Introduction

When one discovers that something is good, it is always good to let others know about the thing. Having discovered HubPages.com, I have been thinking of how to get in touch with someone, a close friend who alongside with me and 7 other people formed a local christian bulletin called “The Light” about twenty-two years ago so that he can also try and sign up on this site.

He has relocated to the rural area to start another business since our bulletin publication couldn’t thrive.

While reading about “Life Sketch of James Weldon Johnson”, by Linda Sue Grimes, (another prolific writer on HubPages,) she states that “…Johnson…founded a newspaper, “The Daily American” which remained in circulation for only a year…” My mind goes back to my friend, and others and I said to myself, “there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecc. 1:9), what happened to us, someone has experienced it centuries before, some may be experiencing the same now and there will yet be people who will in the future.

Ancient Saying in My Land

When somebody you have been thinking about or talking about emerges or appears without you calling the person, the Yoruba people belief that the person is not a bastard.

As I continue to read the article and was thinking about him he appears claiming that he was in town for an assignment on behalf of the community. I told him about this site and of the need to join.

Some of the words shared with me I want to share here trusting that it will be of use to people especially people from the developing countries of the world.

1. Options to Choose From

My Friend: There are many writers now unlike when we were writing Christian articles

Me: Writers are like different companies producing the same product in some instances, under different branded names. Pfizer and Oxford/Astrazeneca have produced Covid-19 vaccines, giving countries of the world different options to choose from. If you write, presenting your points from other perspectives we all shall learn from it.

2. It Will Take Forever Before I Am Known

My Friend: How do I gain traffic to my site when I write unpopular articles?

Me: Unpopular articles are like uncommon products in town, though they may not be bought immediately, but when there is demand for it, it would be sought out and at that time it may cost more. Same with unpopular articles as you said, when being demanded for, the traffic to your site will be improved.

3. Gaining Traffic

4. Crossing the Boundary:

My Friend: How do I cross the boundaries seeing that many people in our settlements still have low value for internet use and they are those who ought to at first appreciate my works before outsiders do.

Me: Internet launches people to the world, though it is good that people we know be on the platform, for it will help greatly, but if we can’t get such people, we have to take our destinies in our hands, believing in ourselves of what we can do, prayerfully hoping that people who can isolate talents will discover and appreciate our works one day. That is what’s in my mind, that is what motivates me to try this international site.

In conclusion

My Friend: I have heard what you said, I will give it a due consideration

Me: That will be wonderful. We should not let our talents die with us.

As I see him off.
