The Grinch

The Grinch

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas

Evil lurks behind his eyes
He dreams of Christmas’ demise
With a bitter heart of tiny size
His goal to hear their woeful cries

Views the day, green with greed
Stealing presents to impede
He slinks around, amazing speed
It looks as though he will succeed

A devil’s grin upon his face
Taking décor from every space
Leaving darkness in its place
Wanting so bad to erase

Epiphany hits this crook
When he stopped to take a look
Unabated by what he took
Quivering his body shook

Now his beliefs have gone askew
As his heart and caring grew
Receiving love that’s overdue
Now accepted by the Who

Thank you! That's the best thing about having kids. You get to be a kid again through and with them.

Jaye Denman from Deep South, USA on November 07, 2013:

Your verses are right in keeping with the tone set by Dr. Seuss. When my offspring were children, we always watched the Grinch movie and sang along with the song. I still like both the movie and the song, and I'm 70 years old. I think there are a lot of adults who are still Dr. Seuss groupies! This may prove the theory that inside every old body lives the mind and soul of a child. We need to remember that and let the child out sometimes.
