Here We Go Again

As I grow older I find myself getting more and more confused. No it is not the old age thing. I’m confused about what I should be doing with my writing. I set out to write articles but poetry comes out. Not the long poems I want to write but short vignettes. I guess I have a little to say about a lot. I have also ventured into flash fiction and children’s stories. I guess I just like to write.

I hope you enjoy all the little vignettes in this edition of Poems from the Jersey Shore. I am ways looking for ideas for poems. If you have any please put them in the comments section below. Until next time stay safe and live well.

Tack

I sat down

A tack stuck my butt

Just who thought

It’s funny

To sit a tack on my chair

Right there, on my chair

It didn’t hurt

Not one little bit

Not the point

You get it

Well anyway it wasn’t funny

Your practical joke

The O.G.

I’m the O.G.

The O.G that’s me

I revel in the title

I’m proud as can be

When people call out

Here comes an O.G.

What is an O.G

People ask me.

I say I’m an O.G

Can’t you see

Can’t you see

I’ve got wrinkles

On my forehead

I’ve got grey hair

Up on my roof

So can’t you see

I’m no longer a yourh

I’m the O.G.

The O.G that’s me

I revel in the title

I’m proud as can be

When people call out

Here comes an O.G.

For those of you

Who still don’t know

O.G. stands for Old Guy

Now I really must go

My nap times a wastin

And it’s starting to show

I’m the O.G.

The O.G that’s me

I revel in the title

I’m proud as can be

When people call out

Here comes an O.G.

Blue Ribbon

Blue ribbon

Hangs above my bed

A first place

Blue ribbon

Not for any sports I played

Not for winning

Any race

No the blue ribbon

Above my head

Over my bed

My teachers awarded me

Because I’m the best

Talker there is

There is none better

None faster

None who speaks

And spills words out just like me

Well none I know of

Phone

Telephone rings

Oh who could it be

A spam call

Can’t you stop

I’m really tired of them all

Please stop calling me

Ring, ring, ring

Another 10 calls

Car warranties

New siding

No I don’t need to reset

My Microsoft account

Telephone rings

Oh who could it be

A spam call

Can’t you stop

I’m really tired of them all

Please stop calling me

Thinking Chair

Have a chair

It’s my thinking chair

I sit there

I rock there

I do my best thinking there

In my thinking chair

I must say

It’s not a comfy chair

Cozy chair

Sitting chair

It’s a rather hard, hard chair

But when you sit there

You think and

Think a little more

So you don’t

Dwell on how

Harsh the thinking chair can feel

On your bottom parts

Have a chair

It’s my thinking chair

I sit there

I rock there

I do my best thinking there

In my thinking chair

Never

Never is

A strong word to use

Cause can you

truly say

You’ll never ever not do

Something the next day

Or the day

Which comes after that

Or a month

Or a year

Somewhere far, far down the road

So never

Say you will never

Do something

Instead say

Maybe I’ll never do that

Or maybe I will
