Melmac Dinnerware

When I seen this plate it brought back memories. The pink flower Melmac plate in the photo are exactly the ones that we used when I was growing up. I'm not sure whatever happened to them but I loved them. I have a wheat design melmac plates set that was my Mom's as well that I still use in my kitchen today. They are the best and have held up great over the years; even boys thought they were ok. I'm into the older style things of yesterday.

Melmac is made out of Melamine which is resin that is very durable and can made into many colors. These kinds of plastic dinnerware were very popular during the 1950s - 1960s but is still popular in my kitchen today.

In this article I'll share a few flower, wheat and paper plate designs that are Melmac. You can a few facts and what a video about Melmac picnic time plates which is pretty cool. I'll share a photo of my wheat design plates that were my Mom's that I still use. Even though they are not super popular anymore I think there still a fun addition to you Kitchen.

Here are some facts about Melamine that you may not know. i think that learning about it is helpful. These facts were insightful for me to learn.

Whispering Wheat Designs

These are simple wheat designs from a vintage era of years gone by. This is a design you might find in your Grandma's kitchen but in my case I had older parents so I found them in my Mom's cupboards. Now you'll find them in my kitchen cupboards where I've made new memories with them. They have old and new memories.

Melamine Looking....

Now this is super cool! I think its pretty neat that paper plates and cups can be made to just look like the real deal!

Melmac!?! Wasn't that the planet ALF was from? lol I wonder if they used the name from these plates because it's name sounded extra terrestrial. I really like the shape of their plates! They almost look like the stereotypical flying saucers.
