Word Prompts Help Creativity / Week 13

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

"Word Prompts Help Creativity / Week 13 is an article I write each week where I encourage everyone to be creative and write something on a single word prompt.

Write whatever you want. It can be a short story, a poem, a combination of both, a song. You are the one in control.

The only requirement is to have fun while your muse leads the way.

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day is a special day many of us hold dear to our hearts. We all remember those little moments with our moms.

A Mother's love can never be replaced. It lives on in our hearts for all time.

As we go about our day let us be grateful for this love and honor our mothers.

Also remember those who have touched your heart who have no children of their own. They are often the most kind and nuturing people I know.

In my book, you don't need to bear children to be considered a mother.

Happy Mother's Day!

Inspiration

Stop what you are doing and just take a moment to look around. Let your eyes see everything surrounding you in this very moment.

Use the common senses like sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing, and illustrate it for me.

Can you hear something? What can you smell? What do your eyes see? Maybe your fingers feel a soft blanket.

Try to talk from within your heart.

Write it down. Short words for now.

Now that you have a picture in your mind. Go back and rewrite your words. Paint a picture within your words using a vivid description.

Make it clear. I want to see it inside my mind while I sit in my chair reading your work.

Remember, I might be way across the globe, so describe it to me in detail so I can imagine it in my mind.

Word Prompt = Raindrops

This week I have chosen the word prompt, "Raindrops."

It looks like today it's going to rain all day, so I can't seem to get this word off my mind.

Maybe a poem about how raindrops make you feel or how one tiny raindrop becomes a flood.

Maybe you want to hide beneath the covers all day or you are waiting for a storm to pass.

Use your imagination. Have some fun and let me know what your muse decides to write.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass

It's about learning how to dance in the rain.

Highlights This Week

Each week everyone's work amazes me. It's hard to believe the excellent writing that is conjured up from one little word.

This week we had our first short story. It is written by Umesh Bhatt.

This is a love story where two people realize the importance of not putting things of until tomorrow. They embrace the moment today.

The link is below for those who have not read his story yet.

Chitrangada - Today Is The Most Important Day

Chitrangada has written us some wonderful poetry and also graced us with her knack for photography.

She took the photos herself.

Below the first image is a phrase that is absolutely beautiful!

"Flowers have only today, but they make the most of it. They spread smiles and happiness, to everyone around them."

Amazing thought!

She encouages us to make the most of today. To not waste precious time.

To make smaller goals so we can fulfill them today.

She reminds us that Today is a gift.

We shouldn't waste it away. We need to enjoy each moment.

She's included some inspirational quotes.

Vidya - The Beginning is Today

Vidya Sagar reminds us the road to success is difficult but we shouldn't give up. We need to keep trying today.

"Success only favors those who trust their abilities to achieve what they desire."

Her poetry tells us a story of a woman who finds it difficult to pick herself up after being knocked down time & time again.

She shows great strength and courage learning the beauty of life is to put herself first.

She decides to face today waking up with a smile. She begins to heal.

Nothing can limit her & she will find her dreams.

If it's too hard today, she'll try again tomorrow.

She learns to let others go & stop chasing them. She puts her own dreams first.

She learns to appreciate herself & be happy.

Making today a very great day!

This part of her poem touches me:

"She was the master of her thoughts

She was the architect of her life."

She has an awesome song at the end and her piece includes some very special quotes.

"The beginning is always today” by Catherine Pulsifer.

Thanks Brenda for appreciating my work. I am so honored. This week's word prompt is beautiful. It conjures images of romance and cozy evenings chilling out and enjoying the rain. At the same time there is the fear that the raindrops may turn to floods. When all we can do is wait for the storm to pass. Thanks for inspiring us with such wonderful prompts.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on May 09, 2021:

It is hard to believe that 13 weeks have already gone by and I am hooked on your word prompts. This will be an interesting result, as they all are really. I never think I am going to write something, then I do. Thanks, Brenda! Happy Mother's Day!
