One trend in 21st century decorating in that of including narrow refrigerators in kitchens, recreation rooms - even home offices and bedrooms!
Refrigerators Are Trending Toward Narrow
Thanks for asking an interesting question about the maker and availability of the IKEA 27" wide refrigeratror/freezer combination, gredmondson! I believe that I have found the information that you need, from both European and American sites for IKEA.
A number of large and small restaurant supply companies manufacture and sell a variety of brands of narrow refrigerators for the Dining Industry in the commercial sector.
Some home chefs actually purchase these brands and models right out of their local showrooms, but these units cost several thousands of dollars, new. In fact, they cost as much as some new cars. However, IKEA manufactures a line of narrow refrigerators that fit in well with about any home décor and many budgets.
Frostig CFS 310 S
IKEA advertises in the UK that they carry the FROSTIG CFS 310 S Refrigerator/Freezer combination in a narrow width for £195.00, which would be about $246 USD in early 2014. There is a notation on a French website that Whirlpool makes this model, but there is no additional information listed about it.
The FROSTIG CFS 310 S includes practical doors that can be mounted to open to the right or to the left, making it the most functional for your individual kitchen.
The width of the unit is 55 cm or around 33 inches, while the height is approximately 58 inches and the depth is about 27.5 inches.
This unit is freestanding and may be equipped with a panel so that it looks like a kitchen cabinet instead of a refrigerator/freezer. It apparently requires some assembly upon receiving the unit, and is forecast to use 285 kWh per year of energy. During a power outage, it can keep foods cold for up to twelve hours if its door remains closed.
Energisk B18 W
IKEA in America carries the 28" wide ENERGISK B18 W Refrigerator/Freezer at $349.00.
This unit is available in IKEA stores, but not on the website. The designer is IKEA of Sweden and overall unit dimensions are 28 " Wide x 32 7/8 " Deep x 68 " Tall. It also requires some assembly when it is received. Additional data:
- Capacity of fridge compartment: 14 cu.ft.
- Capacity of the freezer: 4 cu.ft.
- 2 ice cube trays included.
- 1 transparent crisper included.
It may or ay not come in a bottom-mount model, so check the website for its frquent updates and new model announcement.

This narrow refrigerator is not an IKEA product, but it is an American made product whose parent company is also Swedish, as is IKEA: Electrolux..
The Frigidaire pictured is narrow and black to make a striking addition to the home kitchen. It is 26.8 inches wide, 23,8 inches in depth, and 59.8 inches high, or approximately 27" x 2 ft. x 6 ft. At this size, it provides 10 cubic feet of food storage space.
Founded during the year 1918 in the Midwest in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Frigidaire became synonymous with the word "refrigerator" in the 1960s. Now, most people call the appliance a "fridge." For 60 years, the company was owned by General Motors, but became independently owned in Dayton, Ohio. Sold to a sewing machine company, it eventually was owned by Electrolux in the mid-1980s. Producing many lines of appliances in the 2010s, the company is still owned by Electrolux (most well known for vacuum cleaners) and operating out of North Carolina.
Here is an outdoor showroom one does not often see.

You can buy the slightly smaller, 24" wide version (10 cu. ft. capacity) from any local home improvement or appliance store for $350. My office just bought one last week from Lowe's, model ET0MSRXTL. It was very light; incredibly easy for 2 people to carry. I don't even think it could have weighed 80 lbs. We were able to completely fit it into a station wagon for the short trip down the road.

Anita, I think they are simpler to install that larger, wider refrigerators. However, if the IKEA store is near you, perhaps they will delvier it and install it for you. Best wishes!

Is the IKEA fridge hard to install?

If their refrigerators are made from Whirlpool, then it's reliable.
