Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 26 (Lesson)

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

Word Prompts Help Creativity ~ Week 26 is an article to help inspire our creativity.

I choose a single word prompt encouaging others to write a poem, a short story, a song or any combination.

The only requirement is to relax and have fun writing.

Introduction

There are times when life tosses a wrench in our writing efforts.

We try hard to stay on schedule, but the interruptions are endless. That's when we find ourselves wishing for more hours in the day.

But maybe we should think about these intrusions as a blessing from God. A little gift we didn't realize we needed.

So next time this happens to you, be thankful.

You might even find some fantastic inspiration along the detour.

Inspiration

We all have different ways to inspire our creativity.

Some of us dig deep into our inner souls and write magnificent pieces from our own experiences.

We can feel our own emotions and write about hope, despair, honesty, deceit, happiness or sadness.

We write about anything or anyone that touches our life or our emotions in a unique way.

We write about heartbreak or crime. Or we write about love and desire.

We can find solace in the beauty of nature by simply taking a walk or driving to the countryside.

We feel so many different sensations. Sometimes we are fueled by anger, while other times we sense happiness running through our veins.

I honestly believe writers perceive sentiments deeper than other individuals.

No matter what happens during our life, we take everything to heart.

So this week, pay attention to whatever causes you to have a reaction of any kind, then jot down a few lines.

Word Prompt = Lesson

The word prompt I have chosen this week is "Lesson."

A lesson is something we often learn through study, experience, or observation.

We have been learning from the moment we were born.

From that first gasp of air we breathed into our lungs to our first baby steps.

Life moves forward each day and we gain wisdom.

A student learns in school, but is it an education he learns or life lessons?

Maybe it's a story about helping a child with his school lesson.

It could be a lesson we learned through love or heartbreak.

Or a lesson we were taught from the Bible.

Maybe it's a simple life lesson you learned along your journey, something you want to pass down.

I'm sure the possibilities are endless for this one.

So let's pick up our pens and jot down a few ideas.

I'll be waiting anxiously to read them all.

Highlights This Week

We didn't have as many Writer's this week for the word prompt, but everyone's writing was exceptional.

You won't be disappointed.

Chitrangada Sharan tells us Blue is the color of nature, the sky, the sea, and the ocean.

She shares wonderful pictures with us that she has photographed herself. (Photography is her hobby.)

In her poem, "What does the colour ‘Blue’ signify?" She tells us that the sky and the sea both represent the color blue.

Then she shares many different feelings the color blue gives us, like inspiration, wisdom, imagination, and infinity.

When we see the color blue we sense heaven & peace surrounding us.

It's also the color of uniforms. Light blue represents peace while dark blue represents power.

She tells us blue equals serenity and sacredness and in Hindu mythology it is a symbol of infinity ~ immeasurable just like the Almighty.

In her poem, "The Heavenly Blue— Poem" she shows us how vast and heavenly the color blue truly is in the world.

It's so fascinating as it brings us hope, shares its wisdom, and soothes us with its divine grace as it crosses the whole universe.

Her poetry clearly shows us how the color blue embraces the whole universe connecting us altogether.

I (Brenda Arledge) wrote three poems in response to the color blue.

Vidya D Sagar says I have brought out the element of faith and emotions of love and despair so we'll.

Ravi Rajan says he loves the vibrant shades of blue you have tried to paint here Brenda. From eternal blue to baby blues to heartbreaks the magic of blue is almost everywhere in our lives.

Manatita44 says Sweettt!! As I usually say. A charming and fabulous piece, Brenda.

Heart Touching ~ 9/11 Dedication by Janis Leslie Evans

Janis shows us a detailed account of the day we will never forget ~ 9/11.

She was actually in Washington D.C. working on the day it occurred.

In her poem, ""Blue Sky Tragedy" she tells us it was a beautiful morning. It had an eye opening blue sky.

There was no warning of impending tragedy.

Nothing seems real as the plumes of smoke fill the sky. Everyone waits for another plane & everything seems surreal.

She dedicates this poem to all Americans and global friends who were touched by the tragedy and continue to struggle with painful memories and haunting images of that day.

These memories will linger in everyone's heart.

John Hansen's Whimsical Journey With The Color Blue

John starts his article with a beautiful picture of a blue flower.

The he includes this quHowote:

How sweet to be a Cloud. Floating in the Blue!

— A.A. Milne

He tells us that in Australian slang the color blue is quite popular.

He fills his article with videos & quotes which truly depict the color blue.

You'll love his whimsical poem as he describes so many different things that either are the color blue or refer to it.

There are a few that maybe you haven't heard of like a red-headed woman or a fight being called blue.

Or a blue tongue lizard or a blue-ringed octopus?

He mentions our favorite Australian Blue healer, such a beautiful intelligent dog.

He ponders the question, why do we associate blue with baby boys & pink with baby girls.

Then he also explains a blue card in Australia.

It is quite a delightful poem and bound to make you smile.

That's right, you are a former teacher.

I'm certain you have a few stories about the word lesson.

Maybe it brings back a funny moment in class.

Well, as a former teacher, lesson should come easy to me. Waiting for the inspiration. Perhaps it will come this time. Perhaps not. It is as it should be, I guess. Have a brilliant Wednesday!

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on August 18, 2021:

Hello Brenda!

Excellent article or should I say, word prompt series. I enjoyed reading your thoughts, the quotes, and the new prompt, Lesson.

I have done a poem on this topic earlier, but would try it again.

Thank you for the mention, and detailed analysis of my work, on the word prompt, Blue. The other writers have done a splendid job, and I have enjoyed reading all of them.

Keep writing, keep inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful day.

Rosina S Khan on August 18, 2021:

Thank you for the new word prompt. "Lesson", as you show, can be illuminated in different ways. I am quite sure fellow writers will come up with amazing responses. I look forward to reading them.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Rebels. on August 18, 2021:

Bredz, you have such a lovely soul. You are so sweet! Thank you so much for always motivating us. Your prompts have generated countless writings and poetic pieces from so many wonderful authors. No doubt, you are a source of inspiration to many of us. Last week's prompt responses were all excellent, as always. Lesson is a lovely word.I have just used that word yesterday in my 100th hub. :)

Blessings and Hugs to you

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on August 18, 2021:

There were certainly some good responses to Blue. I was just blank this time, but maybe I can give lesson a try. I wanted to finish the 12th Year anniversary article and the one about anemia, so time was also a factor.

I enjoyed this article along with the videos, Brenda. You have really inspired several Hubpage writers. I appreciate your effort, and I know it is time consuming. Thank you.
