Wings: A Poem
If I had wings,
I'd flly over the mountains I can't climb,
If I was a bird,
I'd soar over stormy seas and feel sublime,
If I could fly,
I'd know that no distance is too far,
If I had wings,
I'd stop and land right where you are.

Sweet little poem and beautiful images.

pochinuk: Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I wrote this earlier this evening. I'm not sure how it came to me, but I'm trying to write a poem a day. If I miss a day, then I try to catch up when I have time. I am determined to write 365 poems this year. I was attempting to think of something to write about and I thought of flying (I'm sure I was drinking coffee around that time). Thank you for reading!

Erin,
"...wings..." "...bird..." "...fly..."
I was having strong selfsame thinkings:
Not sure when you wrote this, but yesterday I went out to sit on a pail under a lean-to on our barn ( a usual spot to gaze at this lovely Winter Wonderland in Northern MI).
Again, as usual, I forgot my I Pod; and ran to get it, because that moment of "thought" came upon me. "Oh that I had wings like a dove, to fly away and be at rest." (not my words).
I was staring at our lovely Hemlock tree, and as only a silly poet would do, trudged almost knee deep to get some photography to go with the verse that I was attempting to type on the mobile yellow pad (a.k.a. Notes).
Tell me how these words came to you...was it of athletic feat? or in quiet contemplation with a hot beverage? or by candlelight? or anything?
I would be interested in knowing.
