Was right in my backyard

Author:
was-right-in-my-backyard

I searched for years
For something..somebody
Somewhere...sometime
Never finding solace
Peace for this soul of mine

I crossed near every ocean
And walked through lands so hard
To find what I'd been missing
Was right in my backyard

She had always been there
Wishing on the stars
To find the one
Who'll calm her soul
And pour love into her heart

I think that some people (me included ) feel that love could never be right around the corner so we go in search of it in far distant places, when many times it has always been there at home !!

A beautiful poem so simply yet full of a thousand words that could never possibly reach the depth of the truth of such things. Sometimes it is in the darkness of your uncertainty you tend to look over what matters the most to you and it seems that love was that something.

Though I too have felt like I have felt the love of a soulmate; it is not what is close that I missed but what is so far that has reached me even through written word and has touched me in deeper places than I could ever have imagined.

Voted up.

How beautiful and echoes my situation so well. After years of turbulant relationships my best friends brother had always been there to fix my car, rush to the airport to bring my forgotten passport, do my shopping, lend a shoulder to cry on help me in so many ways until I realised what an amazing guy he was. I am happy to report we are still together and now have two gorgeous children too. :))

This is a beautiful poem and so true. We spend our time searching and often miss what is right in front of us (or in our backyard!) Thank for sharing this! Up+

The poem is beautiful and I love the photo - so charming! Isn't that the truth - sometimes happiness is found in our own backyard. As Dorothy said in the "Wizard of Oz" - 'there's no place like home.'

Wayne Barrett from Clearwater Florida on March 30, 2013:

Very beautiful, Simba. I too crossed oceans and for years dreamed of what I came to believe was only a fairy tale...But as it turned out, and yes it was practically in my back yard, I found my soul-mate. And in so doing...we both found peace!

Jon (author) from UK on March 30, 2013:
