Walking through A road of life - a poem

The road called life

On the road called life, as I walk through,
Filled with flowers of many a hue,
Thorns and thistles and shrubbery too,
Filling my path, with surprises new!

Long is the road, well lit sometimes,
When a friend comes in like a beacon of light,
Darkness shrouds it, as the night falls,
With troubles and thorns, playing their part!

         The purpose Driven life

An inspiring word would be all we need,
A simple smile, will happiness breed,
An extended hand, a helping gesture,
Would make this world, infinitely better!

But sullen faces are all I see,
Divisions of races, clans and spaces,
Each fighting the other,
Like brother against brother.

Is love so hard a thing to share?
Is it rare to find it here?
Give it and it shall return to you,
Doubled, multifold is all I knew!

I acquainted a thorn, on the way,
It pierced my feet and drew out blood,
My feet hurt not, but my heart,
That is still, the bleeding part.

May be you are a thorn, but I see your need,
You could be the fence that protects the seeds,
The fierce warning to the predator,

The marauder, of the blooms!

All have a purpose, in this life,
Thorns and thistles, all alike,
Hide the thorns with loving care,
And the roses will have a showing fair!

I offered my hand of help to you,
You tripped me down and walked over me,
But I shall not remain there for long, you see,
I rise up again, to be the person I can be!

Bitterness will never fill my soul,
For I will see, the roses alone,
I will fill my heart with songs of love,
And give them to those who will allow!!

My path is beautiful, for my thoughts are clear,
My soul is like water, still and pure,
Your stones may cause the ripples to form,
But after a while I shall remain calm!!

The peace of God within me rests,
Takes me through, my every test,
Fills my every moment with joy,
May be you need it more my friend.

Precious to me, will you always remain,
For God has brought you in my road again,
No matter what, I shall remain your friend,
Since the day it all begun.

Life goes on, my path winds and turns,
I will, I meet those who spit and spurn,
Nothing shall stop me from spreading this love,
For love, joy and peace comes from above!!

Every word on your poem reflects your kindness and loving nature. It is hard to continue loving others when they hurt you, but you do it with great compassion. Never change that part of you sofs. up!!

WE, when I wrote this I was hurting badly, though I know how to hold my horses. Since then much water has flowed. Love never fails, love is patient and kind. Each experience is a process of growth and refinement. Well of course there are moments when you want to run away from pain, especially the pain of rejection... but you never learn from it, you just become bitter. I have learned and so has my friend, we have grown. But writing this helped me greatly at that point of time.

Thank you, WE I appreciate the fact that you recognized me for what I am, though am not without flaws.

Your loving and caring nature was always obvious to me since I first laid eyes on you. I saw immediately that you represent something unique on HubPages. Your good heart and spirit are so evident.

If you have been trampled upon or let down, that saddens me to hear; even though you may have recovered well, it does one no good to be disappointed. Still, let us believe in a natural selection process, that new liasons can be created to replace the broken ones, and the new ones turn out to be good and real.

Absolutely marvelous poem, very deep and refined. I am impressed. W.E.

Thank you Peggy, sometimes you do have to walk through thorns and thistles, but your faith and your values keep you going. This was written at a time of trial... my faith has seen me through as it always does. Love you Peggy. Thanks for all the promotion that you are doing for me. May God bless you abundantly!

Yes Tim, I am learning, that the offer of compassion is not always acceptable to all, sometimes you also become the object of ire..

But nothing or no one you can deter you from doing the good work that you purpose to do...I am learning one lesson so forcefully that I need not ever be limited by my circumstances.

Tim, the understanding in your words, I am sure will help me march forward in this life that I have chosen for myself.

Tim Nichol from Me to You on November 05, 2010:

Aww..sofs. Such heartfelt words. It's sad that some people aren't always willing to accept the hand of compassion that you offer. Well, at least you can be at peace, knowing your heart is in the right place. Well done.
