BookBabie Blogs About Six-Word Memoir in February 2008, Her Meme or Chain Letter Becomes A Huge Success
Last February, when the book was headed for the bestseller list, a blogger named BookBabie took a hold of the idea and the potential of the internet with the six-word memoir concept. The popularity of the idea may be attributed to the fact that it is easy to do (well, relatively) and anyone can submit their own memoir easily.BookBabie turned the challenge into a 'meme'. A meme is similar to a chain letter in the blogging world. The meme asked you to write your memoir and add a link to someone else's blog. As a result of this and the books popularity, a search of the term 'six-word memoir' today will net over 350,000 hits.

The Squidoo Community's Life In A Six-Word Sentence
Here is how you, the Squidoo community, summed up your life in six words. I have tried creating my six-word sentence (as you will be able to see in a moment) and I know it is not easy. I penned four possible life sentences for myself, none were perfect or quite right but I finally chose one to post. Please read these for inspiration and then add yours at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately, I am no longer able to add these to this page but you can still share your quotes in the comment section.

Mrs. Nixon's Third-Graders' Six-Word Storybook
Smith launched the six-word memoir challenge in late 2006 and published the book early in 2008. I would say that the project has been like a runaway train. Since then the idea has taken off around the world and includes:A reverend in North Carolina who gave six-word prayers.A book blogger who created a six-word memoir "meme" that is active in thousands of blogs.A Squidoo lens. (You are reading it!)Classrooms around the world. One class in South Jersey put together a beautiful booklet. Larry Smith visited the class and found that, "six graders are intense and intelligent little beasts, and that third graders are simply brilliant."Quotes from that book include:"Eight years old, combed hair twice." -Noah"Hate some boys but like others." - Sarah"Wish everyday was a bed day." - Emily"Nine years stacked within my soul." - Laura"A kids life is my life." - KionTo read the entire booklet this classroom created, visit Mrs. Nixon's Third-Graders' Six-Word Storybook.
(This Song Is Just) Six Words Long -- Weird Al Yankovic - Six-Word Memoirs Music Video
A tribute video to a modern genius called Al -- Weird Al. It was only a matter of time before Weird Al released his take on six-word memoirs and it is a lightly entertaining song, well put together in this YouTube video. It made me smile.
Finally, this one is for my fourteen and my sixteen year old sons, it is absolutely, positively true. They have their whole lives ahead of them."Fourteen years old, story still untold."

A Perfect Christmas or Hostess Gift
Amazingly inexpensive, this wonderful book is selling from Amazon for under $10. I think it would be a perfect Christmas or Hostess gift. Every year I search for one perfect item that would suit many people on my gift-giving list. For instance, one year it was The Da Vinci Code, another a popular James Patterson book. This year, I am thinking it just might be this book, Not Quite What I Had Planned. If you and I are thinking alike or if you would just like to purchase a single copy of this book, you can buy it directly from Amazon by simply clicking on the following link.
"Ex-wife and Contractor Now Have House." -- Anonymous
It was very surprising what some people wrote in their six words. Some people were incredibly open...stories were sad or humorous or serious and often poignant. Now it is your turn to sum up your life in a six word sentence. Even if you are not a member of Squidoo, you can leave your sentence. It is no simple task. I have tried it; you will see what I mean. I penned four possible life sentences for myself, none were perfect or quite right. Don't aim for perfection...just leave something, in six words, that tells us all about you. I know you are up to the challenge! Please use this space for your six word sentence. You can consider it an experiment, after all your life is still evolving! And YES, please feel free to come back and leave another six words!!!

Here are 7 (sorry)"Talent is desire, the rest is practice" ~Kathy Ostman-MagnusenI think so often people think that 'talent' is just something you are born with; that artists come into life having a talent that they don't struggle for. Not true! I spend HOURS sketching, reading and actually doing art. I have been working to become a better artist through the years because I was born with a 'desire' for art. My desire was cradled with practice, talent did not just magically appear. Ahh so end of soapbox! Smile

What a wonderful idea. There are so many quotes that lend new reasoning to our set ways, new doors that had not been opened before.. at least that is what I think when I find a new one (new to me) quote that speaks to me. FIVE WELL QUOTED STARSAloha from Kathy~~*~~

Trusted God, felt discouraged, trusted more. Without a 6 word limit I'd observe that even though it's said you can't live long enough to make ALL the mistakes, it is possible to make a great run at it... :)
