Thoughts Along The Way

You sit there and think and think some more

Life is like a revolving door

You inquire on how much more can you endure

But persistent is the mind that continues to walk through the door

You go to work you pay the bills

Time never waits

You have to do this and this

Everything is such a hassle or a debate

Take a second to breath and to think

Am I happy with the way I live

I only get one chance to live this life

So I shall live it as if my last days are near

Thank you for allowing us to stop and think awhile !

torrilynn: I feel you. Guess, we should slow down a bit and try to smell the flowers. They're blooming these days at their best anyway. Cheers to life!

You speak truth, torrilynn, to which most can relate. I can use this poetic advice myself, always running. A nice meditation and how we need to get our priorities straight and live like there's no tomorrow. Voted up and useful.

Jo Alexis-Hagues from Lincolnshire, U.K on June 25, 2014:

Beautiful poetry. We often get so caught-up in doing what we feel we need to do for a better life, we forget how to live, and soon it's just too late. I love the message.

Frank Atanacio from Shelton on June 24, 2014:

tori, I enjoyed ur thoughts along the way :)

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on June 24, 2014:

We should always live our life as if our last days are upon us because it could be the truth. None of us knows when our time is up. All we can do is to make the best of each day and the time that we are given.

torrilynn (author) on June 23, 2014:

@Torrs13 I thank you for commenting on my hub and I believe that we move at such a fast pace that we don't even sit down to enjoy what we have and enjoy the company of the people that love us.

Tori Canonge from North Carolina on June 22, 2014:

Beautifully written. I think a lot of times we get caught up in our every day lives and we forget to take a look at the little things around us. It's important that we take notice of even the smallest blessings and opportunities in our lives so that we don't take anything for granted and we don't miss a chance to do something great. Our culture teaches us that work is the most important thing because we have to have money to survive. Although this is true, we also need to have a life that we enjoy and that inspires us to do great things.

Hi Torrilyn , thanks for your short sweet poem :)

Have a bless weekend

Ebonny from UK on June 21, 2014:

Your short poem promotes a far reaching and wise sentiment in that we should not take things for granted and simply coast along as if we have all the time in the world. Life is short.

Nell Rose from England on June 20, 2014:

Wonderful poem torrilynn, and yes we should all take time out and just sit and think, and maybe get a good perspective on life, wonderful!

Jamie Lee Hamann from Reno NV on June 20, 2014:

Inspiring poetry, thank you for sharing. Jamie

d.william from Somewhere in the south on June 20, 2014:

Great poem, great sentiment. How wonderful life would be in we could all view our lives as if it would end tomorrow. We should learn to enjoy our life and be thankful for each day we have on this planet instead of worrying about what someone else does with theirs.

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on June 20, 2014:

Beautifully expressed, wise words.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on June 19, 2014:

Lovely thoughts and very true. Few people actually live like they are running out of time. They think that time is infinite....until they find out the hard way. I live by your philosophy and I love life.

Dora Weithers from The Caribbean on June 19, 2014:

Torrilyn, the thoughts never end, but we have to take a time out, as you suggested, to breathe. I can identify with the sentiments in your beautiful lines.
