Short (They always are.) Haiku and Senryu

Demas is a professional author and freelancer. He published and edited two newspapers. Writing, for him, is just a way of sharing.

Whether fruits, nuts, or vegetables, they always somehow taste better as the result of you own labors.

Whether fruits, nuts, or vegetables, they always somehow taste better as the result of you own labors.

The Strawberry Patch, Cribbage, Fires, Love, and more.

Hidden below leaves,

but yearning to be noticed,

you yield up delight.

Cribbage

Locked down here alone,

others there are hereabouts

ready to play me.

Love rejected is as if it just snowed all over.

Love rejected is as if it just snowed all over.

Fire blazing night,

hot and dry grown hotter still,

men to the rescue.

Hotter than hot for days, and days!

Hotter than hot for days, and days!

The rejected heart

seeks elsewhere for its true love,

endlessly seeking.

Loneliness need not be solitary, but the broken heart is lonelier still.

Loneliness need not be solitary, but the broken heart is lonelier still.

Once alone with you,

silent sounds I said to you,

breeze-dissolved too soon.

Memories too hard to see.

Memories too hard to see.

The ocean's spray now,

like humanity's ocean,

people separate.

Alone with their thoughts.

Alone with their thoughts.

Thunderous warning,

look around to see what's next

in today's actions.

Incoming? Or outgoing?

Incoming? Or outgoing?

Summer dew drops

for a thirsting earth

heaven-sent promises.

Soft warmth of summer

envelops as a caress

recharging the heart.

The lone tree awaits its promises.

The lone tree awaits its promises.

The tree was there then,

it caught my fall from our kiss,

caught us both, in fact.

Great day of promise.

The beauty is without. The gold is within.

The beauty is without. The gold is within.

Haikus are so creative and beautifully expressed. I am impressed at your Haiku with a great mind you share your best.

So beautiful, all of them. In a few words you said it all. I love it!

You have a way with words. I always find these haiku way too hard to create. I'm too wordy, I guess.

Blessings,

Denise

Lovely collection! The images were scenic, and the poems had a whimsical feel to them.
