11 Pegboard Alternatives to Upgrade Your Storage Game

There's no doubt about it - I am a huge fan of pegboards - I have them in my Garage, Home Office and Kitchen.

Pegboards are a handy storage solution for organizing your home, garage, or workspace. That said, they often can be quite expensive - so it makes sense if you're looking for something a little different (or even just a change of pace), there are plenty of other storage options out there.

That's exactly what I want to get into in this post - here are eleven of my favorite pegboard alternatives:

1. Magnetic Strip Bars

These are basically like giant magnet strips that you can attach to your wall. They are perfect for holding metal tools and utensils in your kitchen or garage. You can even use them to hold pictures or other light items on your fridge.

Once you're finished with a knife or a tool - you can just hang it up on the magnetic strip instead of leaving it on the counter or in a drawer. This is a great way to declutter your space and keep things organized. The most common use is the magnetic knife rack you see in kitchens.

2. Command Hooks

If you're not looking to permanently mount anything to your walls, then command hooks are a great alternative. They come in all different sizes and can hold a variety of different items.

I like to use them in my office to hang up pictures, notes, and other things that I need quick access to. You can also use them in your kitchen or bathroom to hang towels, robes, or even spices.

I think these are probably the closest alternative to pegboards. You can use them in your garage or workshop to organize your tools. Or you can use them in your office or home to organize art supplies, books, or any other miscellaneous items.

7. Hanging Shelves

Sounds pretty simple - however hanging shelves are a great way to store things that you need quick access to. They come in all different sizes and can be hung on the wall or from the ceiling.

You could use them in my office to store books, binders, or other items that I need quick access to. You can also use them in your kitchen or bathroom to store spices, towels, or any other small items.

Specifically floating shelves they’re perfect for displaying items like books, plants, and picture frames. And, they come in a variety of colors and styles to match any decor.

8. Door Racks

If you're looking for a way to store spices, oils, or other small items, a cabinet door storage rack is a great option. It mounts to the inside of your cabinet door and keeps things within easy reach.

Likewise, you can use over-the-door storage with things like a shoe rack - that is a great way to store shoes, boots, and other footwear. It's perfect for small spaces and can be hung over any standard door.
