The Allure Of Tropical Islands

The Freedom Of That Tropical Breeze in Your Face

Who Can Resist A Holiday Where The Sea Is Warm And The Sky, is Blue Forever.

Islands have been our destination for quite a few vacations.

Islands have been our destination for quite a few vacations.
We took a cruise around the Caribbean islands. They were all so different and unique , having their own special appeal.
Loved staying in St Thomas in The U.S.V.I. and from there explored the surrounding areas. The coves and inlets and lovely white sandy beaches.

We hired a little wooden cottage at the top a hill, overlooking Tortola island, and other small ones in the distance. From there you could watch lovely schooners and other sailing boats in full sail, gliding past at dawn to dusk.

The snorkelling at Koki Point was wonderful and we were blessed to see so many stunning tropical fish in iridescent colours swimming unconcerned amongst us.

Took a ferry ride to St . John where we walked to the top of a mountain overlooking the bay where we had snorkelled that morning. The view was out of this world with the Caribbean sea in Aquamarine, spread out below us, to the horizon.

The people who live on these islands are so friendly and always greet you with a smile as you walk around the little villages and markets. Hard working and humble people with big hearts.
The Island life never disappoints and you are lulled to sleep by the tropical night, the summer songs that drift through your window, to a beat and rhythm of their own.

Beautiful Scenery And Freedom From Day To Day Stresses And Strains

The tropical breezes wafted through the window of my heart

The tropical breezes wafted through the window of my heart
calling me to visit again, the islands so far away, but so a part
Sandy white beaches and turquoise seas
Sea gulls flying effortlessly
in the breeze.

The coconut palms swaying gently to and fro
Casting welcome shadows on those below.
Fisherman casting their nets day by day
Eagerly awaiting a catch before the sun sets and the evening glow.

The people of the islands have a rhythm of their own
going about their simple lives far from the city hustle
peaceful and following the ebb and flow of the island life they only know.

What To Pack For That Special Tropical Island Getaway

The one thing that people forget is how hot a tropical beach will be!

1. Remember to take a couple of pairs of sunglasses, in case the one is mislaid or breaks.
2. Sunscreen and enough of it , especially waterproof ones. Some people are allergic to the perfumes in some of the lotions, so test before you go on holiday.
3. Hats and peaks are a must. Natural fibres are best as they will keep you cooler.
4. Sarongs in a variety of colours are useful for the beach. Many you will be able to purchase at the local markets.
5. Soft cotton tee shirts in light colours are a must for your shorts and skirts.
6. Plenty of underclothes..who wants to do a lot of laundry?
7. Lovely flowing shifts for cocktail evenings or show's at that tropical beach cafe.
8. Good sneakers for walking and flip flops for that hot sandy beach.
9. A windbreaker can help ward off the flash tropical showers too.
10. Your bathing costume ..and another bikini in case you swim twice. Lovely big beach towel for your lazy day on the beach will be so useful.

There are many other things but these are your basics....Oh and remember your passport!

Oh how I would love to feel the breeze upon my face.

It sounds magical!

I love going on vacations and having a place by the ocean sounds heavenly.

We went to Put in Bay last Summer and I loved the island.

This year it seems vacation may not happen with everything closed down for Covid-19.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice article. Tropical stands are a wonderful holiday. I have been on one cruise to the South Pacific and it was a great experience.
