Three Wishes From A Genie What I Would Wish

This was one of the most complicated articles to write about , one has so many different wishes but narrowing it down to three was time consuming. Standing in the kitchen when cooking supper I began to jot down my wishes, the list became lengthy asking myself, " If I could have three wishes from a genie, what would I wish?" The first thing that came to mind was money one could not have enough of that, " I said to myself. Next came a shopping spree, "Oh how I would love to go on one of those but how much could a person actually spend?" I began to calculate using plus and minuses watch my money disappear before my eyes. I continued on with writing down wishes somewhere common such as a new car, or a new haircut, others were trying to save the world which was highly impossible but finally I was able to narrow down my list to the three wishes that I would wish if there was a genie in a bottle who could or would grant them to me.

Wish Number Three

Wish number three came after I put my selfish outlook aside and placed my thoughts into perspective. If I could assist at least ten thousand people which would not even be a third of the population with saving there homes, you know pay them off free and clear titles ,pay all of there property taxes for at least 10 years, provide them with enough money to survive the recession, seeing them smile not feeling stressed that would be my third wish.

Wish Number Two

Wish number two was even more complicated then wish number three but seemingly since it was a wish I could use it. Wish number two was to take away all of the cancer/cancers and diseases that plague so many people in the World today. I wish that people would not suffer pain or illnesses. I realize of course many of us in the medical field would not have jobs, or maybe we would they would be simpler tasks like stitches, or nausea when someone ends up with food poisoning. Not IVs , feeding tubes or catheters. I would wish to end all sickness don't you to believe that life would be less worrisome if these things disappeared? I certainly do.

My Last Wish

Knowing that my genie had worked hard to provide me money to help save people who are being evicted from there homes, feeding them , clothing them and making them comfortable. He also wiped away illness so others would not suffer pain or even early death. My final wish was eliminating hate, forgiving each other , accepting people for who they were , working together as a World to make this a better place, coming together not dividing or fighting with one another. As my genie granted my final wish I asked myself, " Is all of this possible?" My genie who ended up being none other then God himself said, " Yes my child there is, when there is a will there is a way and it is up to all of us to work together and find it."

Could I save ten thousand people? I certainly could with determination, perseverance and belief that I can do whatever I chose to do if I set my mind to it.

Can our World be cured of Cancers and other diseases? One day that is why Scientists, Doctors, Nurses, everyday people are constantly testing things everyday so that more lives can be saved we are certainly trying to make it a better place.

Will the World ever come together? I believe it can if all of us can set our indifference's aside not allow our anger to interfere with our thoughts and work together anything is possible if we just set our mind to it.

touched, you found pleasure in helping people. and you assumed that genie can do this marvels and this great ability, so why just ten thousand people? I wounder? but this reflect the goodness of you.

the article is fantastic thank you.

anon on January 13, 2013:

why not just wish for happiness? if you make sure to ask for the good kind, which is geniune and everlasting, there should be enough for everyone. I'd like a small bottle that would have enough for me to give to every person I meet, but instead I just give out origami lol.

You don't have to take that AE. Besides everyone knows you can't wish for more wishes...and they are calling other people stupid.

I am not as noble perhaps. I would wish to be a Genie, then I would free the Genie that made me one, then I would wish for you to find my bottle and get your three wishes. How about that...LOL. Keep on Hubbing. Blake4d

if there was no cancer ther would be another illness just as bad, if there was no hate there would be no emotion, if there was no pain how would you know if you you hurt someone. you cant learn anything if we all feel the same if you got rid of religion you might find a lot of problems would be solved, life has to be challenging otherwise it becomes boring. wish for happiness love and diversity

Hi AEvans. This is a very thoughtful hub. My favorite is the last wish. Grow tolerance and compassion. It seems these wishes are possible slowly growing but getting there.

I too wish that there is no such thing as cancer and that people don't suffer from pain.

Thanks for the good read. :)

great wishes you have. On of mine would be to travel back in time once, 2nd wish is to travel ahead in time but w/ the futures knowledge. And like you, within these wishes to truly help with natural cures for today's large diseases.

Dennizee: I thank you so much for the compliment I believe that heart of mine also gets me into trouble, but I manage to get through it, lolo. It is so wonderful that you are an advocate for single mothers believe me every woman needs a break from their child/children, if they say they don't I would be surprised.:)

Denizee on January 24, 2010:

Your loving heart shines through in this write. It would be such a blessing if those with the will and determination could have the monetary amounts needed to put towards good will. Single parenting has given me a great deal of will towards advocating for single mothers who really need a break to re-establish themselves and allow their families to thrive.

I enjoy reading all of your Hubs.

Laurel Rogers from Bishop, Ca on January 24, 2010:

Really beautiful hub. It makes me think what is possible. You picked three amazing things and like you say, they are doable in a lifetime. Thanks for the idea as I am going to sit here and reflect on my own three over a cup of coffee and a donut hole! (okay, maybe not the donut hole.)

Very nice wishes. So many hard choices to make.I think if I had a wish it would be to eliminate experiencing the feeling of pain from the world. If you could live life without pain you could try so many things that would make your life so happy and so many others too.I think we are not made to suffer pain. Some how we get so mixed up in life and forget all the great wonderful lives we all live and all the great wonderful things we have done.

dohn121 from Hudson Valley, New York on January 24, 2010:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on what you would wish for if you had such wishes at your disposal (as many of us "wish" the same, no doubt). What we wish for certainly is a reflection of who we are and YOU are a benevolent person, J (but of course we all know that already).

I think that one of mine would have to do with having a superpower :D Another awesome hub, J. Thank you.

Hi Aevans...this has been a wake up call to many of us when we think of wishes. Like you have pointed out the first thing that comes to mind is me, me me.

We are truly blessed here in so many ways compared to others. I love the way you have taken the focus off the me and placed it on others.

Thank you for this Hub as it reminds us of the needs of others...

Tammy Lochmann on January 23, 2010:

Nurses always tend to think of others needs first. If you start with one people generally pay it forward. A lot of successes in life started with a helping hand.

I love your hub. Tammy

That was a wonderful and thoughtful hub. Thank you. I we only could have gene.

Barbara from Stepping past clutter on January 23, 2010:

Your wishes are unselfish, AEvans. They are founded in a desire to fix things. I was thinking as I read them, how glad I am that God gave us free will.

Julianna (author) from SomeWhere Out There on January 23, 2010:

Petra: There you are and I am so glad that you enjoyed my wishes and understood them, it was a complicated one when we tend to sometimes think of ourselves before anyone else, but my heart again did not allow me to do it. :)

Petra Vlah from Los Angeles on January 23, 2010:

This is a beautiful hub and a reminder for all of us that wishes could come through with some work and understanding.

Your last wish, in my opinion, would take care and solve of all the others should it come true.

Should we be able to put aside selfishness, greed, intolerance and the rest of human limitations, this may even happen, but my hopes are slim and I will not blame the genie for being unable to fulfill such a great wish.

Your genie (God Himself as you clarified) gave us all we need; choice. The fact that we are making the wrong choices speaks for our limitations and not for His less than perfect creation.
