What Are The Two Most Important Bible Lessons?
Many people hold the Bible in high esteem, yet fail to recognize the two most important lessons found in the Bible. Whether or not you believe the Bible, these two lessons can have such a great impact on your life that they should not be ignored.
One will help you in all of your relationships, and the other will help you achieve more than you ever dreamed possible. They are simple lessons and perhaps that is why many people tend to miss them or ignore them altogether.
Whatever your opinion of the contents of the Bible, it is a book that contains many sentiments that are also found in other important religious texts. Most likely, these two lessons can also be learned from whatever scripture you hold dear.
The First And Most Important Lesson Of The Bible
In a very small sentence in the New Testament, one of the most important questions about God is answered. Whether or not you believe in God is irrelevant when it comes to considering this question. It tells us what, or who God is, and can be looked at from many angles.
One way to look at it is to consider that conceptually, God is the highest form of being. Therefore this one sentence tells us what is most important in the entire universe. If we look at it from the Biblical point of view, it describes the one thing that reigns supreme over everything else.
The sentence says, simply, “God is Love.” In the English language, when you have the verb “is” you can turn the sentence around and it will mean the same thing. The verb “is” could be considered the same thing as an equal sign in a mathematical equation. If I say 2+4=6, I can also say 6=2+4, and they will both be correct.
So the first lesson from the Bible that should never be ignored is that God is Love, and therefore, Love is God. In other words, the most important thing in this world, the one thing that humanity needs most is Love.
This applies to every single relationship you will have in life, including your relationship with yourself. The Bible also says that we should love others as we love ourselves. Therefore if you do not love yourself, you will have trouble loving others. Being unloving to yourself and unloving to others is the same as being ungodly.
If every person were taught that Love is the most important thing in the world, and that we should demonstrate love on some level in every interaction in life, the world would be a much better place.
The Second Most Important Lesson From The Bible
There is one other lesson in the Bible that should never be ignored. It is also a very simple lesson, found in the New Testament. If you learn this lesson, you will have great success in all aspects of your life. This should be very important to every person who says they believe in God or in the Bible, because for believers, it should be important to honor God with your life.
This lesson was taught by Jesus himself, and whether or not you believe in Jesus or the Bible, this lesson is important. It is, simply, “Ask, Seek, and Knock.” This can be applied to any and every endeavor you attempt.
If you want something, start by asking. The world is full of every kind of wonderful thing you can imagine. Things we have in this day and age were only thoughts in someone’s imagination years ago. The world is also full of people and experiences of every kind imaginable. So whatever it is that you fancy or imagine or desire, refer first to rule number one, of course, then simply start asking. A small child knows this rule well. They don’t just ask, they demand. Be like a child, and don’t give up.
Once you’ve started asking, the next thing is to start seeking. The world is simply chock full of opportunities. If you do not see that, you are missing out terribly. If the world is not full of opportunities, how is it that so many other people seem to have the thing that you desire? Get your heart set on the thing you are asking for and start looking for it in the right way. Look for it as if it were the most valuable gemstone on the planet and you’d somehow misplaced it in your house. If that had happened, you would turn over every single piece of furniture, peer into every crevice, and not stop until you had found what you were looking for.
Once you’ve asked and started seeking, you also need to start knocking. Try every single door. Do the work that it will take. This requires some physical action and the ability to persevere. That means that in spite of the fact that you might not get the answer or result you want at first, you keep trying. Too many people give up hope at the first sign of difficulty. Not everything in life will be easy.
This is especially important to remember in an age when things happen instantly online. The rise of technology has given many people a sense of impatience that is not reasonable. Sometimes we just have to keep on trying and working for things, rather than expecting overnight success.
The Two Most Important Lessons From The Bible
However you view it, the Bible is a very interesting book, and there are things that can be learned from it. The two most important things are that Love is the most important thing in human life, and that anything we want is already available to us. It is up to us to ask, seek, and knock.
So love yourself, love everyone else, and start living the kind of life you’ve dreamed of. If you’ve imagined playing the piano, start chasing that dream. If you want to live in a better place, get busy and make it happen. If you desire a loving relationship, do the work needed to achieve that. If you’re tired of poverty, start thinking more abundantly.
Whatever good thing you are after, go after it wholeheartedly and with a positive mindset. When you encounter obstacles, don’t let that stop you. It may take some time, but you will find that if you learn these two lessons, your life will dramatically improve.
If you’ve had some experience learning these principles, or want to know more, please share that in the comments.
