The Spirit of Love at Christmas. Monday's Inspiration 23. To Dora Isaac Weithers

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

“Glory to God in the Highest and on earth, peace, good will to all men.”-Luke 2: 14

Baby in a Manger

The Spirit of Christmas is ever present, riding with Santa on his sleigh, with a choreography of reindeers, gliding past the indigo moon. The Christmas corals and choral of various traditions, imbue a benevolent spirit, a strong and surging energy, in the Heart of man.

I walk past the gift shops, the card shops, the City Centres and they are all crowded. One could easily blame modern consumerism; a turning away from Christ to things mundane, only that people seem tolerant, joyful, and generally happier at this time.

So I speak of the Spirit of Christmas; the energy… never mind that some do not believe in this; never mind that the Spirit of the Saviour can seem absent to others, but people, nevertheless, seem to need the present moment, to celebrate their lives.

So we move forward to good will; to peace on Earth amongst men, women; all sentient and non-sentient beings and we rejoice. How beautiful! Praise God! Alleluia! Glory to Love and the eternal Light.

So now is the time for me to feel that Spirit or surge of energy. The various choral singers do their thing in churches, homes, at stations… the buskers strum their guitar on buses, trains, and subways. My friend dresses up as Santa and plays the Scottish flute while beating her drums. The music is so beautiful!!

Can you hear her, whoever or wherever you are, can you hear the ‘Hark the Herald Angels sing’, the ‘I wish you a Merry Christmas?’ Above all, does it make you a better person, do you feel joy.

Christmas Lights

Shoppers are smarter now, in the sense that many shop early and so today the crowd, although enough in my neighbourhood, was not too much for me. I saw a few baby Jesus’ lying in their Mangers and one or two Santas’ at subways, doing their thing.

Today was our Christmas party, that small community of my brothers and sisters who celebrate with worship and with silence; with good food and with plays, videos, games and skits. I laughed a lot, like the child does and I felt that humour had become my Saviour. So many of my cobwebs disappeared!

So let us pray or dance; wear festive clothing and do whatever is necessary, so long as it brings real joy. It is the Spirit in the ether; the momentum of energy that permeates from the gladdened Hearts that help us, the omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience of Something Higher. The sense of Gratitude for our lives, our families and friends; to know that we have come so far and to celebrate the winding down of another hectic twelve months of struggle, or strife.

Today, I offer you my good will, my thankfullness; my Heart’s Gratitude as I laugh and weep with you, not in sorrow, but in celebration for the birth of our Lord as indeed all faiths do, even if they manifest in different ways, the same oneness aspect of the Divine. Our Lord exhorts us to love and to love is to serve:

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." - John, 13: 34.

May the Supreme Presence finds us worthy and may we dance in tune with the life-breath of God the Absolute Sound and Silence. Glory to the One! Hosanna in the Highest! Let us give thanks and Praise. Amen.

O Love, O my Beautiful Love, Come!

Come! O my Sweet tapestry of breath and Being --

This dance that sways me, like a puppet on a string.

You tug at the longing of my soul,

Covering my shadows, with the rays of Thy Sun.

My mother carried the pain of Thy kernel,

Deep inside her sacred sanctum,

But You came to her deliverance,

Turning the sorrow of her afflictions,

To an unutterable, unending joy.

O my Sweetheart; o my unfathomable One,

I felt Your beauty, even in the stranglehold of purgatory.

Dowsing the burning flames of Hades,

You placed Your lips, on the folds of my nakedness,

Flooding my Spirit, with the strands of Thy Delight.

Aye, ‘though I stumble in the dark tunnel of despair,

I see the arrow of Thy resplendence,

Swallowing the very drops of my aloneness,

As they fall like meteors, from my tears of millennia.

O Love, o my Beautiful Love, Come!

Ah, Thank You, Ann.

I had forgotten this one. Thank you for coming and for your fine sentiment.

Ann Carr from SW England on May 09, 2018:

It's taken me a while to catch up with this - better late than never!

Dora is so worthy of a tribute like this; always a considerate and wise person with so much compassion and goodness.

You're right that everyone seems to be kinder and brighter at Christmas, even though they might not be believers. It's something in the air!

Lovely piece and your prose is as eloquent as your poetry.

Manatita, I always love when you preface a poem with prose, or a story. I enjoyed your Christmas "share". And, of course, the poem is exquisite.

Ah, my charming and eloquent Nellieanna. You have written to me a very sweet song. Such heart-rending music and sweetness in your words!

Yes, I've been there. Such sweet reminiscences! Touches my Heart.

How I loved this childlike and childhood beauty!

My very best to you and your special family. Have a great Christmas and let us both look forward to a light-filled 2018. Alleluia.

Nellieanna Hay from TEXAS on December 19, 2017:

How I adore the traditional Christmas carols! They are engrained in my heart from my childhood, when those were the only music one heard and enjoyed at Christmastime! I remember little Christmas pageants at school (yes, it was legal then) and at Church! Carolers came around neighborhoods singing. One went to sleep with them resounding in one's heart. It's wonderful to hear and be reminded of those!

I also treasure years of fond memories of Christmases when I hand-made all the gifts and cooked all the goodies. Even the package-wrappings were personally designed and rendered without commercial effects. I'd sit up all night finishing all the details. It FELT like giving from the heart!

Christmas is so much a time for remembering the real reason for the season, the birth in that manger and the enormous gift to mankind it is.

One of the memorable more recent Christmases was one George and I spent at the ranch, just the two of us and our two kitties, out under the amazing sky with the crystal-clear stars and Milky Way the only lights. There were bales of hay under the shed roof inspiring my sense of how it must have been in that manger. It seemed so immediate!

This Christmas Eve, I'm invited to share festivities with a large related-by-marriage family, with 5 children present and with delicious Mexican foods, so it will be wonderful. Children being present seem to make it so much more festive! All my own direct young progeny are way up north, so this is a special treat.

Thanks for honoring dear Dora's loving spirit with this beautiful hub and some of your unequalled poetry! I love the verse praising your mother!

My fondest best wishes for YOUR happy Christmas and the brand new year to follow soon! Keep up your great work, dear Manatita! I know you will!
