Virtual Beach Living Anywhere
Relax at the Beach Without Leaving Home
You can live in the middle of the Mojave desert and still have the ocean waves surround you with a beach theme décor. It doesn't matter where you live as beach living is a state of mind - an environment that can be created within your own home and lifestyle.
The beach has the innate ability to transport the soul from everyday stresses to relaxation; something we all crave. The sound of the ocean waves are constant and soothing. Looking out over the ocean to an infinite sea of blue and experiencing the most beautiful sunsets eyes have ever witnessed. There's also a sense of smell of the salty water and the deep breaths that naturally follow.
This is the essence needed to capture the natural elements in your home; triggering and allowing your senses to enjoy the creation of virtual beach living - without leaving home.
Ocean & Beach Murals or Decals
Relax with your Ocean View
Imagine decorating your garden, patio, breakfast room or any room with an ocean or beach wall mural. You can use any wall in any room to decorate the environment to look like you're at the beach (see wall mural photo). There are so many to choose from and the change to your room is instant. You'll smell the ocean breeze.
Want something a little bit more than just a wall art decal? Bring the essence of beach living into your home with vibrant beach scene wallpaper murals that cover an entire wall. Designed as wallpaper to decorate and cover your bare walls.
Changing your environment changes your attitude. Think about adding it to your bedroom to enjoy a peaceful sleep, and waking up to the joy of the ocean.

Decorate Your Patio or Balcony
Find some great beach chairs and place them around a fire pit. Then let the breeze sing a song of nature. Wind chimes are such a pleasant sound - as soothing as the ocean breeze.
String lights designed with beach decor; such as sea horses, starfish or surf boards will add to the ambiance. You can even use a mister to create moisture and a sense of water in the air.
Sit outside on a beautiful night around the fire pit. Snack on pineapple chunks. You can even add a fountain for that soothing sound of running water. It'll be so relaxing you may fall asleep out there.
Fill Your Home With Beach Music
Any beach music, no matter what you choose, would be remiss without The Beach Boys. They have a genius way of magically transporting us right into summer at the beach. The moment one of their songs begin - it's all fun in the sun.
Another great artist who's all about beaching living is Jimmy Buffett. His music is tops. Imagine Marqueritaville playing while sipping your favorite drink around the fire pit.
Create a music playlist of your favorite beach songs - or even music that takes you to that special relaxing place in your mind.

Sound of Ocean Waves Crashing on Shore
Experience a beach theme with the sounds of the ocean with a sound machine. You can choose between waves crashing into shore or a more gentle flow of the constant tide. It brings in the sense of sound which is one of the elements of creating beach living within your own home. It's also a great relaxation and sleep aid.
Enjoy the sound of the ocean waves wherever you go. I like to listen while driving in my car. It's so relaxing.
A sound machine will have various different choices besides the sound of ocean waves; such as rain forest, running creeks, train ride, thunderstorm, etc. Depending on your mood, the volume can be set high or low.

Take a Virtual Trip to the Beach - Bring the Beach Living Experience into Your Home
Another element of creating your own beach theme is the visual ambiance of an ocean view/beachfront home, and the constant sound of the crashing waves. Remember the DVDs of fireplaces with flames jumping from your television set? Well, if you have Roku or YouTube available on your TV, tune it in for streaming video of ocean waves.
If not, you can still enjoy beach living with DVDs of the ocean waves and sandy beaches that will create the beach theme mood throughout your home. I have a friend who keeps one running in her bedroom day and night.
Watch sunrises and sunsets, hear the birds and see the ocean tides swirling over and around coves. You'll soon be feeling the ocean breeze on your face. The moving images of these beautiful beaches will create a mood of beach living and a sense of well-being.

Dog Day Afternoon at the Beach
A Dog Day Afternoon At The Beach
Or Why I Prefer Creating My Own Beach House Décor
I have lived by the ocean, but the irony is, I didn't enjoy going to the "beach." Packing for the day was burdensome. There's no natural shade, so I'd have to carry an umbrella, towels, folding chair, sunblock, ice chest and all other accessories. If you've ever taken a trip to the beach, then you know just what I'm talking about.
You arrive at the beach, find a parking spot and now the journey begins. Toting all the necessary beach equipment involves the walk from parking my car and treking across the hot sand in sinking flip flops. Sure, you can tell yourself it's great for the leg muscles, but you collapse once you find that perfect spot.
The beaches are usually crowded and the ocean water is cold. The seaweed gets tangled in my feet and I was once stung by a jellyfish. And then, when it's all over, the sand and mud trail me from the beach to the car and back home.
But somewhere between the "sand"wich and the sunburn you have that moment of Zen! Looking out over the unending sea imagining the other side of the world while listening to the ocean sound of constant waves crashing into the shore. Relaxation sets in with the deep breathing of healthy negative ions and the excitement of a possible dolphin sighting. Breathlessly awaiting the oncoming sunset on the beach.
Nothing Better Than a Real Beach Vacation
I may not be a fan of "A Day At The Beach" but I love "Beach Vacations"
Beach vacations are the best experience for spending time at the ocean. Staying in a hotel right on the beach with a balcony overlooking the ocean - you step outside the door - and you're on the sand.
Beach attendants bring you a chair and towel, adjust the umbrella and ask if you'd like a drink while you're reading your book; checking your watch periodically for your scheduled massage.
My favorite place to stay is the pet-friendly Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach
At night, you can leave your balcony doors open and hear the waves crashing into shore as you fall asleep. When you awake, while having your morning coffee, you watch the surfers as you scan the ocean for dolphin sightings.
Alas, that's not an occurrence that happens often - but enough to keep me dreaming about my next beach vacation.
Meanwhile, I live vicariously at the beach while in my desert home.

The fresh air, the sounds, and of course dipping your toes in the water while sitting in a nice chair. And don't forget something to sip on.

The sound of the turf, of course. But the visuals of the wall decors transports me to another place and time. Thanks for the great ideas.

I just love being at the beach. But the one thing that drives me bonkers is if the kids run over my carefully laid out towel, with their dandy feet grrrrrr!
