Tropical Beach Pictures

Enjoying a Tropical Beach Anytime, Anywhere

Most of us live with the harsh reality that the sand and surf of a beach is many miles away. We realize that vacations are also few and far between, making a tropical island getaway something that's off in the future.

Luckily, tropical beach pictures are easy to come by and can go a long way toward adjusting our attitude and getting us through until our next chance to escape. On this page, I'll share some beach scenes that you should enjoy. I've tried to include some information as to the location of these photographs...just in case you decide you absolutely must go!

While a hot day can mean fun in the sun, the time of sunrise is something you don't want to miss. This beautiful shot was taken in Florida, USA in December. For anyone stranded in the cold, ice, and snow, this calm ocean and glowing sky could warm their souls.

Florida is the southernmost state in the US, with more coastline than any other state. It has coasts on the Gulf of Mexico on its western border and on the Atlantic along its eastern edge and includes a number of barrier islands. It is the flattest and has the lowest overall elevation in the US.

This tropical beach picture was taken in the Republic of Maldives in the Indian Ocean.

A visit to this location should assure a warm temperature any time of year (upper 70-80's as an average). However, if you plan a visit be sure to check the rainfall, as some seasons present much more precipitation than others. January, February, and March are typically the driest.

The Maldives is actually a series of 1,192 islands and is the lowest and most dispersed country in the world.

The view from above shows the lush green growth surrounding the tranquil waters off of Railay Beach in Thailand. It's high limestone cliffs cut it off from the mainland forcing visitors to arrive by sea. A little inconvenient perhaps, but certainly part of the draw as well.

Visitors to this area can also enjoy rock climbing.

Relaxing in a chair, feet buried in warm, snow white sand, a palm tree swaying above, and gazing out at clear, turquoise blue waters; that is part of the tropical experience we all dream about.

This sandy beach is believed to be in Antigua in the West Indies. This small island nation has a total population of just over 80,000 and has tourism as its main economic driver.

It's easy to imagine a romantic stroll along the beach at sunset. The world is slower, quieter, calmer, softer...

This photo takes us back to Florida, USA on Anna Maria Island at the southern on Coquina Beach specifically. This beach is not as built up as many in the Sunshine State (Florida) and there is a lot of wildlife who share the area with tourists. Many of Florida's beaches, mostly in the northern and central portions of the state, would be classified subtropical rather than tropical.

With the tiniest of white-capped waves on the bluest waters, the line between sea and sky can be hard to discern. This beach appears to be in the Caribbean but its exact location is unknown. Regardless, on any gloomy day, it's the stuff we dream about.

So beautiful it doesn't appear to be real, this is a view from an Indian Cave on Turks and Caicos. Looking out into the Atlantic Ocean, viewers discover a small uninhabited island. Surely the type of destination any tropical visitor would want to find.

The Turks and Caicos Islands consist of 40 separate islands lying north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. With plenty of coral, scuba diving is a favorite activity for tourists.

Any respectable tropical beach needs palm trees. These palms are on the beach in Tulum, Mexico. It's on the Caribbean coastline of the Yucatán Peninsula.

Visitors can also see the nearby pre-Columbian Mayan walled city ruins among its rocky cliffs while they are there.

This tropical beach picture is set in Bora Bora in the South Pacific in French Polynesia. Aside from the beautiful, pristine surroundings, visitors can also scuba dive and explore the surrounding coral reef.

Bora Bora is a truly tiny island of just under 12 square miles and a population of approximately 10,000-11,000 people.

The Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean (USA) have a number of beautiful beaches. This one is believed to be on Kauai. There are many spectacular views of the canyon, tropical forests, and the ocean on this beautiful island. This photograph is just a simple look at the surf which can calm anyone who has enjoyed the continuous loop of waves rolling in on the beach.

Visitors can enjoy not only beautiful beaches but great adventures in this rugged tropical landscape, hiking, visiting waterfalls, steep cliffs, and lush vistas or perhaps enjoying a whale watching tour.

While the location of this lovely beach is not known for certain, it is the kind of place many of us long for during the depths of winter. Quiet, secluded, and peaceful. A spot to warm ourselves, to swim, and to just take in all that is around us.

The location isn't specified by the photographer, but it seems we are In the Maldives once again. This picturesque beach is the stuff of tropical dreams.

You can imagine another stroll on a less populated beach just before sunset. This picture is taken in Seychelles at Anse Severe on La Digue Island off the eastern coast of Africa.

There are 115 islands in the chain and visitors can see not only beaches but coral reef, rainforests, and a number of rare animals such as certain species of frogs, birds, and tortoises.

This vivid tropical scene can be found on Saona Island which is just off the southeastern tip of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. It is a protected island with no major development making it the perfect spot for those who want to get away from it all. It also provides a great opportunity for snorkeling.

This photo provides an elevated view of a beach in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico. It looks out at the Pacific Ocean. It is a resort area with plenty of things to do beyond enjoying the beautiful beaches. Swimming with dolphins, diving from the granite rocks, fishing, golfing and more attract tourists regularly.

Here is a stunning sunset. Sometimes the best time on the beach is when the light is dying, the water is calm, and there is less activity. The tropical location of this photograph is unknown.

Here is a view for those who snorkel. Emerging from just below the surface of the water you are greeted with a view of the swaying palms. This photo was captured somewhere in French Polynesia.

Pristine is the word that comes to mind with this view. The tropical beach in this image appears to be somewhere in Khao Lak, Thailand. The area, in general, is not overly developed or crowded so it seems an ideal place for vacationing for relaxation.

Both the photographer and the location of this scene is unknown. However, this tropical beach has all of the necessary elements for a wonderful daydream or a much-needed vacation.

@bulgarianexcursions: It is the cheapest destination for a summer holiday in EU. For hints:

bulgarianexcursions on December 23, 2011:

These beaches look really fantastic but for us the Europeans they are a bit far and such a trip would be quite expensive. That is why these destinations are known mostly for attracting quite rich people. For a cheap summer holiday I would recommend Bulgaria - a good value for the money.

TheLastResort LM on December 03, 2011:

I especially like the crystal clear, light blue waters seen in the Maldives and Mexico pictures. My only concern is, are these locations truly natural, or are they beaches right next to a hotel chain - I can dream that it's the first option.
