When a Man sets out to do Poetry he already has to figure it will be taken into some kind of odd consideration to begin with.Oh, Who Cares !
I Want To Fly High With The Eagles...
Well...Lost you when I was 11...
so much for forever...see you in heaven.
Lost you when I was 24...
Will miss you 'til I see you once more...
Lost you when I was 35...
I thought you were the one person who would always be alive.
Lost you when I was 38...
Thank you for always being so great.
Lost you when I was 41...
Where'd you go...my brave step-son?
Lost you when I was 43...
You were always so special to me.
Of life that I have known...and those that were so close to me...
Isn't it weird to know...I don't know when I'll meet up with you...in eternity.
I am a man...so this isn't about the sad...on this poem...right here...
It is about how life whittles down...all the folks around you hold dear.
It is Cause to celebrate your life...It is Cause for me to recall...
Sometimes I go through life...and I don't remember you at all.
Why did we come to this planet... just to leave...
Why did we have you once with us...then later once...we had to grieve?
What is the point of living here...if we only...just got to pack up and go...
I tell you...it don't make sense to me...Can anyone answer this...Does anybody know?
Nope...this is not a sad poem...only one made for you to think...
We are here for one moment in time...and gone...faster than you can blink.
What does it mean to have memories of folks...that live on in your mind...
Will it ever come to the point where you join back to their memories in time?
Did you become a survivor...Did they just go away?
Did time leave you standing still...as you made it through another day?
Have you looked at death...and sent it packing... or let it pass you by...
While others had death call on them...Yet...Not you...I wonder why?
I have met some cool people...and some I wish I could "Poof" be gone...
Yet...some of the ones I loved the most have disappeared away...and moved on.
Now...stuck here with their memory...Who gave them permission to leave me here...?
I don't want to be burdened by sadness...of those I want to see again...even if once a year.
I am an Older Man now...Though...sometimes I think back to the good times with "them"...
I never asked for change...What the H_ll...Time moves further on and their memories dim.
What is so un-great...about this planet...that we all can't stay a little while longer?
Imagine what more we could see and do...If hearts just beat a little bit stronger.
I could meet and greet all the ones I have met and greeted before...
If Frickin' Time...would slow the second hand down...just a little bit more.
Damn...this gets aggravating...and for sure...I want to take some Time and take a break...!
I didn't get this far for nothing...Look how far I came and have learned from each mistake.
"What of Life that's fleeting...What of words...I never got to say...?"
That's what happens on the Day...Death comes to take you Away.
"What of those that I want to take care of...What of things unseen...?"
Whoops...It's Time to go now...Juz' Deal With It...Sorry...If that seems mean.
"What of Dad, and Grandparents...and fond laughter that knew no end...?"
Hey, that's just how life is...Too Bad; So Sad...Get over it...My Friend.
"But...I want to stay happy...I liked the good times...I liked the way things were before..."
No More Questioning...End of Discussion...Don't want to talk about this...no more.
"But, the young one who is gone...it's kind'a sad to see the good ones...die so young..."
It is one Big Monopoly "Crap-Shoot"...And Sometimes the Young...Also Get Stung!
"That ain't fair...and I'd like to file a formal protest!"
That's just the way it is...Let it go...Give it a rest!
"But I would like to interject another motion to the floor!"
Get over it...Things Change...Move On...and don't think about it anymore!
So...with this Poem...I end the discussion of: "So Much for Forever"...
I have not given up on those I'll remember...There is no such thing as never.
A Sensitive Man would write of things that are stuck in his brain...
But, I did not create this world...I want to be free of hurt...that could start to drive one insane.
Sadness and Old Times...and the thoughts of what might have been...
It is my time to be free of them...I'll see you sometime in the future once again.
Hit the Road, Nostalgia...Be Gone...Fences that will never mend...
I'm taking my life a little further on...to a higher plain of existence...I try to pretend.
I'll see ya' around later on...The People and Places we know...Time can not extend...
Make every moment last..."Cause just like that...(Blink)...It will END.
This one is a tribute in thought and words...to what would have been my parents 50th anniversary...yesterday. My Mom reminded me of it yesterday...and shared an old Photo. Looking at an ol' Black and White Photo of the Happy Couple on their Wedding Day...and Seeing them Surrounded by Friends and Family that are Gone...Or...Are Still Here...All I Want to Ask is: "Why does this Happen...?"
Why are some of us on this planet here for only awhile....and then others of us...still aren't here for Forever...Forever! Where we did our best to make a life on this planet...through Time...there's didn't last. "Why does this Happen...?"
In Memory to those who are no longer here.
Or With the Ducks...Shoot...I'm not too picky !
Music that Sounds Timeless for those who I want to Remember in Time.

