Word Prompts Help Creativity / Week 10

I am a writer. My passion is poetry. I feel words connect people together and help us to understand the feelings we share.

Article Summary

Word Prompts Help Creativity / Week 10 is an article I write weekly.

I randomly pick one word we can use to write a poem or short story.

Hopefully it gives us a break from our normal routines & lets those creative juices flow. Who knows, maybe our next best seller.

The ultimate goal is to simply write & have fun.

He makes a few interesting points.

"You Can't Help Someone Who Doesn't Help Himself"

This week I've been reminded of the saying,

"You cannot help someone who doesn't help himself."

I'm not talking about the normal person who is dealing with everyday struggles. We all need help now & then.

I'm thinking about the ones who refuse to hold a job. The ones who think they deserve life on a silver platter without lifting a finger to help themselves.

Their attitudes are downright rude & disrespectful.

They don't think twice about calling you each time they need help.

If for some reason you can't help them, then suddenly everything is all your fault.

They just take, take, take...with no ounce of gratitude. They never truly appreciate your efforts.

These type of people need to stand on their own two feet. We are not helping them by catering to their every need.

Okay, sorry about the ramble. I just get fed up sometimes. I'm human.

Some Days Inspiration Is Not Enough

There is inspiration all around us, but there are days when no matter how inspired I am by everything, I just can't write.

My focus is not completely there.

I begin to write, but my mind wanders. Alas, this happens alot. I think my thoughts can travel at the speed of lightning on some days.

But what I'm talking about are those moments when I only get a few bits here and there. One or two lines of a poem, then the next few lines fit a totally different poem. My thoughts are not on the same wavelength.

This is when I know it's time to hang it up for awhile. Go take a walk. Breathe in fresh air. Work on a long overdue project around the house.

Put everything aside for awhile.

When I return, I am amazed how the words flow.

Word Prompt = Life

This week I have chosen a very broad word that can go in alot of different directions.

The word is "Life."

This could be about life in general or the day your life began at birth, or it could take a turn towards the Big Bang Theory.

I will leave it to your muse to decide.

So start tapping away on those screens or pick up a pen.

I'm anxiously awaiting to read everyone's masterpiece.

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.

— John Lennon

Highlights This Week

I have no words. Everyone's work astonished me this week.

Each one of you had your own special muse.

I am very impressed and from viewing the comments our Hubbers are too!

Manatita writes that "Each individual has opinions of his own, but when friendship becomes the connecting link between two persons, all conflicts are removed and they become one."

In his poetry he says we all merge as one under the blue moon and stars and "Friendship" is like the beauty of heaven where the angels sing.

I hope you all take a moment to read his work. The link is below.

Another Hubber, Ann Carr, has written us a piece on Friendship that deserves reading. It shows us that friendship can sometimes come from Nature as well as that cuddly teddy bear.

She also mentions sibling friendships and the importance of the ultimate symbol of friendship, The Wedding Ring.

It is worth the time to read. The link is below.

Misbah's Writing is Outstanding!

Misbah has done an outstanding job on her article.

She provides us with a clear definition of friendship.

"Friendship is an emotional relationship that occurs between two or more people, in which an affinity occurs and through which individuals share values, beliefs, and special moments.

There must be loyalty, commitment, support, and sincerity."

She speaks about the love of our life and how we should turn our focus onto that friendship for it has endured through the years.

We disagree, we shed tears, we have disputes, but yet life brings us back together.

She reminds us: "You know if one day you lose this person, you will never get over it."

She refers to friendship like being wrapped up in a cocoon, which is perfect for it's indeed a place where one feels safe and snuggly.

We flourish like a butterfly learning to be a good person, but in order for this friendship to survive we need to nurture it.

If you tend to it well you will see it blossom.

We cross many people in life, but true friendships stand the test of time.

I often wonder if others know how one act of kindness might be someone's life line.

In her poems she talks about the virtual friendship she has made on Hubpages. She has even written a friendly tribute to a few.

