Art and Poetry: Falling For You

Mohan is a family physician, film and TV aficionado, a keen bibliophile and an eclectic scribbler.

Seasons of Love

The change of seasons is an everlasting fascination to us Earthbound mortals. Through the ages, mankind has watched, endured, enjoyed every passing season. The promise of spring, the warmth of summer, the colours of autumn and the bleak winters all have their own beauty.

Creative souls have captured the passing seasons in their own way. While each season conjures up its own mood, it is not a fixed concept. While watching the colours of Autumn unfold outside my study window, falling for the fantastic colours of fall was an easy allure.

I wanted to capture the colours of fall in a poem of love, aptly titled falling for you.

Hope it conveys all that is glorious about autumn, about the love of our lives.

“Give me a land of boughs in leaf

A land of trees that stand;

Where trees are fallen there is grief;

I love no leafless land.”

— A.E.Houseman

con tanto dinero amarillo?

What does autumn go on paying for

with so much yellow money?”

Falling For You

Leaves that slowly sail on by

As tree branches wave on high

Always whisper me your name

In this russet and gold autumnal game

West wind weaves and whistles past

Scroll to Continue

What wizardry does it cast

As thoughts of you my mind invade

In my autumn woodland serenade

And I’m falling for you

Oh if only you knew

How much my heart aches

And all what it takes

To stop me wilting

My world from tilting

Only you can bring me

The promise of spring

Twigs and branches float past

Not caring about journey’s last

Do they dream of distant oceans

Like my journeying emotions

Seasons always come and go

Yet my time never tends to flow

Darling without you by me

Why oh why can’t you see

And I’m falling for you

Oh if only you knew

How much my heart aches

And all what it takes

The Bleak mid winter

It will break and enter

The warmth of my song

If I’m waiting for long

Swirling leaves do cast your face

As cirrus clouds made up of lace

Travel across golden skies

Teasing memory of you in my eyes

Fire from orange evening shine

Brown and black the shadows line

Bright red berries peeking through

Promising me a taste of you

And I’m falling for you

Oh if only you knew

How much my heart aches

And all what it takes

Birds flee far west

To seek what is best

As for my nest

You know the rest

Fall has come to let me know

To shed those dried up tales of woe

Prepare me for the winter’s wrath

Till spring arrives down my path

Giving me the promise of you

Fresh amongst the blossoms new

Until then I have winter and fall

The melancholy beauty in all

And I’m falling for you

Oh if only you knew

How much my heart aches

And all what it takes

Missing you though

And you should know

You’re my season

And all my reason.....

And I’m falling for you

Oh if only you knew....

Doc, you have such a romantic, passionate heart. American men don't grasp that; they consider themselves too tough for heartfelt love. Your woman is a lucky one indeed. She has something I never will.

Your autumnal poetry, Docmo, is exquisite and the montage of fall photos you have created is brilliant. I enjoyed viewing them all but especially the one with the thick carpet of orange and other vivid colored leaves. Made me want to put on my old shoes and scuff back and forth through them like a kid. Thanks for this outstanding treat. Voted up, indubitably.

Though my words are just a few in a long line of admirers, Docmo, your words are heartstopping enough, accompanied by one of my fav songs "Yellow", to turn my heart around to believe in and hope for this kind of love. It's beautiful, Mohan...It's a rare phrase for me, but "you've made me a believer." If I was inclined to follow a leader, it would be you and the Religion of Mohan!

What a lovely tribute to autumn, through poetry, song, and painting; the perfect trilogy of art. The paintings are amazing… with different and fascinating styles and perceptions; I especially liked the Brumm; Kinkade; Raffaello, and Adams. Although the styles and interpretations are different, the love, magnificent colors, and sensations are all there…just like the poetry. Up and more, Doc. :-)