Wow...ralwus...I've had my moments where death came close by...but I have read of your accounts with it...and mine are not that close. Who really knows how many other times...death passed us by? Still we are here...livin' and breathin'..and I am grateful that we both is! I agree with you..hold on to the fond memories in life...cause that's all we got! (And also try to make some new ones!) Later, my friend...MPM. [Don't know why we would've had someone cancel out our fannage support previously...there best not be no Spooks foolin' with the likes of us : )...!]

Touching poem indeed. I have been kissed by death's angel since young so many times. I quit asking why and have asked why not me? No answers yet, but I know he will come for me one day too. A wise man once wrote, All is vanity. But I sure hope he was wrong. Is it vain for me to want to leave behind good memories and a good name? Cling on to that nostalgia, really it is all we own besides our name.
BTW, I know dam good and well we fanned each other when meeting on the tree. Spooks I reckon. Great job with this poem Manly.

Aiysha117: Humbly...MPM is flattered to the core by your kind words...and since I can usually write and talk too much...I think I will graciously...and quietly...just bow out...stage right. Thank you for this wonderful comment...Indeed, I shall visit your poetry works...Thank you for the "invite"! Sincerely, just an ordinary poet...

I think this is one of the best poems I have read. As you may see in my article of what makes me write poetry, conflicting emotions is the theme and here in this poem there are so many fine examples that really pull the reader in. Fantastic work and I hope you might check out some of my poetry and give me some feed back. I would appreciate your input so much, especially from someone so talented. Thanks again for sharing this and I look forward to hearing from you.

Aways good talking with you, tantrum...Glad you liked this one. Humbly, MPM

Manly...Nicely put, I enjoyed reading this, twice...The 2nd reading revealed a rare sensitivity which you sometimes try to cover with your off-beat humor ( which I also enjoy )...but not here...this is a very sensitive and passionate poem that I can relate to...Thank you, my friend...Larry

judydianne: Really appreciate what you said about that this is a heartfelt poem. I guess that is ultimately what any poet writer would want said. That the words they were trying to convey to paper or monitor...went by the way of the heart and were projected onto the finished work! Stick around...judydianee...the poems only get better with age and time...juz' like us ol' farmers! Thanks for being a fan and reading my humble poetry...And a toast goes out from my heart to agree with what judydianne said about memories pulling us down: "To all the ones that had to leave...you are solely missed...But I want to keep things lighter now that I've already done the grief"!
judydianne from Palm Harbor, FL on August 29, 2009:
Obviously, this is a heartfelt poem...the best of yours so far since I've been reading your hubs...I agree, the ones who have passed would not want the memories to pull us down.

Pachuca213: Just asking myself why...you know? It seems to take us down to a strange level to have to miss folks. I got'ta be truthful...I want to be free of all the things that 'cause hurt in my life. It doesn't mean I still don't love the folks and friends that I had in my life...it just means that the memories are getting too heavy...I need to put them down. This is what I wish for you...to come to peace with your loss...even though your first love...and your Father (More than a Step-Dad!)...are gone...and you experienced much from the losses...they would want you to be free again. Back to where you were before you lost them. Sorry...for your losses. Gradual Healing will come! In thinking of how your reunion will be with them...sometime in to forever, Sincerely...MPM!

This brought me to tears. I could feel this so deeply. Especially since Tuesday will be the anniversary of the death of my beloved "first love" and two weeks after is the day my father (step-dad) died..that same year. It was the worst time of my life. It seems the more time passes the more loved ones I lose....it is horrible, I know. Sorry you are so hurt. I understand your sadness. ((HUGS))
