At times we are a leaf rushing through the air being swept, dropped, and itinerant without any rhyme or reason.
Our bearing is dictated by the circumstances around us, if it floods we float. As the winds gust; we soar. Where we land, how we travel are for the Gods of the Earth to decide.
And then there are stints when we divide rivers, move mountains and let the sun know when it may shine. We can tame the powers from above; we can harness the power within us.
Is it our thoughts that limit our powers? Does it truly rest within us? Do we inherently know all the answers to all the uncertain? Or is it simply an illusion, trickery fashioned by the chaotic nature of life?
How can we rule the world and define our fate one minute – only to become frantically lost, grasping for an anchor-point the next?
I have found that when we let fate decide, when we float down the river expecting to reach an oasis. Nothing ever happens, we end up hopelessly lost and drifting.
Yet, if we believe that we control all that becomes of us, we become frustrated and discouraged. Life drags us down - pulling at our feet, tripping us at every turn.
The magic ensues when we realize exactly what we control and determine our obligation to the world.
When we understand that we only have the capability to govern our actions and our emotions. We cannot stop the rain from falling - only shelter ourselves and sometimes others, while we wait for it to pass.
We cannot become irritated when the chaos of life alters what we had planned or just sit waiting for our dreams to appear out of thin air. We must find balance - influencing what we can while gracefully accepting what we cannot change.
We must learn to become a leaf through the gusts that sweep us off the ground, accept where we land, then muster up the strength to move the mountains set in our path.
