Add Bold Color to Your Kitchen in a Functional Way
Black, white and stainless steel -- they're the most common colors I see in kitchen appliances. Which makes sense because they go so well in almost any home. But appliances, especially the smaller ones like blenders, coffeemakers, toasters, and other countertop gadgets, are perfect for having fun with brighter shades without what you might consider "overdoing it."
That's why I'm looking for some more of these gadgets and accessories, myself (I already have two red ones), for the kitchen in the house we're building, to add some fun color to all of the darker cabinetry and other earth tones.
So, welcome to my rainbow of small appliances, with reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues and purples. If you see something you like, you can click through and find other gadgets and accessories to match. Or go all out and really mix it up with a piece from each ribbon of the rainbow. You might just find a pot of gold on the stove.
A Rainbow of Small Kitchen Appliances
Red - Orange - Yellow - Green - Blue - Purple
If you see something you like but are looking for a different color, click through to the product listing and check out what others are available. Most of the appliances you'll see here come in a variety of colors and even different shades, like royal blue or aqua blue.
While a whole range of appliances in the same vibrant color looks great in any kitchen, another cool idea would be to have a whole rainbow of gadgets to add colorful accents to what might be an otherwise 'blah' room.
A Retro Red Breakfast Station
My Ruby Red Ice Cream, Sorbet and Frozen Yogurt Maker
A quality product that looks spiffy too....
So far, we've made three batches of sorbet (one we messed up because we didn't follow the recipe and two were delish) and two yummy batches of ice cream, so I can safely say that this machine works very well.
FYI, keep the inner red container in the freezer, so it's really cold and ready to go when you need a cold, tasty fix ... FAST.
See the 1.5-quart Cuisinart ICE-21R Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker on Amazon, where I've often seen it marked down as much as 50 percent.
Brew It and Mix It in Red
This mixer has a rubber foot, so it won't go dancing across (or off) the counter while it's doing its thing. Well, that's good to know.
It's also got an off-center mixing bowl, which makes it easier to add ingredients without having to remove it or stop the machine.
A Cute Cuisinart Coffeemaker in Red
I've always had good luck with Cuisinart appliances. This one is just the right size for a single coffee drinker (who can still have a significant other) who wants just a cup or two or a travel mug-full to go.
The machine will shut itself off after 30 minutes, so no worries if you forget to do that before you leave the house.
An Orange Cuisinart Food Processor
Bold Orange Countertop Appliances
I have the ice cream/sorbet maker shown here (except in red to match my rice cooker) and give it the thumb's up.
The first batch of sorbet (blueberry) didn't turn out so hot -- it was really cold, actually -- but that was because of me, not the machine. I should have actually followed the directions that come with the machine. Second try, though (chocolate sorbet) was great. So was the vanilla ice cream, which was easier to make.
And we've made gelato in this, too.

Retro Green Small Cooking Gadgets
These make me think of the "Leave it to Beaver" show ... although I don't think "Leave it to Beaver" was in color, was it?
This lovely mixer may look retro, but it's totally up-to-date, with 12 variable speeds, 3-way mixing action, a 350-watt motor and a die cast metal body combined with non-skid rubber feet. With the off-center position of the 4.6-quart mixing bowl, you can add ingredients while it's running.
This is the same mixer as the one pictured above in red. It comes in other pretty colors, too.
A Minty Green Mixer
A Bright, Sky-Blue Toaster
Sometimes the sky really is this blue here in Arizona, especially when you're looking up through the walls of a canyon. But anyway....
You definitely don't see this color in many kitchens, so if you're going for something unique and that makes a (happy) statement, and you happen to love blue, then there are plenty of other small appliances that match this one.
A Bright Sky-Blue Toaster
Royal Blue Appliances
Heck, even if you don't cook, these are pretty enough just to have sitting around for looks.
Last I checked, this KitchenAid mixer came in 42 different colors, so if it's blue you like but not this shade, there's probably the shade you do want. Given the cost of these -- they're pricey! -- you may as well get the color you like.
A Deep Metallic Purple Programmable Coffee Maker
This is another color you don't see coming and going (or sitting on the counter) in people's kitchens, so yours will definitely stand out and make a statement -- a fun and pretty one -- with purple appliances like this one.