She shows us the importance of this friendship which we can feel across the borders. It often feels like the person is right in front of you.

This is a terrific piece of writing which I encourage you all to read. I am providing the link below.

Vidya Puts a Different Spin on Friendship

Vidya's writing takes a different spin on friendship showing us that we must be our own best friend.

We need to be honest and work on ourselves everyday to improve and bring out our best qualities.

"Be your own biggest fan and then you will become your own best friend’.

She says we must learn to control our thoughts.

"Stability is being calm and same in all circumstances. Too much attachment to material objects or sense objects lead to restlessness of the mind."

As for me, I often find it hard to remain calm in all circumstances, but this is great advice.

Her poem reminds us to be our own best friend. That no matter what life throws at you, turn it into a wonderful opportunity.

The quotes and the video of a song by Katy Perry are terrific.

I am putting the link below so everyone can take a moment to read.

Harriet,

This poem is so heartfelt.

It is so sad when we realize people we thought were our friends are really fake or pretend ones.

I been there.

I'm glad you are grasping being alone & I pray that God walks with you.

I know he will...he has taken me through many trials in my life.

It's so hard to stop thinking about others and putting them first when that is the person you are..but you will make it.

I'm with you...let's try to make each day count without complaining too much.

To be grateful for esch moment we have rather the sun is hot or it is raining.

Let's start living life each day & giving back a little too.

Reflect on our life, be grateful and live it to our best.

Wonderful writing!!

BRENDA ARLEDGE (author) from Washington Court House on April 21, 2021:

Vidya,

Thank you.

I have placed a link in the word prompt article.

I like how you say,

"We need to invest in ourselves with our own vision of who we are and who we want to be to find true happiness and a balanced state of being"

That no one knows how much time he has left. We need to be grateful.

Your story about Alexander & Diogenes points out that living a simple life is most rewarding.

We cannot find happiness by attching ourselves to possessions of the world.

We should live our lives fully by being an honest person who shows empathy towards others.

You poem is so full of inspiration.

Saying life is a beautiful journey & we should live it like there's no tomorrow.

To give more than you take. To be the change by being different.

To be like a tree strong in adversity.

Starting each new day being grateful & thanking God.

This is a wonderful reminder for us to live our lives to the best of our ability and even though the road maybe bumpy...if we are true to ourselves & grateful...our journey will be well.

Thanks for this wonderful piece of writing.

The comments are right...I do love it.

John,

Your muse certainly woke up & took you on a journey for this one.

It is absolutely amazing!

Your words describe the feelings of on an innocent man behind bars for life for a crime he didn't commit.

I didn't see this one coming from your muse, but I'm sure glad it did.

You show us inspiration can come from many forms with this poetic work "inspired by Henry Lawson, The Song of a Prison 1909)."

Excellent work.

I hope your muse stays around for awhile.

I will post a link in the article.

Misbah

I totally agree. John's work is superb.

I love how he describes the actions of a friend.

Ine who has moral standards, who accepts you how you are.

He won't sugarcoat things just to please you & he won't run away like fair weather friends when the going gets tough.

Thanks a lot for mentioning me, Brenda. I am glad you liked it. I have read almost everyone’s work and all of them were outstanding. John’s work was superb, No Fairweather Friends Allowed. I loved the way he highlighted the difference between true and fake friends. Right now, I am working on a draft regarding fake people. His poem inspired me a lot.

Life is a very beautiful prompt. I believe everyone will describe it in a very different way. I appreciate your kind efforts.

Thanks for another wonderful challenge

Thank you.

No worries about the link, I understand.

Thanks for another good prompt. 'Life' is certainly an open theme! Thank you also for including a link to my work; it's really kind of you. I included a link to you in my last one on friendship, but when they moved it they wanted me to take out the link - I've no idea why as I did the same with the previous one and they didn't ask me to do that then. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. BTW, is there a trick to keeping hubs in the feed? Is it just an occasional comment from ourselves, to keep it going? I've noticed you and several others do that from time to time.
