The Girl of Sunflowers and Thorn

the-girl-of-sunflowers-and-thorn

You are the girl of sunflowers,
Beautiful beneath the brightness
Of your hazel eyes and touched cheeks.

You are a mid-day melody that
I hear always and forever.

You are a smile I need,
And can’t bear to live without.

You are a comfort that holds wonder,
And one that few can understand.

A wind and breeze of destiny,
Far from any man’s reach.
And stand by what embraces your eventide luminescence.

You are the only goodness in me,
And the purity I can’t hold amongst absence.

The one I can stand by always,
And the summer day that lingers far apart.

You are the canary that may sleep
Under a tree‘s shade,
And know that you are loved.

You sleep amongst the grass,
And I along your side—
Hearing the soft breath you
Gently inhale.

You are the girl of sunflowers and thorn,
An angel that bears both the pain of goodness and my heart.

Yeah I am actually. I'm a full time college student so it's a little difficult to manage the time to actually do it, but the ideas all in my head; just need the time to write it down =]. Thank you for your support and comment.

Lovely and lyrical, really like the opening lines in particular - musical. The sunflower thorn opposition is a refreshing change form rose and thorn. Nice one. Thanks

how can i not? you don't have a monopoly of pain, my friend. we're all blessed and cursed with it. Haha i enjoyed the discussion, thanks for the time :D

Glad you agree =]. Great discussion Cris.

Cris A from Manila, Philippines on December 16, 2009:

i see your point and i agree. eloquence thy name is arthur. love as you see it cannot exist in a vacuum or on its own. there has to be pain or suffering or somebody hurting for it to be identified and felt. there's no light when you take away the dark.

Arthur Gulumian (author) from Pasadena, CA on December 16, 2009:

I think if there was no pain, then there is no love. A fearless man is someone that can not ever love, because if he is not afraid to lose his love, then he doesn't love at all. Same applies to the bonding of love; if there is no pain, then how could you demonstrate your devotion? How could you show that your love is stronger than the pain? Is that the beauty that lies within the sunflower more powerful than the thorns around it? Believe me, if there is one way to prove your love, it is through conflict. A conflict, strengthens the relationship. Whether conflict seals a bond, or destroys it, the strength of the two beings is still broadened.

Cris A from Manila, Philippines on December 16, 2009:

which makes me ponder, would it not be love if it's without a thorn?

Arthur Gulumian (author) from Pasadena, CA on December 16, 2009:

I do love her =]. One of my closest friends, and there is always a thorn Cris as we all know. Thanks for reading I appreciate it.
