desolate spill

of heart’s wired affect

brooding in pools of wine

i gather up each bit carefully

view it

from every possible angle

trying to capture its viscosity

knowing that

like our love

it loses shape and color

when set adrift too long

Audrey, this is great, and that picture goes with so well, it could have inspired the poem. That word, "viscosity" in a poem is a feat too.

Yes, I agree. Powerful metaphor...when damage is done to a relationship and left alone too long, it becomes hard to repair if not attended to quickly. Thanks for sharing, Audrey.

Clark Cook from Vancouver ara, British Columbia, Canada on April 09, 2013:

Wonderful analogy for little experiences ballooning into a sense of one's love. You just nail it, poem after poem. Thank you for writing this wonderful stuff.

Marvin Parke from Jamaica on April 09, 2013:

An appropriate picture which captures a frame of the poem.

Valleypoet on April 09, 2013:

How true...love, like wine, has such a low viscosity...we must be careful not to let go of it...loved this Audrey, great imagery and so poignant:-))

drbj and sherry from south Florida on April 09, 2013:

Powerful metaphoric poem, Audrey, and outstanding creative photo.

Audrey Howitt (author) from California on April 09, 2013:

No worries--and thank you for reading it--just random thought really--hubby and I both work really hard --and long hours but we are very happy!

Nellieanna Hay from TEXAS on April 09, 2013:

Hm-m-m-m. Intriguing. Need to let it 'soak in'. That's ok. It's very personal and shouldn't be too readily available! I'd wisely withhold any comment on what it might seem to be. . . Besides, it would be rude, - not that I'm above it, but only if more certain than I now am! But isn't mystery fun?

Audrey Howitt (author) from California on April 09, 2013:
