Night Swim

"Night Swim" the feeling of swimming in the ocean in on a warm summer night is my absolute favorite. this poem is an memory of those nights, alone with the moon and the waves.

"Night Swim"

-i wrote this poem in response to the prompt: "my soul in the moon." we are so deeply connected to the cycles of the moon, and I feel this most concretely when I swim in the ocean, especially at night. please enjoy this short ode to the moon and tides.

night swim

Tides push, pull

and pull again.

Emotions swelling,

crashing: an explosion

of salty foam

rains over the sand

where I stand,

eyes closed, head thrown back.

Moonlight seeps

into the darkness,

pierces deep,

cracking open my chest—

exposed,

yearning——

Push, pull

the moon and tide

summon me.

Eyes open, shoes slipped off

I let the darkness consume me.
