Our Scars, Only Clouds, Before the Light of the Unspoken. Monday's Inspiration 84, to William Dale and Beverley Holland

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

On William Dale Holland, a. k. a., Billybuc

I wanted to devote this poem to Bill and Beverley Holland, not because they are having any problems –in fact far from it! But because Bill is an awesome inspirator and motivator in the Hubpages community.

He’s also been through a lot in life, and I rather suspect Beverley has too. Indeed, who hasn’t? Some more than others, of course! Life gives us only what we need and the capacity to handle them. Bill most certainly had the capacity, as he quit all his numerous jobs, including teaching, to branch out, penniless, into writing, at the 'young-old' age of 62. No joke!

I have written so much about Bill! He’s the first and perhaps Dora Isaac Weithers, second. Two sterling souls of contrasting qualities. One who says he’s a shy, yet very adventurous and open-minded soul with a zeal for love and living. The other is a devout family mother, with an unyielding admiration for ethics and dignity and a deep gratitude for life and Jesus, the Christ.

But we are here for Bill, a man who came out of the shadows of the valley of death: blind, penniless and homeless; fortunate enough to run into a loving family who took him in without asking any questions and gave him a decent upbringing, which helped shape his journey.

Yet Bill faced many demons and sank deeply, into the abysmal abyss. (Perhaps that’s why we love him so much, as he is more than one of us) He has been burned in the cauldron of the Alchemist and came out unscathed on the other side of the mountain. No easy feat!

Enter Beverley – at a God-ordained moment, perhaps – and Bill went full circle to a life of beauty, generosity, selflessness and Love. I’m extremely happy to see that this life of creative writing at its most brilliant, family loyalty and a keen mind of business acumen … of character, generosity and decorum, has and is still continuing, even as I write.

My deepest admiration and Love to William Dale Holland, his wife Beverley and all his family, dogs and other loved members of the Hubpages community. Glory be!

Our Scars Are Like Passing Clouds, Before the Light of The Unspoken

“The wound is the place where the Light enters You.”

Says Rumi, and the toil with today’s dark ghouls and shadows,

Is most certainly a precursor, for tomorrow’s illustrious dawn.

Do not grieve, my fallen angels, neither should you

Be afraid. Joseph was thrown into a well of suffering,

But rose again to glory in his Fathers Kingdom.

It is the nature of life to give us challenges, yet it’s

Scroll to Continue

In falling that we rise to a greater victory. Night is

Not truly black, but only a dim-lit lantern, just as the abyss

Is but a candle, for the effulgence of the moon to come.

The next time you sink in a valley of tears; the next

Time your eyes are covered with mists; see only the

Agony of despair, do not give up! Instead, reach out to the

Healing rays of the inner invisible, in whose compassionate Heart,

Lies a merciful handkerchief, longing to dry each sacred drop.

Many fears are born out of loneliness and insecurity. A desire

To love and be loved ... to have; to take control. Yet we are

Free, and adversity is only a veil, for the effulgent Light to come.

Have you ever seen the Weaver’s unfinished work of clay?

Lost in the laws of struggle, it looks like messy chocolates. Yet

When it is complete, it’s transformed into a most beautiful vase.

Rain saturates the earth which becomes mud, yet this same

Soil is nurtured by the sanctity of sunlight, producing food…

Sunflowers, orchids and other flowers, of the most radiant beauty!

The pain of the hammer and anvil, Is only a necessary flame,

To burn our impediments, into an ascending Love. The woodman’s

Axe appears merciless, when the oak is severed from its roots, yet

It is only for a season, until new roots spring up with summer.

The challenge of the cross, appears as a benchmark for modern

Living. We rise and fall and rise and fall, as Mother Gaia envelops us

With challenges. Yet like any excellent play in life, doesn’t the actor throw

Off the worn-out robes, adorning himself in new raiment’s, as the tale unfolds?

Do not grieve, my sweet, sweet angels, for your wounds are

Only the place where the Light enters you. Your scars are like passing

Clouds, before the unfolding rays, of the Light … of the Unspoken.

