The Dark Horses Running

Dark Horses running

They were chomping at the bit

When the flood gates were opened

Out they all came lickety-split

The first to charge forward

Was Donald the Trump

Who thinks he will ace this race

And leave all the others in a dead heat slump

The Donald charged full speed ahead

Thinking the others slow in the head

With Cruz nipping at his hooves

The Donald’s ego is fed

Hillary will not make it out of the gate

The Donald said

As she whizzed right past, surging ahead

Then he felt the “Bern” as Sanders’s dust he ate

Chris Christie is yelling

“GET OUTTA MY WAY”

Or I will close all your bridges

And make you all pay

Jeb Bush says he is his brother’s keeper

At least of his policies

And he promises to take us to war

With his brother’s ideologies

Benghazi, Benghazi, the baby is still kicking

You can hear Fiorina say, even though

The Benghazi Commission is funding Rubio

And the kicking baby is proven to be a false video

Cruz pledges allegiance to his country of birth

He will give them all the land of America’s earth

For the Keystone XL pipeline to lay

Still questioning Obama’s birth-place today

The dark horses are down to two

The Donald is starting to spew

Look at Bill Clinton

If you think Hillary is for you

I demand Hillary's e-mails made public

And show them to you, and Putin can have a peek too

When I am President,

I will tell the world what I think of her and what I think of YOU!

What Cruz thinks about America

What Cruz thinks about America

Huckabee, Santorum, Kasich, Pataki and Paul

All running neck and neck next to last place

Hoping to be in this race for the long haul

Jindal can’t keep up the pace as he dropped out of the race

Perry is out of the running

Unable to continue the pace

As Walker is scratched for

His Super-PAC sake

One dark horse will stagger across the finish line?

Drunk on the power of leaving the others behind.

The Race Is On

Breast fed, then golden spoon fed, possibly until the age of seven

Exquisite food, exotic feast, yo mama, sweet heaven

Private school, military no less, Vietnam, no way Jose

Deferred while planning Trump Tower, olay

Married first time, ditched her when she turned thirty

Children born, handsome son and a daughter, kinda pretty

Married again two months after child was born

Ditched her for a younger babe who was foreign

That's life, that's what people say

(cont'd below)

— always exploring a.k.a. Ruby Fuller

I guess they refused to be groomed like a piece of clay

Back on his feet, feeling like a king

Running the race for the white house, dismissing both the right and left wing

It's as if he's saying, " I'm gonna roll myself in a big ole ball and fly

All you little people BORING, so sad all you do is cry

The vets must surely love the Don

His millionaire friends gave millions for their loving care. Is it a con?

Early voting starts next week Tuesday. As you know, I pretty sure Putin will reinstall Trump in the presidency because Trump has been a literal dream come true for Putin. But we must all go out and vote just the same in case they bother to count them.

A judge has overruled our governor regarding the drop-off boxes for mail-in votes, but I plan to go in person. You know that the governor ordered that there be only one drop-off box in every county, right? Anything to discourage voting.

The dark horse in this election (IMHO) is Trump. Dark as in evil. I won't believe Trump really has Covid-19 unless he dies from it. Not wishing bad things on him, but sometimes they happen anyway. I hope he loses and is gone soon, but beyond that he can live a long and healthy life -- maybe in prison where you or I would be if we had done all the crimes he has.

Hope you and Walter are staying healthy and safe from the virus that seems to be ballooning again. Blessings, dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on August 01, 2020:

Turns out Bloomberg didn't last very long, nor did his promise to continue running ads less than flattering to Trump even if he wasn't the Democratic nominee.

I guess the dark horse in this election will be the vice-presidential nominee for the Democrats as that is the only person yet to be named. Personally, I favor Tammy Duckworth.

Posting this to AH & FB.

Blessings, dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on February 15, 2020:

Seems like Mike Bloomberg is the dark horse in this presidential race, so far at least. I've read his polls are rising and pretty quickly. He wouldn't be my first choice as he's basically a misogynist and a bit racist besides. I do like the ads he's running though and I appreciate his willingness to support whoever the Democratic candidate ends up being even if it isn't Bloomberg.

