The same way you get your woman is the same way you keep her, women are like a fine wine, they improve over time...
I threw my hands up and said the hell with it, I have reached the end of the line
I was sick and tired of this mans unrealistic demands, love was the farthest thing from my mind
His vision of the perfect woman was shape like a sodapop bottle with hair down to her thighs
she only wore stilettos, skimpy clothes and did most of her shopping on line
she got her hair done once a week and grace the nail shop twice
always had dinner prepared on time drapped in a diamond mine
I thought to myself those magazines have altered my mans mind and invaded our little space, this sodapop bottle I knew was definitely out of place
stilettos ha! the heels are to darn thin, they could never hold up this suitcase, the moment I slip one toe in I would fall all over the place
I know my ward drobe is gone to hell and I'm always in the market for a good sale, but with all these demanding bills, my pocketbook has gotten rather frail
I had to find away to cut corners, so I do my own hair, you would think he would appreciate that, seeing as his pockets aren't that fat
yes! I love a manicure and pedicure, get one everday, every time I take a bubble bath I scrub it all away, my hands and feet get a permanent holiday
If I get home before he does I head straight for the kitchen, but times are rough and I need a little assitance with all this extra stuff
on special occasions I will admit I do brake down and cook, put on some skimpy clothers and try to look a little like his book
but if the fantasy doesn't work oh well! I did my best to try, and anyway these years gone by hasn't been that complimentary to his thighs
them damn magazines are invading my space so I shoved them beneath my blossoming suitcase, took me a swig of two wine sippers and put back on my glass slippers

Reading this made me happy that I am divorced and only have to worry about what I think of myself each day I look in the mirror. I found after being married for 40 yrs. no matter how good I looked my husband was still eye balling some other woman. I feel FREE, with my daughter and I sharing the bills, we get along just fine. My daughter saw how her dad treated me and it soured her wanting to get married, as she is career orientated anyway, no time for trying to look good for some cheating man. She also saw all her School friends, having children one after the other and their husbands off doing their own thing....Now the men are cheating on the Internet, Lordy!! so glad I don't have to be fretting what he might be up to.....Love yourself, and if there is a good one out there, I hope he finds you....You deserve better.....A sister, Rene'e

He needs a pair of glass BVD's
so if he goes banging around too much
he's gonna get cut.
You dance on with those glass slippers,
and if he gets to outta hand,
I can tell you were to slip
one of those glass shoes
and you know what ...
it will fit...

Loved the prologue, loved the poem. Your poem is so real - the frail pocketbook, the attempts to be the perfect women - live the fantasy - wow! 5 Stars and I am truly honored to have met you. Must return now to my glass slippers.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I THINK I SPEAK FOR ALL THE WOMAN OUT THERE IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS SO, WHEN I WRITE, I TRY TO INTEGRATE EVERYTHING I'M GOING THROUGH, EVERYTHING I'VE BEEN THROUGH & ALL THE THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM OTHER'S SO, WE AS WOMEN CAN GET A BROADER VIEW OF SITUATIONS AS WELL AS SOME ASSISTANCE IN THE CHALLENGES WE GO THROUGH...LOL, R.K. The emotion behind these words packs a punch! Keep them glass slippers on, Sister! That is what led to the happy ending in Cinderella, after all! It is so unfair to try to remake another human being into what we desire...and then dump all the work on them too...Hold your head up, Karen. And stick to your guns!