Wisdom from the Master

"In prosperity our inner strength remains static. In adversity our inner strength becomes dynamic. None can deny the fact that every step of progress which the world has made has come from both the smiles of prosperity and the tears of adversity. Adversity, like poverty, is no sin. One merit of adversity none can deny: it helps us to be stronger within." - Sri Chinmoy

"Mine is the wisdom-light

That tells me to ask,

Not for a lighter burden

But for a stronger Heart." - Sri Chinmoy

I told Rosina I was praying for her, but yes, it makes sense to mention the community.

I thought that you had already read this piece. It is a people's favourite and I did it on some international platforms. I will probably do it tomorrow in Spoken Word online, Paris, God's willing. It is a very beautiful group with lots of Americans, so if you download Zoom, you can see it in the comfort of your own home. Let me know.

This is a great one for both Bev and Bill, two truly devoted and awesome souls with tremendous affinity to each other ... to life. Your kind words are truly appreciated and admired. 'Nuff respect!

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 19, 2021:

This is such a lovely and inspirational piece of writing.

I'm certain Bill & Beverly appreciate your evrry word.

Bill has definitely been an inspiration to me. He faces adversity & keeps smiling, keeps living & moving forward to his goals.

Your words in this poem describe so much beauty and raw truth.

I love how you use the Weaver's clay to make this point.

That it looks like nothing but a chocolatey mess before it turns into a treasure of beauty.

And how the darkness is not truly dark, but a dim lit candle.

It is often hard to find one's way in the face of struggles and despair, but your words in this poem give us hope to keep not give see this glimmer of light.

We can make it and the reward of our transformation will be a vision of radiance. There is so much more awaiting us, more than we have ever dreamed.

Thanks for this heart touching poetry.

You've said it all!! I'm jealous now. Chuckle. Pity Bill has some 3,000 friends to respond too. If he returns, he'll see your beautiful contribution. Thank you so much!!

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on April 14, 2021:

Wow, I'm completely blown away by the beauty and wisdom of this dedication to Bill and Bev, Manatita!

Bill is one of the first friends I made on this platform eleven years ago. We've shared a lot and learned a lot. Bill has bared his soul, is transparent about his life, addictions, failures, and triumphs. He's a beacon of light and staunch supporter of his friends. He's selfless, caring, empathetic, sensitive, and strong. And yes, I firmly believe God brought Bill and Bev together to heal the wounds and mend them with enlightening love. I don't know any other couple more perfect for each other than Bill and Bev.

Awesome tribute to a most beautiful couple!

Ha-ha. Bill has about 8 or more dedications from me and Beverley is mentioned in most! I see them as inseparable! Actually, I was trying to put pictures also, but I couldn't figure it out this time.

Beverley also features heavily in the videos I do for Bill. Don't you read my Hubs Mrs L? (Chuckle).

My, The Woman on the Mountain and other poems and stories are either about Beverley or includes her. 'Nuff said.

Thanks a lot for your kind and thoughtful words. Please forgive my rantings! Much Love.

Beautiful words for a beautiful, selfless couple. At precisely the right moment, God allowed them to find each other, and what a blessing that is. You have written in the past of Bill; I'm glad you included Bev in your words today. She is a lovely, loving soul.

Be afraid. Joseph was thrown into a well of suffering,

You could not be honoring a more deserving member of our HubPages community than Bill. He is a shining light for anyone who has gone through adversity and comes out on the other side with love and generosity in his heart. You are another bright light! Reading this makes me smile. Thank you!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on April 12, 2021:

Your tribute brought tears to my eyes, my friend. How very kind of you. Scars indeed, and each one carries a story, and each story is a building block, construction continues, and Bev is the cement which holds it all together, and I love that you gave her a moment in the HP sun, for she deserves it.

You, my friend, and too kind. I cherish our friendship.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 12, 2021:

A wonderful tribute to Bill and Bev! They deserve every word and you have put it all so eloquently. Your poetry is beautiful, capturing, I believe, the essence of Bill's journey and character. I particularly like the 'messy chocolates' analogy!

This left me feeling uplifted, hopeful, content, in total agreement and clapping silently for Bill and for you.

Thank you.
