Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 28 (Stars)

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 28 is an article to help inspire our creativity.

I choose a single word prompt encouaging others to write a poem, a short story, a song or any combination.

The only requirement is to relax and have fun writing.

My Alma Mater

Each year when football season begins, we always attend the first home game at our alma mater, which is the high school where we both graduated.

This year was no exception.

Lots of things have changed since we attended. The hallways we walked are no longer there.

In the name of progress the old school was torn down and several new buildings were built. All grades, Kindergarten to 12th, are now located in the same area.

I have to admit it makes me feel like I'm an old fossil, but these buildings have all the newest technology.

In any case, the game was great. We won 42 to 28.

There was a moment in the game when a player from the opposite team was injured. As I stood there watching, my heart sank.

I was so proud of these kids. The entire football team removed their helmets and knelt down on one knee until the player was able to get up and walk off the field.

Maybe there is hope for our youth yet.

Inspire Your Muse

The best way for us to get our muse in a creative mode is to read poetry.

So if you don't regularly cast your eye at poetry, I want to encourage you to start reading at least one poem a day.

If you already look through poetry daily, then choose to read one that is a different style or theme from what you usually prefer.

You might find yourself wanting to write a few lines on the same subject, but with the determination to do it just a bit better.

Each of us has our own story to tell and a unique way of crafting our words together to create a poem.

No two are ever alike. We all view the world from different angles.

So be yourself. Take a chance and compose your thoughts onto paper.

Word Prompt = Stars

This week the word prompt I've chosen is "Stars."

Stars are objects that twinkle and light up our night sky. They are made up of a luminous gas, usually hydrogen & helium.

Maybe we see a shooting star and make a wish.

Or we believe stars are little glimpses of heaven.

We might remember the nursery rhyme, " Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

Or we feel the stars connect us together since we all look up at the same night sky.

Maybe a person we know shines like a star in our life.

Or glancing up at the stars fills our soul with comfort.

It could be a story about the nearest star to the earth, which reminds me of the sitcom, "3rd Rock From The Sun."

I'm sure we can create a few interesting writes with this word.

So let's pick up our pens and jot down a few notes.

If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night,

I'll bet they'd live alot differently.

Highlights This Week

The word prompt, "Summer" definitely inspired a few good writes.

I am proud of each one of you who contributed your work.

John Hansen combines two word prompts, Lesson & Summer.

For this week, I am focusing on the poetry he wrote for Summer.

In his acrostic poem, "Summer" he tells us to be careful underneath the hot sun.
Not to forget our hat & slap on some sunblock.

In his poem, "Sunburn" he tells us about someone who lays out in the sun hoping to get a tan, but he falls asleep.

When he awakes, he is sunburn. His skin has baked.

He warns us about global warming with fear that if things don't change we will all burn from the heat.

Then he shows us how he goes inside to put moisturizer on his skin. He hopes it helps to minimize the damage, as he remind us countries are only talk about this problem & are not taking action regarding the crisis which lies ahead.

Umesh Chandra Bhatt

Umesh Chandra Bhatt tells us how summer is a sense of joy.

We wait for it in the long cold winters and cool spring.

Although it is hot, it's enjoyed beneath a shade tree and is actually the reason we have life.

In his poem, "Welcome again summer!" he shows us how we wait for the summertime to arrive.

It ends the harsh winter and cool days, bringing the warmth of the sunshine.

It's comforting like when we sit on Mother's lap. It fuels us with magic.

We go outside in the heat we rejuvenate ourselves as we enjoy the clear sky.

We feel like we are a part of it.

Janis Leslie Evans ~ Summer Love

Janis Leslie Evans explains the magic of finding love in the beginning a relationship.

Showing us the connection between two people often resembles the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn & winter.

It's like summer when a relationship heats up and reaches its peak.

In hervpoem "Season of Summer Love", she shows us how love's desire is strong in the beginning as it takes root.

It seems like a bright summer day when we feel the heat of the one we love. It's strong like reaching the top of mountain.

The moments we share seem to last forever, passing our wildest dreams.

Then we feel it slowly slipping away, taking a dip as the season changes.

We hold on tight to promises made but suddenly it's like autumn as the temperature fades.

Our love is lost like the colored leaves dropping from the trees in the fall. We are left with a broken heart.

We feel an emptiness as we long for Spring to return.

Her poetry reminded me of William Shakespeare's poem and then I see she included it in the article.

Love definitely has its ups and downs. The beginning is so hot and it reminds us of the summer season.

When it cycles down it wanes through the other seasons like a maze. Eventually turning brutally cold as we hope for Spring to refuel our love.

My Spanish is a bit rusty, but I still remember a few words.

It's been many years since I've used it or written it.

I agree. You should write more pieces like that one.

Very heartfelt & beautiful.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on September 11, 2021:

Very Good! Thank you so much, dear Bredz. Yes, he said that this piece touches his soul and his heart! And he asked me to write more pieces like that. :) Truly a very sweet comment.

manatita44 from london on September 11, 2021:

Mi cara amiga ...querida amiga, preciosa amiga,

This piece touches mi alma .. mi corazon! escriba mas like that. Not the teaching kind but the raw, real honest pieces. It will touch souls. Everyone has a soul, even Hitler ... Lucifer. Everything comes from Love ... from Allah.

I'm so, so proud of you!! Write more like that, much more. Guru ji continue to bless you from his own Loka. Read more of his work. Read my book. Serve and never be tired of serving. I have done this for 39 conscious years and again, I was also molded this way by mom.

Service widens the Heart, the psychic Heart and will enhance receptivity to Grace. Love, love you, love you. Write more!!

Suyo affectisimo!

P.S God loves everyone! But there's a special place in Its Heart for willing servants ... aspiring seekers. Much Light to you. - Manatita
