Write Successfully by Planning Your Daily Activities

I enjoy writing about personal experiences with my family. I am interested in traveling, any culture, ancestry relationships and animals.

My Daily Plan

Over the past few months I have been trying to perfect my writing habits, deciding what works for me and what doesn't. I have reviewed my articles trying to see which ones have been the most successful, and I am trying to upgrade articles to make sure they are current.

Regardless, I am moving forward. I have a “Plan Ahead” document that has numerous possible topics, so I don’t waste time trying to think up a topic for an article. I add ideas to my list when they occur.

I think carefully about my title, and try out several different ones. I also think about what picture or pictures to include in the article.

My Energy Focus

I am a morning person, so writing in the morning is almost always my plan.

I am following the Pareto Principle, which is the 80-20 rule. It states for most outcomes, about 80% of the results come from 20% of the causes. Where do I want to focus my energy?

I try to break my writing up into segmented sections, so I can identify which part of my work is most effective or influential. I want to use my time efficiently.

Some decisions I have made include:

  • I find it helpful to keep a daily journal.
  • I have a Plan Ahead document to store new writing ideas.
  • I make an outline most of the time.
  • I use Google Docs for writing as it highlights my errors, but Grammarly is also very good.
  • I try to carefully read my finished product out loud before publishing as I make mistakes when I hurry, especially typos due to arthritis.
  • I use Sharethrough to check my titles.
  • I put more effort into deciding on the tags to use.

I also strive to write evergreen articles, which means the information will still be valid 5 or 10 years from now. Obviously that does not apply to some of the amusing challenges we write.

Some Say Views Are Dropping

We know Google changed their algorithm in September, and we do not know if that has caused a drop in our reads. Writing evergreen articles will probably do better with this new algorithm.

Identifying the tasks that you want to focus on will enhance your chances of success. List all the things you need to do for the day, then identify the things that create the largest impact.

What Is Evergreen Content?

Engagement With Other Authors

To be successful on Hubpages you have to read the articles of other writers, which I do enjoy. I have noticed that some people who used to comment on my articles regularly seem to have left Medium, so building new relationships is imperative.

I try to comment frequently, and I read the ‘About Me’ page if they have one to get to know them better.

Write As Often As Possible

I have found that I must publish very frequently, at least once a day. Try to help someone else solve a problem as you build your community. Write from your heart as sincerity is always what everyone desires. I like to write medical articles that help others. I will always be a nurse at heart.
