and glory! In January 27, 2015, we received a FedEx envelope containing a letter from the bank notifying us that we were approved for a full principal forgiveness of our existing home loan for $104,228.42, including all fees and accrued interest. The debt was completely cancelled! And we don’t have to pay anything! Praise God! I know this is a supernatural intervention of God because I never requested it, nor I attempted to negotiate or settle with this iconic Bank. God is faithful!! To Jesus all praise and glory!! If you going through a financial valley of death, please don’t give up! He is trustworthy and faithful to intervene in your behalf and bless you!! So continue declaring and praying the promises of God, because in doing so, we are giving birth to it and bring it into being supernaturally!!!

You can't take away from GOD word and you can't add to it. So for those of you you say that tithes is not for this day an age. Do what you think is best for you. But please don't speak for nobody else. If you don't obey GOD, Your not going to pay your tithes any way. If GOD say it then it matters. Nothing else matters his word is his word.

Very inspiring. I'll follow your advice and see what happens in my financial life, for I am in desperate need of God's help

I am in a desperate financial situation. I have been trying to keep a failing business afloat for about 4 or 5 years. None of my family knows the struggles I am going through, the IRS has a lien on me, I am $4,000 in the negative in my checking accounts(it will be more tomorrow). I own a lot of people and family and I have kept this burden to myself until now. I guess I thought I could pray and ignore the problem and it would go away. I don't mind doing without but my family doesn't deserve to because of my mistakes. I learned today that I was not praying the right way and having enough faith. I did all of the things wrong you have mentioned above. I tonight cut up 13 credit cards to help prove to myself I am going to get on the right track. I covet your prayers and Praise God for this bountiful blessing is about to bestow on me!!

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the things I can.
And Wisdom to know the difference.

But Deistic organizations require funds to do work. Maybe a set amount 10% is not required but funds are needed none the less to spread their word. This is what the christian church SHOULD be using its money for (along with charity), thus tithes are required.
PMARTIN on October 04, 2014:
But if you are a true believer in God, you do your part and let God handle the crooked preachers. Churches need money to run...but if you find that its being misused, mail it to another church. The key is to please God.
PMARTIN on October 04, 2014:
If one tries to avoid paying tithes by saying "its Old Testament", then are you doing what the early church members did in the New Testament, sell their property to give to the church? Which would we rather do--sell the second family car, that piece of land out in the country--or pay %10 of your earnings?
Kenneth on October 04, 2014:
Since tithing under the law of Moses is only types and shadows of Christ; would this mean that those who twist the shadow of the Christ to be about monetary systems of today are guilty of sin? Paul rebuked the Galatians over circumcision because the spiritual truth was that circumcision foreshadowed the work of God in the saints regeneration. There are several places in the old testament discussing tithes. Num 18 God tells the Levites that He is their inheritance, He then gives commandments concerning tithes. If God says in the OT that something (in this case the tithe offered as a heave offering) is representative of Him; should we not conclude that these oblations are shadows of Christ? The sin, peace, burnt and all other sacrifices were shadows that pointed to the reality that came in Christ Jesus.

although preachers (some) today say to tithe money to get money, my understanding is to tithe out of thanks--God blessed you so return a portion.

Don't forget the old adage, "God helps those who help themselves" He won't do everything for you, but you will get help if you really want it.

I understand EXACTLY what you are going through. The first thing I would do is pray for peace in your heart. Cry out to God and ask Him to pour wisdom into your mind and give you a solution to your financial problem. The one thing I would do differently is to make sure that you are giving God his portion of your income first. When you give back to God He will bless you. I would not stop giving because that will make life a lot more difficult - Trust Me. I have tried to stop paying tithes and I NEVER had enough. When ever I gave back, God supplied.

there is also another thing. remember that story about the servants who their master left money with? how the one who buried the money got punished? it is exactly the same thing. one should learn to multiply the money that God has bestowed upon us as well instead of just burying it in the bank or under the mattress.
