Tears of a Sentinel
Degeneres animos timor arguit.
(Fear is a sign of a degenerate mind.)
— Publius Virgilius Maro/Virgil
A man with a rifle - is what I want to be
Here to save lives - but it isnt allowed for me
Desk-riding bureaucrats say, "You have no right."
Cowardly brass says, "We arent here to fight."
I joined up to do my best
Not sit-on-ass, then waddle to the Mess
I am a soldier and not a drone
Sleep, fear, and doubt - I left at home
Screw me for trying hard, right?
A self-obsessed office rat says its not my fight
Orders are to lay low - but mission briefing said otherwise
Soldier's creed is not to be exercised
Journalists, Desk surfers, and dumb civvies cultivate the lies
Afraid of their own shadows - yet they say no
"Don't protect me - take your rifle and go"
Regurgitating the enemy's message; they heard from a dumb TV show
So, what will you do; when they come for you?
Terrorists, Unabombers, psychotics
Doped up, on radicalism and narcotics
Who will you blame when people die
Who will avenge, when an innocent soul cries
Mother and child - your godless cowardice sacrifices
You; cowards, traitors, and fools - the true enemy, Satan's mindless tools
Will pay dearly, for when I'm long gone
For when all your walls fall - you remain alone

I'm sure a soldier wants to help out at all cost, but they have a system to follow...I suppose.