Hope all is well with you. Blessings, dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on January 08, 2020:

Several states are refusing to put Republican opposition (to Trump) candidates on their ballots. The corruption in our government is unbridled, and so bad that it will be a wonder if the government of this country will still be in existence as we have known it, at the end of 4 more years.

Posting this on AH & FB. Hope all is well with you dear friend. Blessings . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on August 24, 2019:

Some of the Democrats that were initially running for president have dropped out. Having 20 some people running all at once seemed silly to me. None of them got much attention as a result.

I hope there's a dark horse or 2 on the GOP side. Trump might be dumped if a strong opponent gets into the Republican primary.

Hope all is well with you. Blessings dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on June 08, 2019:

It's so long until the election next year, almost a year and a half, that much can, and likely will change before then. Whether there will be any dark horses is something to think about, but for sure there are a lot of horses. Hopefully the Republicans will primary the president. Not likely, but it sure would be cool if they did.

Hope all is well with you dear friend. Blessings always . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on January 23, 2019:

Seems like the presidential election starts earlier and earlier every time. Still nearly 2 years before the next election and lots of people have already thrown their hats in the ring.

Since 'they' have proven that the Russians swayed the last election and basically installed Trump illegally, I think we should have another election right now, within the next 30 days, and Trump be forbidden to compete. Indeed, he needs to get free room and board for a while, maybe for life, for his part in helping the Russians defraud our country in the most recent election.

This government shutdown is unbelievable. Perhaps a mental institution would be the best place for Trump. All I know for sure is that we need to get him out of office and away from anything and anywhere he can continue to damage/destroy this country.

I've read that some people believe the general public should start having demonstrations, demanding Trump's removal. I wonder if that will come to fruition before this whole debacle is resolved . . .

Posting this on AH and FB.

Blessings dear friend. Take care.

Au fait, thank you so much for the comments.

I think the dark horses will run away

For fear that trump will bar the way

Maybe in a straitjacket he will be taken away

There are dragons he just cannot slay

C E Clark from North Texas on January 24, 2018:

I wonder who the dark horses will be in 2020? The history professor (Allan Lichtman) who has successfully predicted the winners of every presidential election since 1984 (including Trump when nobody thought he would win) is now predicting that Trump will be impeached and that he will be charged with "crimes that will shock the nation." I wonder if the professor will be right this time? We should know within this year, but will anyone do anything about it even if Trump is guilty with plenty of evidence to back it up? Even the Democrats seem to be trying to protect him right now. If he is forced out of office by some means -- and it doesn't seem like anyone who has the power to do that has the guts to do it, then there may be a 'dark horse' running for the Republican Party too -- if it survives Trump.

We seem to be living in interesting times . . .

Take care dear friend . . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 07, 2017:

Au fait, thank you so much for the comment. I don't think any of that matters, seems like the investigation into Russia gate is being drug out in hopes that we 'the American people' will forget.

I hope all is well with you.

Blessings always my friend.

C E Clark from North Texas on April 27, 2017:

This has to be some of the longest 100 days in history. Mr. Trump has been stayed again by a judge in California. He still hasn't learned to take it like a grownup. Doesn't he know that once a bill has passed and Congress has allotted money to a particular thing that he can't just undo it because he feels like it? If he could we'd have a dictator and no Congress. Expect Bush is pleased with Trump because Bush is no longer the worst president this country ever had . . .

Au fait, thank you for the comments, compliments and for sharing. You are right this does need an up-date on how the race is going and who is in the lead, who is going to help us and who will make us bleed.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I hope you were not out in last night's rain - Our power went out - and I could do nothing in the dark so I went to bed -

I hope all is well with you.

Blessings and hugs my dear friend.

