Welcome:
It is hard to believe this is the 22nd edition of Poems from the Jersey Shore. I’ve been writing poems and stories for a long time mostly to stay busy as I stay indoors but also to keep my mind fresh. It is challenging to take a prompt or a line or two and create a poem from them. I’m mostly drawn to creating inspirational poems but I also love to create other poems some of which are silly or even once in a while children’s poems.
I hope you enjoy this installment. I look forward to your feedback as well any prompts for future poems you may want me to write. Until next time stay healthy and stay safe.
Poetry Prompt #74
dream (dreaming, dreamer)
Dreams - A Song Lyrics
In your mind
Dreams
Hopes unseen
Might have beens
Real’s the dream
Trying to leave the real world behind
Trying to play out the images in your mind
All the visions you have for you life
None of which ever come to light
Dreams,
Hopes unseen
Might have beens
Real’s a dream
Dreams, dreams, playin in my head
Dreams, dreams, playin in my head
Dreams, dreams, playin in my head
Dreams,
Hopes unseen
Might have beens
Real’s a dream
Trying to leave the real world behind
Trying to play out the images in your mind
All the visions you have for you life
None of which ever come to light
Dreams,
Hopes unseen
Might have beens
Real’s a dream
Trying to leave the real world behind
Trying to play out the images in your mind
All the visions you have for you life
None of which ever come to light
Prompt: . Write a poem about life advice you’d give to your younger self.
Hey Younger Me
Hey younger me
You got me locked in chains.
They’re not the kind you can see no, no
Whoa, these chains got a hold on me
Chains I can‘t break away from, no man
Can’t run my life, cause I’m not free
Whoa, these chains you’ve created
Won‘t let go of me, I can’t be free
i wanna tell you younger me
Would I seek to change the course of a life
I’ve come to know as my own
or would I point out all the mistakes I’ve made.
No, I think you did fine, livin’ your life
But I’d also like say there are some things
You did along the way which are still
Chaining me, Chaining me
Whoa, these chains got a hold on me
Chains I can‘t break away from, no man
Can’t run my life, cause I’m not free
Whoa, these chains you’ve created
Won‘t let go of me, I can’t be free
Hey younger me
Please believe me when I tell you
At times our life was sweet
And I’ll treasure some moments along the way
But I can’t break of the chains you‘ve created
Whoa, these chains got a hold on me
Chains I can‘t break away from, no man
Can’t run my life, cause I’m not free
Whoa, these chains you’ve created
Won‘t let go of me, I can’t be free
Prompt: Wrote a poem about something colorful.
Color My World
Color my, color my
Color my dreams
Color my, color my
Color my dreams
Separate me from what
This world seems
And color my dreams
Well, this world i live
It is not my own
It’s a dream i’m havin’
On my way home
Much, much more
Than can meet the eye
If i blink twice
It will pass me by
So i gaze upon the colors
That have all faded to grey
Ever searching my dreams
For that brighter day
Color my, color my
Color my dreams
Color my, color my
Color my dreams
Separate me from what
This world seems
And color my dreams
Well someday my dream
Will be over
And i will open my eyes
To gaze upon a brand new world
With crystal blue skys
There will br no more
Dreams of balck and white
No more colors faded to gray
All the colors will be
So bright
As if they were painted
That way
Prompt: A poem about the nighttime.
Moonlit Nights
I love to walk
around on
moonlit nights
The world around me
is such
a beautiful sight
The world is bathed
in a moonlit glow
As if covered in
a new fallen snow
I especially like
To walk on a dark lane
Look up at the
ethereal plane
See the scattered stars
cast out like dust
Stare at the moon with
It’s earthly thrust
Yes, I like the nighttime
where the sky is clear
And the soft music
of silence
Is all your hear
An old poem of mine reborn.
State of Confusion
Where I am
Out there
Where
Here
Nowhere
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion
Get up my days
In a constant haze
Running here
Running there
Why
It's become the style
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion
The world moves
At such a pace
It's a constant rat race
I'm in a state of confusion
I'm in a state of confusion
Where I am
Out there
Where
Here
Nowhere
We've got to learn
To slow down
Sit back
Take a break
Have a cup of tea
Don't you see
I'm in a state of confusion
Prompt: Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
Gotta Roll
Gotta roll with what you got
There’s only so much you can do
With the life, the life you’re now livin
Gotta go with whatever comes
Whatever the lot you are givin
Gotta roll, gotta roll
With the changes, changes
Don’t let it all get to you,
Put your life in the hands of God
He’ll know just what to do
He’s the one who created it all
He’s the one set the heart in motion
He’s the one who seeks our love
He’s the one we owe our devotion
Gotta roll with what you got
There’s only so much you can do
With the life, life you’re now livin
Gotta go with whatever comes
Whatever the lot you are givin
