Here's some of my favorite ways to decorate your home for a fraction of the cost of buying items in the high street.
Check out this site for even more DIY Budget Decor Ideas.
1.Glass Tiles Instead Of Grout In The Bathroom Tile Floor
This is a really novel way of adding some bling to your flooring and won't break the bank either. Would work best in kitchens and bathrooms.
2. Get Creative with a Paint Roller
By tying rubber bands over your roller brush you can create really awesome textures and styles. This would work best in spaces where you can really express yourself and aren't afraid to make a few mistakes!
3. DIY Pallet Coffee Table
I love pallet crafts! And this one is perfect for creating a really stylish coffee table for your living room - for a fraction of the cost of retail outlets. You could also double up the pallets if you want some extra height. You can always ask your local Dublin handyman to help you get pallets - maybe discarded ones from a building site.
4. Washer & Dryer Makeover
Okay who'd have ever thought of blingin' up your washer and dryer? But not only do they look awesome, it's so cheap and quick to do - all you need is a couple of rolls of washi tape and a spare hour!
5. Silver Artwork
This is all about turning your trash into treasure. If you have some old cutlery and picture frames - then if you grab some spray paint then you're all set for making your very own 'silver artwork'!
6. Wallpaper Covered Sockets
Again this is so simple, but brilliant! Simply add wallpaper to your sockets and light switches and you've a really subtle way of adding interest to your decor.
7. Spray Painted Bottles as Vases
So what do you do with all those empty wine bottles, throw them out?? Not so fast! Grab some spray paint and make these funky vases - and of course, you can use any colors you like!
8. Letters from Reclaimed Lumber
Reclaimed barn wood is so awesome. It immediately adds character to your home yet can be picked up for next to nothing.
The tutorial (under the pic) shows in detail how to create this gorgeous wall sign that would enhance kitchens of all styles.
9. Textured Wallpaper on Stairs
If your family are committed to the 'no wearing shoes' in the house rule, then you could jazz up your stairway panels with some textured wallpaper, without the fear of them being smudged and torn by big dirty shoes, sneakers and boots!
10. Emergency Chocolate Craft
Seriously love this. And it shows that all décor ideas don't have to be too serious! The only problem I'd have is that - I have a chocolate emergency every day and would end up with a floor of broken glass very quickly...
11. Spray Painted Wood Chairs
If you've got a beautifully pristine white kitchen that's lacking a bit of color and personality - then try out this idea for adding various splashes of color.
Also spray painting your chairs is a great way to cover over and scrapes, scratches and marks - so totally revamping them and giving them a new lease of life. Total win-win!
12. Coffee Stirrer DIY Wall Art
This is probably my favorite out of all the ideas. Get yourself a bunch of coffee stirrers and get painting - and you'll soon have this work of art hanging on your wall!
13. Use Rope as Curtain Ring to Add a Nautical Touch
Okay so maybe you cant' afford the yacht just yet - but that doesn't mean you can't have a touch of the nautical theme in your home. Just follow the brilliant tutorial to see how to make this!
14. Use Vintage Wallpaper on an Old Dresser
This is a great way to upcycle old furniture, especially old furniture that's probably still really solid and well made but just needs a revamp. Better still, you could use up all your odd bits and ends of different wallpaper on this project.
15. Herringbone Bookcase Makeover
For all you lovers of patterns, then check out this brilliant way to add interest to your open cabinets and shelving. Takes a little bit of time to trace out the herringbone pattern - but once you're done, you'll have loads of fun painting it in!
16. Book Stack Stair
And last but not least, this is just about the coolest idea I've seen in a long time! The paint job looks a bit professional - but you can use stencils and other to tolls to create the effect quite easily. So get out your favorite book covers and get to work!!
