Summer Poem - We're gonna party all through night

Mohan is a family physician, film and TV aficionado, a keen bibliophile and an eclectic scribbler.

Summer Fun

It's been a while since I partied all though night and its about time that I did. Party needs an anthem. A song that inspires us to shake away the cobwebs, strip down to the essentials, light a fire and dance along the beach with a cold one in the hand.

When I wrote this I was high on listening to some drinking songs. There's nothing like writing my own tune, something that we could all sing out loud into the night and well into the early hours.

So come join me to celebrate summer and all that it brings...

We're gonna party all through night..

We're Gonna Party All Through Night!

The bottle is chilled and my guitar is tuned

Been at work all day and felt marooned

In a sea of suits, who’ve lost the meaning of fun

Come join me on the beach, by the setting sun

We’re gonna party all through night

We’re gonna set the dark sky alight

We’re gonna sing and dance

Jump up and prance

We’re gonna laugh and love

Seek the heavens above

We’re gonna party all through night…

Clothes are few, the wood fire is warm

Kiss me quick as I can see no harm

My heart beats up, my barriers down

Laughter erupts and our worries drown

We’re gonna party all through night

We’re gonna set the dark sky alight

We’re gonna sing and dance

Jump up and prance

We’re gonna laugh and love

Seek the heavens above

We’re gonna party all through night…

My glass is so dry, pour me one more

No need to push, it’s an open door

Night is still young, my song ain’t done

If you see double, two can become one

We’re gonna party all through night

We’re gonna set the dark sky alight

We’re gonna sing and dance

Jump up and prance

We’re gonna laugh and love

Seek the heavens above

We’re gonna party all through night…

Come closer, there’s far too much air

Between us, girl, that’s not fair

Grab me tight, and let's take flight

Out of mind and out of sight

We’re gonna party all through night

We’re gonna set the dark sky alight

We’re gonna sing and dance

Jump up and prance

We’re gonna laugh and love

Seek the heavens above

We’re gonna party all through night…

We’re gonna party all through night…

We’re gonna party all through night…

Whenever you want to take a break from 'doctor-ing,' Docmo, just begin a new career as a songwriter. You have the talent, my friend. I would have joined the party sooner but I was still celebrating the 4th.

Sista, puleeze... I am tryin' to enjoy a prune danish with one of my homeys (no I will certainly not fooking tell you who...hee- hee is...). I almost choked from giggling at your remark, behind my napkin, of course!

"you better lubricate your joints..." Nope, I'm not gonna go there.

Vincent, please see that my Sista gets back home safely... I don't think she can 'hold her stick'.

Terrye Toombs from Somewhere between Heaven and Hell without a road map. on July 04, 2012:

Hahahaha! Docmo you're too clever for your shirt... Baby chocolates..... Lol!

Yummy!

Let me go share a joint with my stepbrother, Vincent, and of course, dearest Docmo, you and my prizzy sis Mar will not even guess what I'm doing where only my dearest brother Vincent can see me... Oohoo, I am wicket, oh so wicket!.... And then I'll be back, Docmo, with a song to dance for the two of us. In the meantime, just enjoy yourself. Go crazy.... Cuz tomorrow is another day..

But let me warn you and don't tell - that sista of mine, mar, is such a Queen Victoria.... Her mouth is big, but she is a prune ala carté..... Don't FALL for her charm....

Mind you, me too, is kind of Victorian.... But I do have a secret button....

Tralalalala...

For you to find.....

BRB with a song. Docmo, you better lubricate your joints! Because the song I'm bringing will be one of those tralalalala's

Mmmmm, and I wonder, will you be able to keep your pose...

I mean, this is but only a party.....

Papa uhmama.... Papa uhmama....

epigramman on July 04, 2012:

...once they let me out of my cage at the zoo I have learned from you Mister D, the most romantic man in the entire free world, on how to properly convey the inner beast in me , that yes, I can be beautiful too, and party all through the night with these magical words because they come from someone as special and gifted as you. lake erie time 10:30am

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Vincent- what a perfect idea! although I am not sure if the world needs to 'hear' my singing voice!! Thanks for the suggestion. AYOBA, Mar.

Maria Jordan from Jeffersonville PA on July 04, 2012:

Now you're talkin'... Cowboy! What a perfect idea, Dr Moore!

I was only joshin', Doc... all is AYOBA!

Vincent Moore on July 04, 2012:

Oh I remember those beach party days. We use to drive a half ton truck full of beer, I'd be on my Harley with my gf on the back in her bikini and heading for the beach. We would party all weekend, oh those were the days indeed. Hey Doc, why don't you go to "Soundcloud" or "Audacity" and sing the words to your song, once your done. Capture the link and place it back here so we can all hear your singing voice. It would be a blast. Give it a try. I've talked some of my poetry in at Soundcloud and it works very well, there are many artists featured with their music, you can be one of them.

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

All I did was Google the lyrics, Mar. I've already learnt a few words of Sista's language. Please don't Bliksem me! (yet) I want a tutorial too. pretty pleeeese.

Maria Jordan from Jeffersonville PA on July 04, 2012:

Bliksem (Thanks, Sista... this one comes in FOOKING handy!), Doc...

Doesn't seem fair that you and Sista have a flow for the 'diaonia' of this ditty, while I can do is enjoy the 'melos and opsis' greatly...

After my eyes clear up, Sista is setting up a tutorial with me... I am looking forward to hearing more about these nicknames...

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Well, Mar- I love it when you talk dirrrty.

Your Sista's now Baby Tjoklits ( or maybe its me - after all I am chocolate brown!!) we need to find you a nick name.

Oh my! I am seeing treble.

I know exactly what Gerhard is singing!

Thats why I'm trebly excited.

Maria Jordan from Jeffersonville PA on July 04, 2012:

OK, I'll have to go epi on you, Sista... "I don't know what the FOOK Gerhard is singing but ai yi yi... I'm gettin in that car STAT!"

Doc, are we now thinking at the same time...oh my?!

Wow, this is one party that never quits... now I'm seeing double or maybe even triple...

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Fun, friends, beach, sands, a little sprinkling of romance by the fire. What more do we want? thank you Dotti for reading this back to back with the other poem. Have I set the 'mood' for the day? lol.

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Hey Martie, ( or should I call you Baby Tjoklits? that's your new nickname) thanks for coming to the party. I know you'll bring a song and I like what I'm hearing:

You'll like what I'm singing:

"Ek wonder wil jy hier by my wees?

Ek wonder of jy nog my sms’e lees

Want ek dink aan jou, jy weet ek doen, jy weet ek doen.

Ek dink aan jou!

Baby ek like jou soos jy is.

My hart klop tjoklits as jy naby is.

Baby, baby tjoklits."

Thank you - you've livened up my day with this song.

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Healthyfamily and MKpaul- seems like this brought you both fond memories of friends and parties. I'm pleased. Thank you for your visit and comments.

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:

Mohan Kumar (author) from UK on July 04, 2012:
