Sunday Morning Coffee
Sunday morning coffee with you
A day of rest with nothing to do
I pour your coffee, making it sweet
Then pour mine with something to eat
We settle in the living room
Waiting for our program soon
Just to relax and take our time
Smell the coffee, so sublime
You reach for your coffee in its usual place
After the first gulp, a smile on your face
Sunday morning coffee with you
There is nothing else I would rather do

Your blue eyes caught my attention
Among other things
I shall not mention
Not only for their brilliant color
But for what shines through
You're like no other
Your blue eyes are trusting and
You always believe that life is
Always willing to lend a hand,
Giving the benefit of the doubt to even the lowest of man
Your blue eyes exude kindness and caring especially with loved ones
You are so endearing
Always so open with people you meet
A friendly hello to folks on the street
Your blue eyes express smiles and laughter
Hoping they stay that way for ever after
Your blue eyes have my undivided attention
For now and always..and oh!shall I mention?

Where are you Mom, where did you go
You have gone to a place I do not know
Your new world does not include me
It's rather cloudy, from what I see
You sit there in your chair
With such a vacant empty stare
I wish I could bring back the better times
When you were younger and in your prime
I have those memories good and strong
But the future can't tell me for how long

Another set of lovely poems. There's so much angst in modern poetry; it's nice to read stuff that flows with such delicacy. Keep it up.

I agree with Nell about your mom poem. I remember a day when she was a beauty and untouched by the misery that came onto her path. Why people are put here to suffer as she did, I have now answer. Thank you for these lovely poems, they brighten up the day, even the sad one as life lessons of pain and hurt. Peace
