Memorial Poems, Quotes and Gifts: Remembering My Father
An Inspirational Memorial Poem about Death in Memory of My Father
I originally wrote this memorial death poem in August 2009 as part of an art and poetry collection that I was developing. The original poem was inspired by an abstract metal painting that I had named "My Fathers Mask". Then today as I got ready to post the original poem on my blog I realized that it was September 5th, the tenth anniversary of my father's death. You may call it coincidence if you wish, but I do not believe in coincidences. So I decided to rewrite the original poem as a memorial poem in honor of my late father. My intention in creating this lens is to remember my father and at the same time bring comfort to those of you who are grieving the death of a loved one. I hope that the inspirational memorial poems, fathers death quotes and memorial gifts in this lens are of some help to you. For more encouragement you can read inspirational death quotes and poems here. This memorial poem is titled, "My Fathers Mask: Death the Journey Home." and it is dedicated to my dear father, the late Chief Justice Z.R. Chesoni, who passed away on September 5th, 1999. He was a special man and a wonderful father and I thank God for blessing me with such a great dad. He did not have a mask in his study but he had plenty of books and he loved to read and learn. He passed this love for the written word on to all of us and he always said that knowledge was the one thing that nobody could take away from you. Two of my father's favorite poems that I cherish to this day are "Rudyard Kipling's, If" and "Don't Quit." These two inspirational poems encourage me and keep me going whenever my spirits are low. I find solace in reading my fathers favorite poems and I know that even if he is gone from this world he is still watching over me. Rest in Peace, dear Papa, you will always be loved and cherished. When you follow in the path of your father, you learn to walk like him. ~ African Proverb

Memorial Poem: My Fathers Mask, Death the Journey Home
A Memorial Death Poem by Injete Chesoni
My father has a mask
That hangs up in his study,
It is bronze and earthy,
With scary eyes.
It has a surprised mouth,
that holds the key
to some deep and dark mystery.
One day long ago
I asked him,
What deep dark secrets he hid,
In that strange mask
That hung up in his study.
Is it the key to your secrets
that you never told mother and I?
Or is it the key to your heart
where your love for us lies?
No, he told me with a serious
far away look in his eyes,
It is the key to my homeland,
that I left a long time ago,
It reminds me of where I came from,
And where I shall go.
I regarded him quizzically,
For it was unusual for him
to be so full of mystery.
Father of what are you talking?
And he snapped out of his reverie.
Never mind my dear,
he said placatingly.
I will tell you when you are old
enough to understand,
the stories about my homeland,
and its deep mystery.
When you go there will you take us with you I pled,
He looked at me gravely and shook his head,
Each one must make their own journey my dear,
But there will always be a home there for you so never fear.
Now my father has gone to his home,
He is no longer with us
But I know that I am not alone.
I look up at the mask that hangs in his study,
And I know that he is watching over me.
I remember those words that he said a long time ago
And they bring me comfort and ease my sorrow.
There will always be a home for you my dear
So let your heart rest easy and never ever fear.
This death memorial poem is dedicated to my dear Father, the late Chief Justice Z.R. Chesoni who passed away on September 5th, 1999.

Memorial Gifts and Ideas to Remember Your Loved One By
I am constantly trying to think of a special memorial gift that I can give my mother in memory of my late father and nothing ever really seems appropriate. While I was researching ideas for the blog post in memory of my dad I discovered a whole range of memorial gifts that I had not thought of. Some of you may find these gift ideas helpful if you are stuck for options like I was. If you are creative you have a variety of memorial gifts that you can make. For example, I intend to create a framed art poster of this memorial poem at Zazzle for my mother. I can never quite persuade her to go online. I emailed the blog post of the poem and art piece to my siblings and I may make them posters too. You can create posters free of charge at Zazzle but make sure that you retain them as a private product if you do not wish to sell them to the public. I also intend to develop a book of poems for my father, you can do this for free at Lulu. If you are not poetic but you have nice photos of your loved ones you can also create a memorial photo book to share with your family. If you are not creative but like memorial poems you can buy a memorial plaque or memorial frame featuring a poem that you like. In some cases you can even personalize the plaque. Another nice memorial keepsake is a memorial box which you can store mementos in. You can create your own memorial box at Cafepress or you can buy ready made ones at Amazon. My mother is constantly searching for ideas to decorate my father's graveside which is on our farm. I came across memorial garden stones, stepping stones and memorial benches which are all suitable for the outdoors. You can have these made for you with your own message or you can buy ready made ones with a memorial poem or inspirational death quote. I also liked the idea of a memorial angel watching over my father's grave. So aside from writing a memorial poem today I also got some great memorial gift ideas which should make my mother happy.

Death Memorial Poem: Forever Remembered
by Injete Chesoni
Even after life is gone
In our hearts your love lingers on
Even after you have left our sight
In our thoughts
your light shines bright
Even after you are gone
In our memories
you forever live on.

Fathers Funeral Memorial Poem
A Psalm of Life
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
-Henry Longfellow

my hero, my go to guy, no protector, my DAD left me March 31, 2000 - 13 years ago to join my beloved mother who passed away April 5, 1986 they had been apart for 14 years and they missed each other so - but now I am an orphan with no parents and I miss them every day so very much but in what's left of my broken heart I believe they are together once again and that gives me comfort. So as the anniversary of both their deaths comes nearer I want to say I LOVE YOU BOTH, I MISS YOU BOTH and it hurts so very very much ...........your daughter Sharon

Does anyone have an idea to give to youngg adult children who lost their father. I have a charm bracket and last year got a all picture frame and put material on it from a shirt. My son got a favorite tie lined with the same material. Any suggestions? pvferrari111@gmail.com
