Best Selling Outdoor Stair Treads For The Whole Year Around

I love to use outdoor stair treads at home to protect the stair at home, and most importantly to protect my family from slips and falls.

While I don't have children, I do have often guests with kids, so I try to keep them - along with any elderly who come over to my place from falling on the slippery surface outside, Afterall I don't want to cause them serious injuries when there is something I can do about it.

So indeed, especially if you have children or older people living with you, you need to do everything you can to protect their safety, and one way to do it is by using using non-slip stair treads.

While the indoor stair treads, including beautiful braided stair treads, are more decorative in nature, the outdoor stair mats ones have as main goal protecting and keeping people from falling. This is why you will see them in 'not so pretty' designs and materials.

Afterall, even if you get a good looking set of stair treads for your outdoors, the various weather conditions will quickly turn them to some ugly looking rugs. But if the material is durable, of high quality and good workmaship, they do what they're supposed to do: protect.

So here are some of the best selling outdoor stair treads (also called outdoor stair mats) that you can buy today to assure your safety and that of your family. Note that some of these stair treads and mats can be also used indoors, so don't ignore their double functionality when you can easily save money by buying them in bulk!

Outdoor Set Of 2 Stair Treads

I left this set as last in my review because I have them and I love them, but let's say I saw better quality than these. Don't get me wrong, they do last, they work, but first of all you have to buy at least 2 sets since one set has only 2 stair treads included, and the the material for these is not so strong as let's say real rubber, which I use even today for my outdoors.

But on the upside, if you care about how your lawn and garden looks, the outdoor set of 2 stair treads is for you! Because let's face it, these stair treads are pretty. They have a set of nice leaf embossed designs on them that make them attractive. When I had them earlier on, some of my neighbors actually asked me about where to buy them.

They also have an adhesive rubber backing so they stay put on your stairs or granite floor or anywhere that has a smooth surface, which can get slippery with ease.

At less than $15, you can't beat their price, so if you want something that is cheap, good looking and can protect your stairways, then all you need is to buy them! I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with your purchase.

Indoor and Outdoor Waterguard Stair Treads

This is another set of 4 stair treads in a beautiful brown, coal or green color choice, which can be used outdoors as well as indoors. The material is a bit less durable than pure rubber, however this also makes it great for indoors.

And due to the way the threads are combined with fabric squares with SBR rubber backing, you can rest assured that you will enjoy these stair treads for several years before they start to show any sign of wear and tear - and that outdoors!

And let's face it, no one wants to have the same boring stair treads for the next 10 years. Usually people do replace their old and worn stair treads every couple of years, even if just to give their outdoors a more modern look. If you get this set of stair treads, you are guaranteed to enjoy them for at lest a couple of years.

The strong SBR rubber backing makes the Waterguard stair treads strong so they will protect your stairs quite well without ever peeling off. The manufacturer guarantees long lasting life against mildew, rot and even fading, and if you want to have another color instead of brown, you can easily also choose between green and charcoal, to better match the furniture in your room (let's say when you buy it for your indoors).

anonymous on November 21, 2013:

The Waterhogs are my favorite.

In August, I moved into an old house (built in 1940). It's been a lot of fun getting it into shape. There are steps in the front and back of the house and these would be just the ticket. A good investment for my aesthetic and safety needs.

Thanks for sharing.

Stanley Green from Czech Republic on November 08, 2013:

We have those and I'm satisfied, because it is always safer mounting them on the stairs :)

BaptismalGownsP on November 07, 2013:

Thanks for this info - very informative! I want to go out and find stair treads for the stairs from our hatchway down into our basement. I am always nervous about going up and down those stairs - especially when I am carrying things or small children because they are so narrow. Stair treads would make me feel more secure. Thanks again!

rattie lm on October 03, 2013:

Thanks. I need these and hadn't even realised that they were available for outdoors.

ashleydpenn on September 21, 2013:

I must admit I clicked on this lens out of curiosity, doubtful that it would be the sort of thing I would like. We don't have so many outdoor stair treads in Europe as we are generally less litigious. Having said that, there are some lovely examples of some quite tasteful tread designs here. I think I was expecting to see industrial styled monstrosities, but these are genuinely nice, and I would consider installing them in my garden.

Michelllle on September 06, 2013:

What a great idea. I never thought stair treads could be pretty....

we were just talking about this last night. it has been raining a lot here and our back stairs are quite slippery.

Lorelei Cohen from Canada on August 09, 2012:

Getting older and having joint issues I really see the need for treads on outdoor stairways. The older you get the more likely a fall is so safety is always a priority.
