How to Make a Dryer Sheet Dispenser

After looking at hundreds of posh laundry rooms on Pinterest & then remodeling my own I learned an interesting fact...dry sheet dispensers don't exist! How can this be with so many swanky laundry rooms out there now? So being the stubborn person I am I decided to make one myself....or rather re-purpose something else that would work.

You'll find several options is a wall install & the other is a just hands on the dryer version. I of course, went with the wall install since I'm married to a handyman. They did finally produce a new gun metal gray holder that looks fairly nice and a not so great looking holder that would be best for inside the cabinet.

Option 1 Wall Mounted

This is what I used, it's a hotel grade tissue dispenser with a chrome finish. You simply need to cut a hole between the studs & it mounts in minutes. I put 2 small wood blocks (off to the sides) in mine to keep the dryer sheets in place. For around $20 you can have a cool feature in your laundry room that the neighbors most definitely won't have.

It took about 20 minutes for this project, the end result is awesome!

Option 2...The Classic

Yes this is just a standard tissue box holder, but if your looking for a little swank without cutting a hole in your wall this will do the job. I recommend keeping an old tissue box & filling it with dryer sheets...the dryer sheet boxes are a non standard shape & won't fit unless you buy the smaller sized boxes.

Oddly enough this actually costs 3 times more than the built in...figures it's simpler.

Finally! A real nice looking dryer sheet dispenser!

*As the heavens part the angels can be heard singing with the gentle sound of harps playing*

I literally have been waiting 20 years for this product to exist. Clearly I'm nailing this adulting thing because this simple item brings me great happiness.

This one is pretty swanky it can sit on the top of the dryer or mounted on the side via the handy set of magnets it comes with. The color is a classy deep grey and that appears to be the only option right now. This version is Not meant to mount on the wall, keep that in mind when making a decision. Based on how it was made it isn't really a great idea to try to mount it either. The base is basically open, so not much to work with. It's sporting a sleek silicone opening allows for smooth dispensing of dryer sheets. I would give this one a 5 star rating! I wish it could wall mount but it certainly works great with the magnets! It's a dryer sheet miracle folks.

Fabric Softener Sheet Box Holder

This one is a good alternative to drilling holes and stainless steel, it can be mounted in a cabinet to hide it or right on the wall. This was the only dryer sheet box holder/dispenser that I was able to find on the internet. It's a simple plastic device with appropriate cut-outs to pull the dryer sheets out for use. It is made to mount on the wall and there are two small screw holes in the back, but no hardware is included with the holder; instead, two adhesive tabs are included. I don't like adhering things to my walls, so I found two small screws to use instead.

Dryer Dispenser Product Hack!

Another in wall mount option...

This item is clearly made to be installed in a bathroom to dispense wet wipes.

It is also the perfect size for dryer sheets! and has a little flip top opening to keep little hands from touching the dryer sheets. So this is a bit of a product hack. But completely legit!

This one is actually pretty versatile. I mean not to go off topic but what room doesn't need a dispenser for wet wipes?

  • Bathroom: Eliminate unsightly wipe pouches lying around on your tank or on your counter-top. Forever Fresh is discrete. Reduce or eliminate toilet paper consumption via flushable wipes Place them on/in your wall, feel fresh everytime Toilet paper is the old way to clean yourself. Wet wipes are the new way to stay Forever Fresh. Great for kids, adults, and the elderly.
  • Nursery: Large enough to hold most sizes of baby wipes next to the changing table. Frees up one hand for baby by securing the wipe package
  • Kitchen: Replaced the antibacterial wipes under the sink. Handy for cleaning kids faces mid meal.
  • Laundry room: Use these in your laundry room next to the sink either for fabric softener sheets or wipes wiping down stubborn dirt that accumulates on the washer, dryer, and counter tops

Pretty cool idea but my old farmhouse has horsehair plaster walls. I don't drill through them for anything!

Not sure. We don't tend to use dryer sheets. If you do it may be on a trial basis.

Cynthia Sylvestermouse from United States on May 19, 2013:

Oh, this would be awesome! Then I could stop being smacked in the head by the box when I pull a dryer sheet out. Right now I keep them in the cabinet over the washing machine.

aishu19 on May 19, 2013:

I hardly use the dryer sheets, but I am sure the wall mounted dispense is a great idea