Mr. Happy from Toronto, Canada on July 04, 2016:

That was super-really nice! I've never had anyone answer with a poem in their comments ... What a treat - thank You! : )

Mr. Happy my friend,

I am so glad you found this fun to read

That is what poetry is, I hope you see

Words that rhyme, that tell a story of our time

Or heartbreak in every line

Maybe perfect love gone blind

By hatred of the cheating kind

You can spin a tale of woe

With every rhyming word you sow

So...thank you Mr. Happy for the read

I hope I planted a rhyming poetry seed.

This was a fun poem to read - I don't generally read poems. I actually am not sure if I ever read a political poem until now lol

Thanks for putting it together - cheers! : )

C E Clark from North Texas on June 21, 2016:

This is really a well written excellent poem. You should update it when you get a chance to express the current results of all those dark horses. Of course we can't know for sure that all the dark horses are out of the running until after the GOP convention. Only then will we know if the Republican high mucky-mucks will allow the people (Republican supporters) to have their way or if the high-ups will force their own will onto the people. I say if they want Trump, then let them have Trump.

This has surly been the most interesting presidential election in history and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Then how will they outdo this one next time?

Love this poem. Sharing it. Blessings and hugs my dear friend. Take care . . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 22, 2016:

Au fait, thank you for the comment and for sharing. Yes the Donald is suppose to be funding his own campaign, but think about it, if he has a super PAC and when/if he loses the election he is allowed to keep those megabucks, I am thinking that was his strategy all along.

I saw the picture and I have seen other things that more closely resemble phallic symbols than this picture, to me it looks more like a twisted mind of someone obsessed with a lack of sexuality.

I got to much sleep and got a bad headache.

I hope all is well with you and hope you got your phone fixed.

Blessings and hugs dear friend,

C E Clark from North Texas on May 16, 2016:

Read yesterday that 2 multibillionaires are going to give the Trumpster a hundred million dollars each for his campaign. Trump has a super pac set up. Wonder who will own The Donald now? Even though he has a lot of money compared to most of us, there are still a lot of people out there with more . . . sharing.

Forgot to mention when we talked that I sent you an email yesterday (5-15). Sent you a picture of the 'pin' Pinterest removed from one of my boards because it was sexually suggestive. Thought you'd want to see it.

Take care dear friend and be sure to get your sleep. Not being tired can make such a difference when dealing with all the things you have to do everyday. Take care . . .

Oh boy! What a circus this Presidential race is! Goodluck to all my American friends. May you choose the brightest of them all, but then again, they all claim to be one. :)

And, this hub is very clever. Totally enjoyed!

Love from the sky~

C E Clark from North Texas on February 29, 2016:

Seems like the dark horses are dwindling. Funny how the news media try to make out Rubio and Cruz were the winners in recent primaries when they tied for second place well behind Trump. Wondering how he's going to weather this current storm with David Duke . . .

Sharing this again.

Hope everything is OK there and hopefully improving. Hugs, blessings, and prayers for John's soon recovery.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 23, 2016:

Dear Ruby, thank you for the comment. I love George Jones; I love Bernie Sanders, always have; I love Hillary, she is the strongest person and which of these wins the nomination is okay with me.

Yes I did see the picture of him being arrested for protesting. No one can ever say he does not practice what he preaches.

Thank you for the high praise.

Blessings and Hugs to you my dear friend.

Ruby Jean Richert from Southern Illinois on February 20, 2016:

I had to come back and listen to my man George. The race is still on, but I think Jeb is on his way out, and Cruz is being sued ' cos he ' ain't an American citizen. Rubio was born in Cuba! What's going on? Bernie is tied with Hillary, he'll be lucky to live through this, he's an old man! but I can't say that I don't like him, I do. Did you see the picture of him 50 years ago being carried by two cops because he was marching with Martin Luther King. You ' gotta ' love him.I love this Dark Horses Running. It is a masterpiece.....

Hi.

An appropriate analogy of the "Dark Horses Running", Shyron. You have exposed characteristics they are " running from" only to let us wait and see who will finish the race with most of his "skeleton in the closet'' and undisclosed blunders...

Blessings to you and Peace.

Nell Rose from England on February 17, 2016:

Well the advantage of living in England is that we can sit back, watch, scratch our heads and hope the best gets chosen! lol! love this!

