The Palace I Built

The palace I built is now complete

Taken me years it’s no mean feat

Built it through rain and the searing heat

A place for a heart and soul to meet

The palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

Bricks and sticks of love and hope

Proud and grand on the mountain slope

Flags fly high from its marble tope

Held aloft by dream’s golden rope

In the palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

You lay siege of my aching heart

Let all doubt please now depart

Want you to come and be a part

Make love’s glorious fanfare start

In the palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

The palace I built is now complete

Taken me years it’s no mean feat

Built it through rain and the searing heat

A place for a heart and soul to meet

Is the palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

Patiently I have waited long

Building my life through right and wrong

No despair, I have kept faith strong

The chambers echo of this song

In the palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

No bridge no moat just an open gate

Rose petals on steps, safe rooms await

Their welcome air is all innate

Queen of my dreams, please don’t be late

To the palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

The palace I built is now complete

Taken me years it’s no mean feat

Built it through rain and the searing heat

A place for a heart and soul to meet

The palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

The palace I built

It’s the palace I built…

Beautiful poem, Docmo. I love this verse:

'No bridge no moat just an open gate

Rose petals on steps, safe rooms await

Their welcome air is all innate

Queen of my dreams, please don't be late.'

: ) .... so romantic!

Daisy Mariposa from Orange County (Southern California) on February 25, 2013:

Awesome in every way. I don't usually use that word although I press the Awesome button sometimes. But this is truly awe-inspiring. Voting up and sharing and beautiful.

Denise Handlon from North Carolina on January 13, 2013:

Hi Docmo-Just saw this on the feed-great hub: romantic, beautiful, and lovely poem. In fact, it appears that poem could easily be set to music, have you considered that?

Awesome palace photos and I was not familiar with the Cupid song, but enjoyed that as well. UP/Awesome. Hope you have a wonderful 2013

Daisy Mariposa from Orange County (Southern California) on January 13, 2013:

CrisSp from Sky Is The Limit Adventure on September 17, 2012:

Thanks to mary615 for sharing this or I wouldn't know how talented Docmo is.

Beautiful poem accompanied with a perfect video. I'm fortunate that I've actually been in few of the palaces in the video, like the Versailles in France, The Buckingham Palace in London and the Grand Palace in Thailand. They are magnificent, very fascinating. Boy, my feet love to travel!

On my bucket list though is The Hunyad Castle in Romania, where Dracula was held prisoner. And, the Löwenburg Castle, which is the Disneyland of the 18th century. I think it will be splendid to see that.

Up and beautiful Docmo! Thanks.

Mary Hyatt from Florida on September 17, 2012:

Beautiful Hub, beautiful music to enjoy reading it by.

You are truly gifted, Doc.

I voted this UP, and will share.

I simply had to stop by for a second visit. You've said on your Facebook page that you're an aspiring polymath...not *aspiring*, Mohan...

You are a polymath. You have already achieved that status.

Linda Bilyeu from Orlando, FL on August 08, 2012:

The palaces in India and Tibet are amazing, but I'd prefer to take up residence in Buckingham Palace. Do you have any contacts?

I love the video with the music and photos. Your poem was the icing on the cake!

Martie Coetser from South Africa on August 08, 2012:

This is a lovely poem, Docmo! Since I have a developed set of brains my idea of the ideal man (for me) is comparable with a palace. "Be my palace where I can be myself and do what I like to do every day when I return from yet another battle in the jungle called Life."

Voted up and awesome!

Magnificent video!

raciniwa from Talisay City, Cebu on August 07, 2012:
