"Ridin' it to the End..."

When a Man sets out to do Poetry he already has to figure it will be taken into some kind of odd consideration to begin with.Oh, Who Cares !

"Ridin' it to the End..." A Poem about our Endless Journey!

"All Aboard for the Journey"...I hear called out by the conductor in a forward car... I will ride this thing till the end of the line...Surely...I don't care just exactly how far. [Picture from the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad]

Life is a Journey....There is something profound in Life about Hanging on till the End of the Journey. This is a Poem from my Life's Journey...Painted Out Across Words Of A Poetic Canvas. The "Wanderer" song below sets the tone...for exactly what Johnny Cash brought to music with his particular style. I set out to pay tribute to Johhny Cash with my writing style...or in my own words...in a manner which I could actually believe he could sing in a song. I was shootin' for "The Highwaymen" in style and texture of words. (I got'ta admit...even if I have to say so my own self...I think I hit pretty dang close to the mark.)

Cowboys...Hang on till the End of every Ride...with every buckin' Bronco...and every wild Bull...that they adjust their riggin' to....startin' right out'ta the chute. How do I combine the thought...the drive...of Hanging on till the very End of the Ride? Well...By using a pic of one to inspire the true feeling of Hanging on to the End of the Ride....for starters!

Johnny Cash sang a lot about "Travelling". Johnny had the presence as a singer...of one who I could very easily...imagine talking to while climbing into a passenger train car...or even after hoppin' a train way out in the middle of New Mexico...Nowhere Territory. There...Johnny would be in the back of an 'ol railroad car...strummin' a guitar and singing a song about travelling...and providing words of wisdom for the Journey we are all on.

Hope you enjoy my "Manly" Poetry Tribute to Johnny Cash, Travelling, Trains, Cowboys "Ridin' it to the End"...and this Great "Endless" Journey...We are all on...Enjoy the Ride!

Signed, Manly Poetry Man

The train leaves the station...and I move farther on... The train churns its steel wheels...and pushes me further...along.

As the train moves from the station...I see the track that lies ahead of me...

Turned Neither... to the Left or the Right...I will go "head-on"...Ridin' into destiny.

I came here to ride this thing...You can bet...I'll see it through...

Thousands of miles I've been before...Thousands more...have I yet to do.

And with the Spirit of an able man...I'll conquer that...which lies on ahead of me...

A Spirit of one who is free in the wind...A Spirit of one who'll be...all he wants to be.

"All Aboard for the Journey"...I hear called out by the conductor in a forward car...

I will ride this thing till the end of the line...Surely...I don't care just exactly how far.

I have saddled-up...and ridden many a hard, lonely trail...

I have crossed desert lands on foot...yet always did prevail.

I have climbed a mountainside...just 'cause it got in my way...

I have rode into many a town...just to save the day.

Who am I...you know me well...your Spirit has not lied...

I am the one who can always be found...out here in the countryside.

I travel out here always...finding that which lies ahead...I was born to ride...

My Spirit is along this track...going forward...my Spirit has never died !

Look...to the one thing in your life that says it is time for you to move on...

Grasp that which is fleeting...because...up ahead it might be gone.

You are a traveler...and you have joined me on this train...upon which I ride...

So...Sit back and enjoy the view with me...as I watch what lies ahead...all in stride.

And Know...that the minute one Journey ends...another one begins...which will always be...

This train that we are riding on....right here and now...goes on and on...right into eternity.

ralwus: Shoot dang...I forgot the broken heart, bottle binges, and buckle bunny pix! Actually...I believe Johnny Cash moved away from that "typical ol' country singer image"...somewhat...in his Golden Years! But then...no one knows what lies ahead on a journey...and it is usually always headed in the direction you want to go! So, far you ralwus...maybe a whole cabin car of buckle bunnies boards the train...which lies ahead in your journey...(HHHMMM...Maybe, they are looking for an artist to draw them...as well?) Whatever the case...enjoy your journey, my friend. Leave it to MPM to put a profound spin on your part of the journey...That's just the "Manly" Poetry Man way...! Ha! Always appreciate your comments, C...See ya' around in the comment sections! (And: So proud of that Marine...you have there in your family...give him the best from our family!)

Brenda: Thanks for your comment. Appreciate what you said about this poem. Good Fortune in all your writings! MPM

M101: Thank you Larry...It fits my profile? That's pretty cool...I must say. Maybe 'cause...there has been times in my life when I did feel like I had gotten on a train out in the middle of nowhere...that was going to the end of the line...But maybe...lots of folks can relate to that? I hope! You know I always appreciate your intuitive thinking on my work. I rather enjoy your commentary(s)....you help point out the "witty" side to everything...which makes for real good advertising for the "Manly" Poetry...and also makes this simple 'ol farmer dude sound a lil' bit smarter than he is in reality :) ! Much Success to you, my friend, always!

tantrum: You got it...I'll take those tickets for that Journey and ride...whether it be on horses or train or foot...or that one that is the biggest ride of our lifes...called, "LIFE". And, I'll take that Journey to the end of the line...and be glad to shake hands with ya' along the way, my friend! Oh yeah...it will be ONE Hell of a trip! Thanks for your comment...as always...!

You know what? All of Ya'll...are some really great HUBBERS!

Dear erin boote: Glad you liked this one. Just had to write this one...and do my my very best to make it like Johnny Cash would. He was an original...although just a man...same like any man...he was an exceptional and gifted artist. That is what inspired me to write this one. His style is so bold, roughly-calm, and you can almost hear the wind blowing behind him in many of his songs that are completely in touch with his surroundings. Thanks for this great comment...Humbly, MPM.

This was absolutely exceptional!!! Love the Johnny clips, the poem sounded like it almost could have been written by Johnny himself... I felt him all the way through it. You truly captured a spirit here, one that will be with us always. Thanks for a wonderful hub.

Thanks AE: This one was a blast to write...It felt so much like Johnny Cash himself was riding along in an old boxcar singing and playing the guitar...as I wrote this. I hoped and still hope...that's how everyone else feels when they read it. Thanks for your great comment...I know that love of ol' country songs...as well. I was raised on them, too.
