Night and Day (a collection)

A New Day

Every night gives us a chance to assess the day. Every new day can be a chance for a "do over" if needed. I am one who looks at each new year, new month, birthday (you get the picture!) as a new beginning. How blessed are we that we are always allowed to go back and "fix" it if necessary?! I am not saying that everything we do needs to be fixed. I am simply saying that, like any new beginning, morning has the potential for a fresh new start! If all is well in your world, then lucky you, today is another amazing day to continue it! I go to sleep many nights thinking about the day and hoping for another one just as good or even half as good. I also go to sleep many nights wishing that things hadn't happened as they did. Hoping for a chance to "make it right" Whichever it is, I am thankful for the morning. In Judaism, we are taught to give thanks to G-d for returning our soul back to us each morning. This prayer is meant to be said before all else. It is suggested that we use it to contemplate. I tend to do more of my contemplating before I sleep. Upon reflection, I realize that in so doing, I am concentrating on the past instead of welcoming and embracing a brand new day!

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment."~ Buddha

Another day

Another day

A fresh start

A new beginning

A chance to do it all over again

erase the page

tear it up

throw it away

start fresh

black, ominous, enveloping

It cradles me in its darkness

holding me with invisible bonds

I am afraid to surrender

into the unknown

into the abyss

Hope and promise

A new day unfolds

like the petals of a flower

in the morning

dew glistening, sparkling,

its face

full of hope and promise

Every night, before I sleep

I stop, take inventory, so to speak

A chance to go over, a chance to review

To build upon what's working and to start anew

Oh, lucky, lucky, lucky me. To let my experiences of today

Teach me to enjoy a better, more productive way!

a brand new day

These are beautiful thoughts. We have another chance to find a new beginning every day. It is our choice as to what we make of it. Thanks for the reminder. Loved the video.

Thank you! I am so honored to have you here reading my hubs! I just found that video when I was preparing this hub! It's a good one! The nightmare picture was not planned, just kinda captured me (pardon the pun!) when I saw it! Thanks again!

We all flounder in the beginning! If I can be of any other help just let me know.

Thank you, billybuc! I'm glad you came back! I like your profile also. You have already taught me so much! Thank you for helping me become a true member of the hub community. I was floundering in this venue. I joined it for one reason and stayed for another. Thanks for being a big part of the reason I am here!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on September 13, 2012:

I came back to this because....well....because I like your profile and I like the person you appear to be. Wonderful poem.....there is a greeting I learned a long time ago that applies somewhat...."Have a great day unless you have made other plans." I get to choose daily what kind of day I am going to have....positive energy breeds positive actions....and so today I choose to be happy!
