Reading the works of your favorite authors and allowing yourself to be inspired by the literary devices that they employ, is the greatest method to come up with your own unique writing style. In order to accomplish this, it is necessary to become familiar with several strategies that may be implemented in the process of developing your creative writing style. However, the following are useful techniques you can utilize, to begin with.
Show rather than tell.
"Don't tell me the moon is bright; show me the glimmer of light on shattered glass," the author Anton Chekhov famously penned. Don't just explain what you mean; instead, create an experience for your audience so they may learn the tale for themselves in order to write writing that sheds fresh light on reality. Start by stimulating your readers' senses with rich pictures and descriptive language to make them feel as though they are really experiencing the narrative. For instance, "My eyes welled up with warm, salty tears" conjures up an image that is far stronger than "I sobbed."
Keep it brief.
Write your book as though you were being paid $5 per word for the opportunity of doing so. Consider the following example:
He moved silently and slowly in the other direction. He was experiencing an emotional tempest as his sentiments were seething and boiling. He kept telling himself that he had done the right thing and that he had taken all the necessary steps. She will undoubtedly notice this at some point, he continued to tell himself.
Let's give it another go. The same example, but with more emphasis.
He skulked off, his emotions in disarray. He assured himself that he had made the proper decision. She would eventually realize this, too.
over a third of the total length And it's superior in every way. Things expresses it better, not just more quickly. All that wording in the earlier draft only impeded the message.
Employ thesis statement.
Do you recall this in your previous writing classes, maybe in grade school? Despite not being academic in nature, creative writing nevertheless requires them. A thesis may be thought of as the narrative's beating heart or the connecting thread. Writing is both a discipline and an act of discovery, so it's simple to veer off topic and lose focus on your main point. Decide exactly what you want your essay to say before you begin, and then type or write it at the top of the page as an anchor. From there, you may consciously craft each word, phrase, and paragraph to support and reinforce your main points.
Say it plainly.
Have you ever abandoned up on a piece of writing or instruction manual because you were annoyed with the wording? Don't encrypt fantastic stuff if you have it. Reduce the text into manageable chunks to provide your reader even more value.
Look at other prose writing; the information is excellent, but it is condensed into simple words and short phrases. Details are provided for ideas. There are few paragraphs and a lot of white space can be seen. You have everything you need to write clearly and concisely there in front of you.
Astonish the reader.
Good fiction frequently has unexpected turns, whereas nonfiction frequently reads predictably, which is to say, dully.
Do it better and, if you can, add a surprising turn or twist. Your audience will remain entertained and interested. Why do we prefer to wrap our presents and why do we watch dramas? It's for the thrill of the surprise that's in store for us. Asking a query and providing an unexpected response can keep readers on the edge of their seats. What prominent individual created the first blueprints for a robot, for instance, if you were writing an essay on them?
