Stop Throwing Away Banana Peels
It would be wise to stop throwing away banana peels. Most people don't even know the benefits that are at their fingertips.
When you throw away banana peels, you are also throwing away money. And nobody in their right mind would knowingly throw money away.
Eat Banana Peels
First of all, did you know you can eat banana peels? It is estimated that Americans eat about 3.2 billion pounds of bananas every year, and almost just as many do not eat the peels even though they could.
Banana peels are loaded with nutrients that are good for your health. They contain some of the same ingredients as the banana such as vitamin B, magnesium, magnesium, and potassium.
If you don't feel comfortable eating the peel along with your banana, be creative and include it in your foods. Chop up the peel in your fruit salad. Throw it in the blender along with other ingredients for your next smoothie.
Cook with Banana Peels
Add a banana peel to your pan when you cook meats such as roasts, chicken, pork chops, and steaks. The peel will add flavor, and the acids in the banana will act as a natural meat tenderizer.
Shines Shoes
There is a simple remedy for leather shoes that are scuffed. Rub the inside of the banana peel on the shoes and use a soft cloth to buff them. The potassium and other ingredients in them will make your shoes look just as if you had used store-bought polish.
The same thing works on other leather objects as well such as handbags, coats, and luggage.
Polish Silverware and Aluminum Pots and Pans
You can spruce up your kitchen by using banana peels to polish your silverware. Rub it on to polish and then buff it off with a soft cloth.
Keep your aluminum pots and pans shiny by polishing them with the banana peels that you would normally throw away.
Relieves Insect Bites
People who have been bitten by bugs, mosquitos and other insects no longer need to suffer in pain or itching. They can rub the inside of a banana peel on the bite or sting.
The polysaccharides of the peel will draw fluid from the bite. The pain, itching, and swelling will go away.
Eliminates Skin Problems
It is easy to get rid of blemishes, bruises, acne, psoriasis, dry skin, rashes, wrinkles, and warts when you use a banana peel. Simply rub the inside of a banana peel on your skin. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes or longer. You do not have to rinse it off with water. Repeat the procedure three times a day and you will see a big difference in your skin.
The restorative and healing properties in banana peels will help eliminate rashes, blemishes, itches, bruises and other skin discomforts. Also, the natural oils in the peel will make your skin as good as new.
Protects Eyes and Cures Headaches
Eliminate tired eyes by placing pieces of banana peel under them for a while. If you do this over a period of time, you will discover that you will not need cataract surgery later on in life.
Headache sufferers have reported that their pain subsided when they placed a banana peel on their forehead for a few minutes.
Whiten Teeth
You do not have to be stuck with dingy teeth, and you do not have to buy expensive whitening toothpaste or kits. All you have to do is to rub the inside of a banana peel on your teeth for about two minutes. You still have to brush your teeth to remove the residue.
This works because of the contents of potassium, manganese, magnesium, astringent salicylic acid, and bleaching citric acid in the peel. If you use this diligently for a few weeks, you will have whiter teeth.
Additional Uses for Banana Peels
- Deodorize your car by leaving a banana peel inside. Change every other day.
- You no longer have to purchase Preparation H because banana peels will do the same thing if you suffer from uncomfortable hemorrhoids.
- Drinking boiled banana peels or juicing them will help eliminate depression.
- Tape a piece of banana peel over a splinter that's in your skin. After about 30 minutes, the enzymes in the peel will soften the skin and the splinter will move around. This will allow you to easily pull it out.