Amusing verses. I think you left out Deez Nutz, who still has a legitimate shot to win a few of the state races.

Hi Nadine, thank you for the visit, comment and compliment. I love politics from the outside, we do have to have leaders, and we don't always get the best. Our current President has done a good job, but our Congress has refused to work with him for the good of the people and our country. I am praying that people realize that we need to read and get to know who not to vote for.

I like what Billy wrote before me. I loved the humor you add to this ridiculous rat race. Even in South Africa due to Facebook we sometimes learn snippets about your coming election. I do not listen to any politician anymore when they present their debate. They all speak words that have no truth in it. These people are all greedy and power hungry.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 07, 2016:

You are welcome Ann. Your country needs a Constitution. Our country has one but Ted Cruz, does not think it pertains to him. He is a natural born Canadian who wants to get the Canadian company TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline laid across the U.S. they don't want to lay the pipeline across Canada because it is caustic/corrosive/toxic and dangerous to humans and the environment as I said in 'the Keystone XL pipeline is bad for America.' Sorry Ann for the Rant, but any country deserves better than Ted Cruz, in my opinion.

Blessings to you dear friend.

Thanks for the info; that's interesting.

We don't have a written constitution of course, so certain things arise that have to be sorted out. All in all, I think our system works well and has stood the test of time. It'll be interesting to see who wins the race!

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 05, 2016:

Ann, thank you for the wonderful comment.

I hope the Brits don't mimic our elections although it is an interesting race so far. We have an assortment of clowns. Our constitution says "to be president a person has to be "a NATURAL BORN citizen" not the son of a natural born citizen. Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen of Canada. All the others have a right to run.

Blessings my friend

Ann Carr from SW England on February 05, 2016:

All we seem to see here about your election is Trump and his egoistic act. I can't stand him. There's rarely much about the others.

Other than that, it's difficult for a Brit to understand all the razzmatazz of the US Presidential elections. Mind you, I get the feeling our lot want to mimic it; they're already giving signs of doing so. Heaven forbid!

Great poems, Ruby!

Demas, thank you for the comment, I do appreciate you and your opinion my friend. No we haven't seemed too concerned about the lust in the White House at least not until one party wanted to pry the president of the opposite party out of his seat. Now I view this as similar to musical chairs.

I don't know who the next president will be, but if it is Ted Cruz, we don't have to worry, he will kill us all with the contaminated spills from the Canadian (his place of birth) Keystone XL Pipeline, not unlike Rick Snyder's poisoning of the drinking water of Flint Michigan.

Just keep on always exploring. We haven't seemed too concerned about presidents' love lives and paramours since John F. Kennedy's back only bothered him sometimes. Better they get their wild oats over before they enter the supposedly blemish free White House.

As for me, give me someone who actually achieves goals more than ones who just speak of them, and I don't give much stock to Mrs. Clinton's worldwide travels on taxpayer funds as weighed against what she accomplished (?) and her disdain for the rules that are supposed to keep our country safer.

Suzie from Carson City on January 30, 2016:

SHYRON.....Very clever & creative! You nailed it!! Paula

C E Clark from North Texas on January 30, 2016:

Agree with Bill. This has been and will likely continue to be one of the most interesting (least boring) presidential elections ever. I really think this one is going to be a big deal in the history books compared to most of the others -- probably all of the others.

With just over 9 months to go, and the Party conventions just around the corner, there is still time for some surprises. I can't remember when so many people took so much interest in all of the shenanigans. I'm glad more people are taking an interest.

Excellent poem. I really admire your ability to find just the right words and then put them all together to make such a well expressed statement in poetry form. Well done and would vote this way up if I could. Sharing of course.

Hope you and John are enjoying our reprieve from the colder weather and that all is well there. Blessings dear friend. Take care . . .

John Hansen from Queensland Australia on January 29, 2016:

You should be a race caller Shyron.....it will be interesting to see who even finishes this race without breaking down. I guess whoever is bread to stay the distance. As in horse races there is often a surprise winner. You can't always rely on the favourite.
