Enduring Love

Estuaries are necessary, for a larger pond;

Rivers are harbingers, of the mighty Ocean.

Life-coaches are necessary, for health and wealth,

Motivators inspire vibrancy; cause shadows to melt.

Messiah’s are crucial, to take us Above,

Mothers reminds us, of enduring Love.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 7th March, 2020

Mother's

They toil and suffer, our lives to make better,

Like the sun and the moon, they always worship.

Pay homage to filth, or joys and endeavour,

When our lives are improper, their love runs deep.

Their sweet sacrifice offers, its fragrance-rose,

The wafts of their selflessness, comes from God's Light.

A heart filled with beauty, its service exposed,

The joy of their dear ones, their only delight.

Hear you, O my children, when mothers express,

Their heart's soulful tears--your many afflictions.

Their sorrowful soul, struggles hard to redress,

The toil that you bear; your many distractions.

Their devotion's will; rainbow-heart-tears-concern,

They offer their children, what's second to none.

Manatita, The Lantern Carrier. 12th May 2018.

Mother's Love

When I say: “I Love you!”, I wish to hear the

Echoing of these three tiny words, on perennial galaxies,

Extolling your sacrifice with copious tears.

I know that your agony of Spirit; Your sleepless concern,

Has travelled a million journeys; burnt in the travails of sorrow,

To teach me beauty and character, out of your purest Love.

We two, are like a leaf and its shadow.

You, the leaf, resilient, spilling its dreams on the mirror of life;

Me, your shadow, that inseparable seed from thy embryo.

Our tides rise and fall; rise and fall, as if into

A winter’s abyss, yet soars again, when yon daffodils and

Hyacinths, proclaim the new grandeur and redolence of spring.

Mother, I saw thy endless patience - a badge of courage -

Offering up your soul for my redemption, heart spilling

The glory of snow-white tears in your struggle, until dawn

Came as a solace to your nakedness; a balm to thy afflictions.

I have seen your river of tears -- an invisible spark burning –

Yet unwavering and steadfast, even in the fiercest storms.

I see you, a dauntless Empress, bobbing and weaving,

Against a pendulum of currents, determined to push you

Backwards. But the full moon enters your core with its lustre,

Flooding thy being with its indigo rays. The heart radiates,

Pulling at the energy of the sun, giving you the light

To remain unconquerable, in the face of adversity.

Sri Sarada Devi. Wife and Consort of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, One of the most notable Seer/Rishi/God-man of all India

Ode to The Divine Mother

Maternal One, Thou art an ever new,

Eternal child of selfless suffering.

Thy body bears the cross of Earth --

A trillion years injustice to Thy womb.

Your bloodstained heart doth bleed with glee,

So happy with Thy sacrifice for me.

O Sustainer of infinite joy,

You uphold all the good a Mother can possess.

Thy overflowing fountain of sweet love,

Pours its bliss-laden nectar to the core,

Intoxicating me from pore to pore,

With thrills of peace sublime and deep.

Oh Mother! You bear Thy burden well!

Carrying this heavy weight of mine,

Thy shoulders red, but no deserved tear You ever shed.

Who can equal Your forgiveness?

Your sheltering arms, doth from the Father

Take away the whip, and,

Cradling Your world to sleep,

Bears silently the sorrows of ingratitude. - Manatita 23/02/04.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on March 12, 2020:

I am a little late to read this. As always, a wonderful tribute to Women, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

All the poems are heartfelt, and your mother looks so graceful. My regards to her.

An apt tribute to Devika, with special reference to her life and work.

Self respect, as well as love and respect from the fellow human beings, is important for a woman.

Thanks for sharing this excellent hub.

manatita44 (author) from london on March 10, 2020:

You are an awesome mom, so what can I say? God bless your beautiful Heart!

BBYCGN from Uninhabited Regions on March 10, 2020:

Manatita, I said “equality for all”, but the other answers are so important, too.

How gorgeous is a mother’s love, and you have done no less than to express this truth, magnificently, for its great worth!

❤️ xxxooo ❤️

manatita44 (author) from london on March 09, 2020:

Thanks Ivana,

Welcome here. Yes, we undervalue mothers and women in general. A shame. I try to bring your strengths to the fore: Resilience, patience, fortitude, endless concern; Love and sacrifice … thank you so much!

Manatita, you're poetry is excellent in every way. On the theme of mother, your tribute is like the most beautiful garden of flowers there is. So rich and so sweet! How kind to include Devika, also a beautiful soul!

manatita44 (author) from london on March 09, 2020:

Yes, I know. My sweet friend Nellieanna has been telling me for years as is Ioannis Arvanitis, my interviewer friend. I wish for When I am Gone Remember me to be sung at requiem mass.

One day I will just stop what I'm doing here and focus on my first book called Blossoms of The Heart - Heaven's Grace allowing - I have 800 poems or more.

It is a loving and all-seeing sentiment and coming from a kindred Spirit, I sure appreciate same. Gratitude.

Diane Denison from Cincinnati Ohio on March 09, 2020:

It is beautiful a hallmark card with your poetry needs to be made and put in flower deliveries across the world for Mothers Day.

manatita44 (author) from london on March 08, 2020:

Indeed. The Absolute is far superior, as the Love there is infinite and immortal. Mother's love can be flawed, but the Absolute has created her as such, to show us the Path to sacrifice, resilience and purest concern. Thank you so much! Have a blessed Sunday.

Donna Rayne from Sparks, NV on March 08, 2020:

A Mother's unconditional love prevails overall and is a small glimpse into what unconditional love God the Father has for all of us!

Precious blessings,

Donna Rayne

Devika,

Oh! Like Sean you are intuitive too? Thanks for a second visit. The work gets deeper when it's read again. I just read a piece I wrote for Chris (Cam), don't know how I did it. I felt teary-eyed to read it and said Wow! It is called The Night Sky.

Peggy,

As always, I thank you very much indeed! Much Love on this special Sunday.

Ruby,

We are a few of the giants here now. Nellieanna is missing, no word, but we are here. God bless your loving motherly Heart today. Peace!

Lorna,

You say such sweet things! My mom was a very self-giving woman. The church, the home and yard and the cemetery was full when she passed. Even the Prime Minister and wife came. Thank you so much!

Lorna Lamon on March 08, 2020:

How beautiful Manatita - all your poems touched my heart, however, 'Enduring Love' is the very essence of a mother. A lovely tribute to Devika on International Women's Day, which, as women we can all share. Your own mother looks very serene in this lovely photo Manatita.
