Poetry is a great way to communicate your feelings to someone, especially to a girl. Learning how to read a poem out loud to a girl can be somewhat intimidating.
My friend, you have found the right place to find out how to succeed in your endeavor. I will give you sixteen tips on how to successfully read a poem to a girl.
Pick a Poem From a Book
Tip # 1: Pick a poem.
The first step is picking a poem. Find simple love poetry. You don't want to pick something too complicated. You might choose from a collection of poets that you are familiar with.
Maybe you have decided to write one yourself. Very nice! For some, writing a poem can come easily. Whichever you decide to use, one you've written or a selected poem, you have made the first step.
Practice Reading
Tip # 2: Practice reading the poem to yourself.
It is important to get the flow of the words Make sure you know how to pronounce the words. You want to the reading to go as smoothly as possible. Remember to pause at the right places, such as commas, semi-colons, and periods.
Tip # 3: Picture the meaning of the poem.
Picture the meaning of the poem. Think about the meaning. Imagine the scene of the poem. Think about how the poem fits together. Feel the rhythm, the flow of the poem. Imagine what the images the poem might mean.
Picture the Effect You Want To Have
Tip # 4: Picture the effect of the poem.
Picture the effect of the poem. Imagine the impression you would like to have on the girl. You want her to understand that you may have romantic feelings toward her.
Tip # 5: Practice reading the poem out loud.
Practice reading the poem out loud. Listen to how your voice sounds. Some people have a hard time listening to their own voice.
Get comfortable with hearing your voice. Get used to it.
Read the Poem in Front of a Mirror
Tip # 6: Practice reading the poem in front of mirror.
Practice reading the poem in front of mirror. You need to show confidence in your reading. Sit on a chair or on the edge of your bed. Remember to look up from time to time.
Example Poem: My Love is in a Light Attire
Tip # 7: Practice reading the poem by recording it.
Practice reading the poem by recording it. Listen to your voice. It takes a while to get used to listening to a recording of your voice. Get comfortable hearing your voice on tape. It will improve your chances of success.
Tip # 8: Practice reading the poem to another female that you trust.
Practice reading the poem to another female that you trust. Get a girl's feedback. Maybe choose your sister, aunt, cousin or even you mother. You can try a girl that's a friend, but it might get rough here. If it's a girl that likes you, she might be hurt or get jealous. Maybe jealous enough to sabotage the reading (remember: "All's fair in love and war!"). Choose the right female!
Tip # 9: Pick a place to read the poem.
Pick a place to read the poem. Find the right place. Will it be her place or your place? Where will you read to her? Will it be inside or outside? It should be away from others, like a park or backyard. It should be a place you both will be comfortable. (Her bedroom might not be the best place!)
Choose a place wisely for the best chance to succeed at reading your poem
Pick a Place
Tip # 10: Prepare yourself to read the poem.
Prepare yourself to read a poem. Wear clothes appropriate for the situation. Groom yourself nicely. Get a haircut if you have time. Try some deodorant after the shower! Remember the teeth.
Tip # 11: Place yourself to read the poem.
Place yourself to read a poem. Sit close but not too close. For effect, try to keep eye contact by looking up at her during the some of the pauses. But not too long; you don't want to lose the flow or you place in the poem. Make sure you are both comfortable to improve your chances of success.
Tip # 12: Please her as you read the poem.
Please her as you read the poem. Make sure you are thinking of her, not yourself. Isn't she the one that you are reading the poem to and for? It's about her, not how well you can read a poem now.
You don't want to overdo it, but you might want to take flowers or candy. If it hasn't gotten to that stage in the relationship you might want to wait. All girls enjoy gifts, however, the purpose of this exercise to read her the poem.
Please Her With Your Reading
Tip # 13: Prepare for rejection as you read the poem.
Prepare for rejection as you read the poem. Look guys, no matter how you prepare and practice, she still may not like. She won't be the first girl that's rejected you in your life of romance. She won't be the last, either.
Tip # 14: Prepare for acceptance as you read the poem.
Prepare for acceptance as you read the poem. If for some reason she likes the poem, likes the way you've read it, likes you, she might accept the reading. Then you have to prepare for what might come next.

Laurinzoscott thanks for reading. Appreciate the comments. I did take some thought and time to write this article. I think romance is an art not a science and should be practiced regularly to perfect the results.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Yes, I agree there will be varying results. Not all, male or female are romantic or respond to romance. Romantic love is for lovers! Thanks again! :)

I started this one tongue-in-cheek but it grew into a real thing. Hope someone does use these steps (at least a variation of them) and wish they'd report back! Thanks again for reading and commenting.

Aw, this is a sweet Hub. Kudos to any man who goes to all the trouble, and displays the courage, described in this Hub.
My now-husband, then-boyfriend read a poem to me on the morning he picked me up at my house to go propose to me. Place: front steps of my house. Poem: "Come, Corinna, Come, Let's Go A-Maying." And yes, he was dressed up. After an experience like that, how could I not read this Hub?
Trust me, guys, it works. The main thing is that, if you follow all the steps above, you will be putting yourself on the line, not ashamed to show the gal that you are interested in her. Also, you are showing by your careful preparation and thoughts for her that you are not arrogant either. If she's even a little bit interested in you, this should set you way ahead.
